Book Deployable Structures

Download or read book Deployable Structures written by S. Pellegrino and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-05-04 with total page 368 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Deployable structures can vary their shape automatically from a compact, packaged configuration to an expanded, operational configuration. The first properly engineered deployable structures were used as stabilization booms on early spacecraft. Later on, more complex structures were devised for solar arrays, communication reflectors and telescopes. In other fields there have been a variety of developments, including retractable roofs for stadia, foldable components for cars, portable structures for temporary shelters and exhibition displays. Three main themes are discussed in this book: concepts, working principles, and mechanics of deployable structures, both in engineering and biology; in addition: theory of foldable bar structures and application to deployable tensegrieties; formulation of large-rotation analysis of deployable structures and finite-element simulation methods.

Book Structures Technology

Download or read book Structures Technology written by Ahmed Khairy Noor and published by AIAA. This book was released on 1998 with total page 544 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Drawn from early volumes of Aerospace America and its antecedents, this book rescues the insights, concerns, and dreams of dozens of structural engineers for the next generation of aerospace scientists and engineers. Written by eminent individuals in structures, this book provides accessible source material for university-level design courses in aerospace engineering. The first paper in Structures Technology deals with new structures for future aerospace systems and provides a contrast between our current thinking and past technology plans. Succeeding papers are historical reports covering materials and structures, general structures technology, aircraft structures, space structures, and structural dynamics technology. You will also find sections covering structural configurations, thermal protection systems, subsonic aircraft, supersonic and hypersonic vehicles and structures for space systems.

Book Textile Composites and Inflatable Structures

Download or read book Textile Composites and Inflatable Structures written by Eugenio Oñate and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-03-30 with total page 324 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book collects state-of-the-art research and technology for design, analysis, construction and maintenance of textile and inflatable structures. Textile composites and inflatable structures have become increasingly popular for a variety of applications in OCo among many other fieldsaOCo civil engineering, architecture and aerospace engineering. Typical examples include membrane roofs and covers, sails, inflatable buildings and pavilions, airships, inflatable furniture, airspace structures etc. The book contains 18 invited contributions written by distinguished authors who participated in the International Conference on Textile Composites and Inflated Structures held in Barcelona from June 30th to July 2nd, 2003. The meeting was one of the Thematic Conferences of the European Community on Computational Methods in Applied Sciences (ECCOMAS). The different chapters discuss recent progress and future research directions in membrane and inflatable structures built with new textile composite materials. Approximately half of the book focuses on describing innovative numerical methods for structural analysis of such structures, such as new nonlinear membrane and shell finite elements. The rest of the chapters present advances in design, construction and maintenance procedures."

Book Aircraft Structures for Engineering Students

Download or read book Aircraft Structures for Engineering Students written by T.H.G. Megson and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-02-20 with total page 875 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Aircraft Structures for Engineering Students, Fifth Edition, is the leading self-contained aircraft structures course text. It covers all fundamental subjects, including elasticity, structural analysis, airworthiness, and aeroelasticity. The author has revised and updated the text throughout and added new examples and exercises using Matlab. Additional worked examples make the text even more accessible by showing the application of concepts to airframe structures. The text is designed for undergraduate and postgraduate students of aerospace and aeronautical engineering. It is also suitable for professional development and training courses. New worked examples throughout the text aid understanding and relate concepts to real world applications Matlab examples and exercises added throughout to support use of computational tools in analysis and design An extensive aircraft design project case study shows the application of the major techniques in the book

Book Composite Materials and Structures in Aerospace Engineering

Download or read book Composite Materials and Structures in Aerospace Engineering written by Erasmo Carrera and published by Trans Tech Publications Ltd. This book was released on 2016-03-01 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Composite structures are massively exploited in many engineering fields. For instance, the state-of-the-art civil aircraft (B787 and A350) are mostly made of composite materials. The design of composites leads to challenging tasks since those competencies that stemmed from the adoption of metallic materials are often inadequate for composites. Insights on many different disciplines and tight academic/industrial cooperation are required to fully exploit composite structure capabilities.
