Book excerpt: “This has become my second favorite series right behind Harry Potter. I will continue to read this series again and again and be sad every time I get to the end. Worth every second!” – Nathan F. From USA Today Bestselling Author Aileen Erin comes the exciting finale in the Aunare Chronicles When Amihanna di Aetes first got to Sel’Ani, she never thought she’d have the full support of the Aunare, but she does. She never thought that she’d fall in love, get married, or become the High Queen, but she did. She never thought that she’d be planning something so stupid as her return to Earth, but that’s exactly what she’s doing. With the Alliance broken, SpaceTech has fully retreated to their home planet, but the chaos of war will descend again. Amihanna and Lorne know they don’t much time to plan their next move. Everything in their guts tells them to head straight to Earth but going into the heart of SpaceTech’s territory is stupid, reckless, and very likely deadly. Amihanna and Lorne have one chance to end this war quickly, protect the Aunare, free the Earther’s from SpaceTech’s rule, and save Declan, Ahiga, and the missing ABQ Crew members. Trying to do it all feels impossible, but Amihanna has never been one to back down from a challenge, especially when defeating SpaceTech was never just her mission. It’s her destiny. hr Binge the complete Aunare Chronicles series now! Book 1: Off Planet Book 2: Off Balance Book 3: In Command Book 4: On Mission Book 5: On Destiny hr “The action was non-stop and the author crafted an extremely satisfying ending.” – Sheila Kay, Author “The Aunare Chronicles has been a thrilling sci-fi adventure from start to finish with enough romance to swoon and action to delight. On Destiny is the stunning conclusion that far from disappoints, leaving the series in victory and the reader satisfied. A must-read for any and all fans of space, big tech overlords, alien kingdoms, and the ever-inspiring grit of humanity.” – Angela, Pooled Ink Reviews “I have read both the Alpha Girl and Aunare Chronicles series by Aileen Erin, and she is honestly one of the very few authors I can say I’ve reread her books more than once... If you’ve followed this series, you won’t be disappointed... Plenty of twist and turns along with the return of some characters from the first book in the series. [It’s] the epic battle that everything was leading up to.” – T. Rohring

Book Historical Dictionary of the Jacksonian Era and Manifest Destiny

Download or read book Historical Dictionary of the Jacksonian Era and Manifest Destiny written by Mark R. Cheathem and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2016-12-13 with total page 560 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Jacksonian period under review in this dictionary served as a transition period for the United States. The growing pains of the republic’s infancy, during which time Americans learned that their nation would survive transitions of political power, gave way to the uncertainty of adolescence. While the United States did not win its second war, the War of 1812, with its mother country, it reaffirmed its independence and experienced significant maturation in many areas following the conflict’s end in 1815. As the second generation of leaders took charge in the 1820s, the United States experienced the challenges of adulthood. The height of those adult years, from 1829 to 1849, is the focus of the Historical Dictionary of the Jacksonian Era and Manifest Destiny. This second edition of Historical Dictionary of the Jacksonian Era and Manifest Destiny contains a chronology, an introduction, appendixes, and an extensive bibliography. The dictionary section has over 200 cross-referenced entries on important personalities, politics, economy, foreign relations, religion, and culture. This book is an excellent access point for students, researchers, and anyone wanting to know more about this era in American history.

Book The A to Z of the Jacksonian Era and Manifest Destiny

Download or read book The A to Z of the Jacksonian Era and Manifest Destiny written by Terry Corps and published by Scarecrow Press. This book was released on 2009-07-27 with total page 468 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The brief period from 1829 to 1849 was one of the most important in American history. During just two decades, the American government was strengthened, the political system consolidated, and the economy diversified. All the while literature and the arts, the press and philanthropy, urbanization, and religious revivalism sparked other changes. The belief in Manifest Destiny simultaneously caused expansion across the continent and the wretched treatment of the Native Americans, while arguments over slavery slowly tore a rift in the country as sectional divisions grew and a national crisis became almost inevitable. The A to Z of the Jacksonian Era and Manifest Destiny takes a close look at these sensitive years. Through a chronology that traces events year-by-year and sometimes even month-by-month actions are clearly delineated. The introduction summarizes the major trends of the epoch and the four administrations therein. The details are then supplied in several hundred cross-referenced dictionary entries, and the bibliography concludes this essential tool for anyone interested in history.

