Book Adventurous Beyond Barriers

Download or read book Adventurous Beyond Barriers written by DR SATYAKAM. DAS and published by . This book was released on 2018-03-18 with total page 236 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I was the numero-uno in everything means everything that my hands lay upon in any field. Life was peaceful yet really magnetizing but voila, due to a (brainy) clotting mechanism, everything was scattered. From childhood till date, life has taken umpteen number of turns for me but every point was an adventure... from the faultless riches to the agony of rags. Being a doctor means being only a 'doctor' because a doctor in my case is just a prefix to my name and nothing else. From the introductory speech (Before the Beginning) to the summary (The Epilogue), I shall open from the very start i.e. from my birth till today. I live in a world where the laws of one heroic act after another are just unfitting due to a disability. But I find the real disability in people who can't find joy in life and are bitter and malevolent. If you have a disability... whatever it takes, don't be mean to people. There is a plan and a purpose behind every act, no matter what is it's location, place or time. A genuine friend knows your weaknesses but shows you your strengths; feels your fears but fortifies your faith; sees your anxieties but frees your spirit; recognizes your disabilities but emphasizes your possibilities.

Book Nicosia Beyond Barriers

Download or read book Nicosia Beyond Barriers written by Alev Adil and published by Saqi Books. This book was released on 2019-06-06 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cyprus' capital Nicosia has been split by a militarised border for decades. In this collection, writers from all sides of the divide reimagine the past, present and future of their city. Here, Cypriot-Greeks coexist alongside Cypriot-Turks, the north with the south, town with countryside, dominant voices with the marginalised. This is a city of endless possibilities – a place where an anthropologist from London and a talkative Marxist are hunted by a gunman in the Forbidden zone; where a romance between two aspiring Tango dancers falls victim to Nicosia's time difference; and where an artist finds his workplace on a rooftop, where he paints a horizon disturbed only by birds. Together, these writers journey beyond the beaten track creating a complete picture of Nicosia, the world's last divided capital city, that defies barriers of all kinds.

Book Building Personal Success

Download or read book Building Personal Success written by Leonard Campagnaro and published by Leonard Campagnaro. This book was released on 2023-12-10 with total page 68 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this brief book, we invite readers to begin a journey toward inner guidance and managing their personal success. Starting a process of personal supervision is the first step towards transforming your own life, seeking a healthier state that is aligned with your needs and desires. The truth is that to become a more fulfilled person, it is essential to start this permanence at some point, and this involves changing the way you are. Each person is an architect of their personal universe, and if things do not meet your expectations, this signals the need for internal changes to obtain different results. Without a change to the internal configuration, the results will remain unchanged. In the following pages, we explore the 10 fundamental laws that will serve as a guide to achieving personal transformation and achieving your goals. We talk about these laws and principles that must be known and followed to achieve objectives aligned with your interests. When things don't work out as desired, we are often assuming it as "laws of failure" due to inappropriate thoughts and actions. There is a sequence of steps or procedures that must be followed to be successful in our objectives. By following these laws and procedures, success becomes a natural consequence, aligned with our desires. The main message of this work is that personal success is not a gift of fate or dependent on external factors. Success is an internal and individualized construction that requires personal planning and execution. Every success is based on fundamental steps, without which success is not lasting. Someone can get rich by luck, but they are more likely to lose everything if they don't understand these fundamentals. On the other hand, someone who understands and applies these laws can rebuild their success even after losses. Personal fulfillment goes beyond possessing materials and is based on values such as emotional, mental and psychological well-being, personal fulfillment and individual growth. These developments cannot be guaranteed by luck, as they are the result of personal maturation. This work highlights the importance of internal transformation, emphasizing that personal reconfiguration is essential before seeking external success. This involves strengthening self-confidence, changing mindset and acquiring self-discipline. Therefore, each reader will find valuable information, practical strategies, and a logical approach to cultivating personal success. True success begins when you decide to rebuild yourself internally and direct your journey towards your goals. As you explore these fundamental laws, think of them as tools available to help you build a more meaningful and secure life. However, it is crucial to remember that the most important step is the firm decision to transform yourself internally, improve your quality of life and move towards your desired goals. Regardless of the knowledge acquired, personal decision is the determining step in the journey of personal guidance.

Book Capitalism and the Enchanted Screen

Download or read book Capitalism and the Enchanted Screen written by Aleksandr Andreas Wansbrough and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 2020-12-10 with total page 233 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Myths such as Narcissus' reflection, Pandora's box, and Plato's cave have been used to frame modern technological dangers; often to describe people absorbed in their own digital reflections. Such speculation either purports that technology has a magical power or else that technology merely represents human nature unchanged from the myth's inception. But those accounts ignore the paradoxical understandings of the power relationships allegorized, where people are manipulated by higher forces beyond their comprehension. Working from the assumption that capitalism rather than God is the highest power, this book examines mythic anticipations of the screen and digital technology from European literature, poetry, folklore and philosophy. Digital technology and social media are approached not as reflections of human nature but capitalist ideology's power to enchant. To this end, Capitalism and the Enchanted Screen also surveys a diverse variety of films, digital media and contemporary artworks to understand and critique how myths are reimagined today.

National Book Foundation 5 Under 35 Award winner Charles Yu delivers his debut novel, a razor-sharp, ridiculously funny, and utterly touching story of a son searching for his father . . . through quantum space–time. Minor Universe 31 is a vast story-space on the outskirts of fiction, where paradox fluctuates like the stock market, lonely sexbots beckon failed protagonists, and time travel is serious business. Every day, people get into time machines and try to do the one thing they should never do: change the past. That’s where Charles Yu, time travel technician—part counselor, part gadget repair man—steps in. He helps save people from themselves. Literally. When he’s not taking client calls or consoling his boss, Phil, who could really use an upgrade, Yu visits his mother (stuck in a one-hour cycle of time, she makes dinner over and over and over) and searches for his father, who invented time travel and then vanished. Accompanied by TAMMY, an operating system with low self-esteem, and Ed, a nonexistent but ontologically valid dog, Yu sets out, and back, and beyond, in order to find the one day where he and his father can meet in memory. He learns that the key may be found in a book he got from his future self. It’s called How to Live Safely in a Science Fictional Universe, and he’s the author. And somewhere inside it is the information that could help him—in fact it may even save his life. Wildly new and adventurous, Yu’s debut is certain to send shock waves of wonder through literary space–time.
