[Author] A platform was then developed to inform respective mandates, share experiences and identify areas for collaboration with these matters as a basis for generating recommendations for further development of aquatic organism health and biosecurity systems. [Author] This led to the Fish-Vet Dialogue: Exploring Collaboration on Managing Health of Aquatic Organisms, an event organized by FAO and the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH), with the support of the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD) and the Norwegian Veterinary Institute (NVI). [Author] Key aspects from the survey and the Fish-Vet Dialogue included: enhancing collaboration by engaging stakeholders and establishing public–private partnerships (PPPs); addressing the wider scope of collaboration, especially the One Health Initiative; scientific collaboration; and transparency in support of biosecurity and trade. [Author] Collaboration across government agencies is the minimum requirement, and policies or regulations are unlikely to succeed unless developed together with stakeholders, through PPPs. [Author] Trust and transparency are also required at all levels of management to support biosecurity and trade. In many countries, policy supports the reduction of antibiotic use and a growing focus in the veterinary practice is to move away from blanket dosage of antibiotics, for example for mastitis. Significant and speedy improvements can take place, but only with coordinated actions supported by the entire value chain. Reducing the use of antibiotics is of massive societal importance, but changing on farm or veterinary methods requires thought and a user-centred approach. The most glaring and addressable challenge is the absence of near real-time data and information. AHEAD 2017 explored how governments globally can benefit from increased digitisation in animal health. For effective monitoring, it is important to first understand the relevant tasks of each stakeholder in the food value chain. In these proceedings we openly discuss and define these tasks, identify existing challenges to completion of these tasks, and suggest the business opportunities overcoming these challenges can create. Through this publication, it is our intention to encourage open discussion, design and co-creation of an improved digital approach to animal health and drug usage in agriculture. The Workshop was sponsored by the OECD Co-operative Research Programme on Biological Resource Management for Sustainable Agricultural Systems, whose financial support made it possible for most of the invited speakers to participate in the Workshop. Un-prudent and poorly controlled use of anti-microbial in animal disease control in aquaculture can have significant contribution to AMR risk. Although the control over the use of antimicrobial in aquaculture through some regulatory frameworks has been strengthened over the past decade in the region, it is far from adequate and effective in many Asian countries. In order to support the members to effectively address AMR in aquaculture for public health and sustainability of the sector, FAO and Network of Aquaculture Centres in Asia-Pacific (NACA) jointly organized the regional consultation on AMR associated with aquaculture in Asia-Pacific on 4-6 September 2018. This publication documents the conduct of the regional consultation and its outputs, which identified major issues and gaps in tackling AMR issue in aquaculture and recommended desirable interventions and long-term strategy to effective mitigate AMR risk related to aquaculture in the region. The document also includes the seven country case studies on status of use of antimicrobial in aquaculture and the efforts to manage the risks of antimicrobial resistance, which were presented at the regional consultation.