Book excerpt: Sometimes my life doesn’t feel real to me. It’s so different—infinitely better—than anything I had on Earth. I’m not running or hiding or afraid anymore. I’m not dealing with the trauma of my past. I’m not alone because I have Lorne. Every time I look into his eyes, everything else fades away—the war, the fight ahead, the fact that we have so much work to do if we want to win. I see him and I forget that SpaceTech is moving against us, but it’s not just me I’m trying to save anymore. It’s the Aunare. And yet, the Aunare High Council isn’t listening to a word I say. I’m the only one who seems to understand the danger that we’re up against, and that if we don’t start acting soon, it’ll be too late. I want to dissolve the High Council, but I’m not sure I should. I don’t even know if I can. But I know that SpaceTech is closing in. Their war ships are stationed at the edges of our colonies’ territory, and I can feel the fight growing closer every minute of every day. The time for us to act is coming, and I’m not sure how much more politicking I can do. That’s not who I am. It’s not who I’m meant to be. I can only be a fighter. A warrior. A queen. If no one else will fight with me, then I will do what I need to take down SpaceTech. Because I’m Amihanna di Aetes, the future High Queen of the Aunare, and I won’t quit. Not ever. hr From Aileen Erin, the USA Today Bestselling Author of the Alpha Girl series, comes an epic adventure in space: The Aunare Chronicles! Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "...an important text for practitioners...this text is a valuable tool that develops self-inquiry skills." Journal of Advanced Nursing Reflection is widely recognised as an invaluable tool in health care, providing fresh insights which enable practitioners to develop their own practice and improve the quality of their care. Guided Reflection: A Narrative Approach to Advancing Professional Practice introduces the practitioner to the concept of guided reflection, in which the practitioner is assisted by a mentor (or 'guide') in a process of self-enquiry, development, and learning through reflection in order to effectively realise one’s vision of practice and self as a lived reality. Guided reflection is grounded in individual practice, and can provide deeply meaningful insights into self-development and professional care. The process results in a reflexive narrative, which highlights key issues for enhancing healthcare practice and professional care. Reflection: A Narrative Approach to Advancing Professional Practice uses a collection of such narratives from everyday clinical practice to demonstrate the theory and practicalities of guided reflection and narrative construction. In this second edition, Chris Johns has explored many of the existing narratives in more depth. Many new contributions have been added including several more innovative reflections, such as performance and art. These narratives portray the values inherent in caring, highlight key issues in clinical practice, reveal the factors that constrain the quest to realise practice, and examine the ways practitioners work towards overcoming these constraints.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Alexander Herzen—philosopher, novelist, essayist, political agitator, and one of the leading Russian intellectuals of the nineteenth century—was as famous in his day as Tolstoy and Dostoevsky. While he is remembered for his masterpiece My Past and Thoughts and as the father of Russian socialism, his contributions to the history of ideas defy easy categorization because they are so numerous. Aileen Kelly presents the first fully rounded study of the farsighted genius whom Isaiah Berlin called “the forerunner of much twentieth-century thought.” In an era dominated by ideologies of human progress, Herzen resisted them because they conflicted with his sense of reality, a sense honed by his unusually comprehensive understanding of history, philosophy, and the natural sciences. Following his unconventional decision to study science at university, he came to recognize the implications of early evolutionary theory, not just for the natural world but for human history. In this respect, he was a Darwinian even before Darwin. Socialism for Russia, as Herzen conceived it, was not an ideology—least of all Marxian “scientific socialism”—but a concrete means of grappling with unique historical circumstances, a way for Russians to combine the best of Western achievements with the possibilities of their own cultural milieu in order to move forward. In the same year that Marx declared communism to be the “solution to the riddle of history,” Herzen denied that any such solution could exist. History, like nature, was contingent—an improvisation both constrained and encouraged by chance.
