Book Common Sense for the Man Who Doesn T Have Any

Download or read book Common Sense for the Man Who Doesn T Have Any written by C. J. Davidson and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2015-11-09 with total page 61 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What is in this book is shared from a married mans perspective, but men and women from 18 to 80, single and separated alike can learn from it, if they want to. Growing up is a journey through all of the known and unknown obstacles of life, the ups and downs, the planned and unplanned, the hurtful and the humorous. All of these things together can make us what or who we are, but we can still be childish, stubborn, angry, vacillating, discouraged, and thoughtless even when we think we are being thoughtful, which ends up being thoughtless, because we thought wrongly. Or, along the way we can see the need for change so that, by the grace of God, we can be better and really grow up and find that balance in our lives that makes us strong, wise, compassionate, and useful to our families, friends, communities and the world. Come along with the writer and take a look at some of his crazy past and present and, maybe you too will see that you really need to get a handle on life, and grow up! (Hey! The author says he is still in need of a daily boost in the backside to stir some growth).

Book Sending Law to the Countryside

Download or read book Sending Law to the Countryside written by Suli Zhu and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-06-18 with total page 350 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Based on empirical investigation and an interdisciplinary approach, this book offers a crucial theoretical work on China’s basic-level judicial system and a masterpiece by Professor Suli Zhu, a prominent jurist on modern China. Its primary goal is to identify issues – ones that can only be effectively sensed and raised by China’s jurists because of their unique circumstances and cultural background – that are of practical significance in China’s basic-level judicial system, and of theoretical significance to juristic systems in general. Divided into four parts, the book begins with a discussion of the systematic and theoretical problems in China’s basic-level judicial system at the macro-, meso- and micro- scale. In the second part, it examines the technology and knowledge to be found in the basic-level judicial system, so as to make the traditionally “invisible” technology and knowledge of trial judges available for general theoretical analyses. The third part focuses on the judge and other legal personnel in the judicial system, while the last part discusses the value of legal sociology surveys as powerful resources. This book not only presents essential features of China’s judicial system by precisely describing key issues in its basic-level judicial system, but also offers well-founded content that accentuates the significance of social management innovation.

Book Baja California Adventures

    Book Details:
  • Author : Froylan Tiscareo
  • Publisher : Xlibris Corporation
  • Release : 2012-10
  • ISBN : 1479729957
  • Pages : 491 pages

Download or read book Baja California Adventures written by Froylan Tiscareo and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2012-10 with total page 491 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The stories featured in Baja California Adventures take place during a span of almost sixty years of travel in the rugged, parched yet hauntingly attractive peninsula. The author kept detailed notes on most of his trips, then fleshed out this skeleton in a narrative which places the reader in the role of participant in the adventure. Thus one feels the bite of the 4WD tires into the desert sand, newly hard-packed by the moisture of a quick-moving thunderstorm. The author describes the excitement of finding Indian petroglyphs, arrowheads or clay ollas in remote canyons. Because Mr. Tiscareño is also a pilot, many of the trips included here involve mention of the special immigration rules for private fly-in tourists. Finally, there are Baja Adventures in the pine-clad granite fortress that is the Sierra de San Pedro Mártir in the northern part of the peninsula. Here, the author joined other veteran Bajeños in "hoof-and-boot" or horse-assisted explorations. In short, this book should be inspiration to those readers who want to visit Baja California, particularly the less tourist-trod destinations. Arm-chair travelers will derive vicarious pleasure without the effort of going there themselves.

Book Off the Books

  • Author : J. Peder Zane
  • Publisher : Univ of South Carolina Press
  • Release : 2015-04-06
  • ISBN : 1611175097
  • Pages : 321 pages

Download or read book Off the Books written by J. Peder Zane and published by Univ of South Carolina Press. This book was released on 2015-04-06 with total page 321 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Head Off the Books in this collection of newspaper columns, where J. Peder Zane uses classic and contemporary literature to explore American culture and politics. The book review editor for the Raleigh, North Carolina News & Observer from 1996 to 2009, Zane demonstrates that good books are essential for understanding ourselves and the world around us. The one hundred and thirty columns gathered in Off the Books find that sweet spot where literature's eternal values meet the day's current events. Together they offer a literary overview of the ideas, issues, and events shaping our culture—from 9/11 and the struggle for gay rights to the decline of high culture and the rise of sensationalism and solipsism. As they plumb and draw from the work of leading writers—from William Faulkner, Knut Hamsun, and Eudora Welty to Don DeLillo, Lydia Millet, and Philip Roth—these columns make an argument not just about the pleasure of books, but about their very necessity in our lives and culture.
