This book was released on 2018-09-26 with total page 177 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Herein are 32 adventures of the Teenie Weenies. While they are small in stature, they have the hearts of heroes. But just who are the Teenie Weenies? The Teenie Weenies are a very tiny, little people and are about half an inch, or just over a centimetre, in height. The older Teenie Weenies are from two and a half to three inches tall ( 6 to 8 cm). Paddy Pinn is the tallest one and he really is a Teenie Weenie giant, for he stands four inches (10cm) in his stocking feet. The little folks are so small that a lead pencil is to them a great log and a clothes pin will keep the tiny fire place burning for some time. A large tea cup would almost hold the entire family and they could go swimming all at once in a wash basin. So, if a piece of cheese goes missing from the fridge, or a reel of cotton should disappear, you now know better than to ask “why.” And, the next time you are in the kitchen making a midnight snack, be sure to TREAD CAREFULLY! Also included are 9 full page colour plates with many, many pen and ink vignettes sprinkled throughout the volume bring the stories to life. This book was released on 2020-07-13 with total page 141 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In TEENIE WEENIES IN THE WILDWOOD, the Poet and the Lady of Fashion get kidnapped by the Wild Men, and the rest of the Teenie Weenies mount a rescue expedition. This book contains 8 full colour plates and many, many Pen and Ink Vignettes. The Teenie Weenies had known for some time that a tribe of tiny wild men lived in a big swamp many teenie weenie miles from the shoe house. Field mice and birds had carried the news of these strange little people to the Teenie Weenies for some time. The wild men spoke a language quite different from the Teenie Weenies. “These wild men are very cruel,” a friendly bird told the Teenie Weenies. “They are called Saboes, or frog eaters, and they would just as soon destroy a person as look at him.” Despite leaving them alone, one afternoon a snail “raced” up to the shoe house with alarming news—the Lady of Fashion and the Poet had been captured by the wild men! “Gracious!” gasped the General who then ordered the alarm bell be rung. In a few minutes, two birds flew under the rose bush where the village stood and one by one, several mice, a squirrel and a couple of intelligent-looking bugs appeared. “Friends,” said the General, addressing the assembled crowd, “I have terrible news! The Lady of Fashion and the Poet have been captured by the wild men. This—this snail here has just brought the report.” The Teenie Weenies and their friends were much shocked by the news. They decide to mount a rescue and plans are put into action. To break open the enemy fortress, the Teenie Weenies hire a mole to dig a tunnel, and mine the wall with a firecracker. But what happened next? Did they manage to mine the enemy’s camp and set the mine off? Was a peaceful solution found, or did they have to use force to break the Poet and the Lady of Fashion out? Download or read book ADVENTURES IN WALLYPUG LAND 17 Children s Adventures in the Land of Wallypug written by George Edward Farrow and published by Abela Publishing Ltd. This book was released on 2020-06-02 with total page 166 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the tradition of Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland, the WALLYPUG OF WHY is rich in nonsense and absurd situations and it humorously depicts life in late-Victorian times. The novel's protagonist, known only as Girlie, finds a letter written home by her youngest brother (known only as Boy). The letter protrudes slightly from its envelope, and Girlie is able to read the following: "I have found a goo." Rather than extract the letter from its envelope and read it completely, Girlie pauses to wonder what a "goo" might be — which leads to a chain of fantastic events. She visits the land of Why, the source of all questions and answers, where the Wallypug is supposedly the king. It is a topsy-turvy place: the Wallypug must address all the citizens as 'Your Majesty' and do what people tell him to do. Many of the residents are talking animals with curious habits and quirks of personality — including a "socialistic cockatoo." The original was illustrated by Harry Furniss, who had collaborated with Lewis Carroll on Sylvie and Bruno (1889) and Sylvie and Bruno Concluded (1893). Vignettes were provided Dorothy Furniss (1879–1944), Furniss’s 15-year-old daughter. 10% of the profit from the sale of this book will be donated to charities. Yesterday’s Books for Today’s Charities ====================== The Wallypug of Why was first published in 1895 and is a children's novel by G. E. Farrow. The book is an exercise in humorous nonsense, rich in wordplay and absurd situations - much in the tradition of Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. A popular success with children in its day, it inaugurated a series of “Adventures by the Wallypug.” This was Farrow's first book and it was well received by the reviewers who likened it to Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, and was enthusiastically received by its child readers. The Wallypug of Why undeniably owes a great deal to Lewis Carroll. In the latter decades of the 19th century there were many Alice imitations, many of them very close to the original. Of these imitators Farrow is easily the best, and also the most prolific. The Wallypug is a genuinely original and endearing character, a "nervous little nonentity who in theory rules the land of Why, but in practice is ruled by his subjects whom he addresses as 'Your Majesty. Harry Furniss's drawings of the Wallypug with his crown tipped over one eye caught the character so well that other illustrators who worked on the Wallypug sequels copied the Furniss interpretation. ====================== TAGS: #Childrens_stories, #ChildrensBooks, #Folklore, #Fairy, #Folk, #Tales, #bedtime_story, #legends, #storyteller, #fables, #moral_tales, #myths, #happiness, #companions, #comrades, #Wallypug, #Majesty, #Olive, #bluedwarfs, #Esq, #Doctor-in-Law, #Auntie, #Cockatoo, #Kis-Smee, #Rex, #Oom, #Ho-Lor, #Sister-in-Law, #old, #poor, #horse, #Kangaroo, #palace, #Mi-Hy, #pretty, #strange, #shouted, #creatures, #shute, #color, #colour, #porter, #station-master, #afraid, #Crow, #forest, #Wallypugland, #Crocodile, #scream, #train, #Turtle, #village, #Blush, #Madame, #Pelican, #uncle, #Gra-Shus, #laugh, #carpet-bag, #crown, #Mike, #Olive, #bottle, #Ape, #bank, #beautiful, #fir cones, #Gombobble, #ridiculous, #aunt, #barrier, #bears, #book, #London, #bedroom, #bottom, #China, #fairies, #Oom-Hi, #Ough, #Will-o’-the-wisp, #Withdraw, #wives, #wretched looking, #Strange Welcome, #Terrible Night, #Late, #Breakfast, #Depose, #Foil, #Little_Blue_People, #Crown, #Wer-Har-Wei, #Railway, #Complexion
Download or read book The BOOK of TEDDY BEARS Adventures of the Teddy Bears written by ADAH LOUISE SUTTON and published by Abela Publishing Ltd. This book was released on 2020 with total page 138 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: THE crate in which the Teddy bears had journeyed from their birthplace in the factory to the big department store had at last arrived and was being unpacked, much to the delight of its occupants. Being packed so tightly in tissue paper meant they had not been able to move, even as much as a whisker. Some made the whole trip standing on their heads! Deft hands now unpacked them. Their coats were brushed until they shone, and their limbs were carefully straightened. Some were dressed in delightful sweaters and peaked toboggan caps, with the cutest leggings to match. Others were arrayed in little cotton overalls and a few in the most fascinating pyjamas. Most of them, however, wore only their own furry coats. And very fine they looked after all the brushing and grooming. THE Teddy bears sold like hot cakes. Never before had any one toy called forth such a demand, and very soon they were being wrapped in fine paper, ribbons and bows. But one afternoon a car stopped out front of the store. Out of it stepped a fashionably dressed woman, and after her sprang out a plump little girl. She had round, rosy cheeks and a pair of round blue eyes. She couldn’t make up her mind as to which bear she wanted, so her mother bought them all for her. This is how the Teddy Bears met Sally and this was the start of their many adventures. What were the adventures you ask? Well, you’ll have to download this book and read them for yourself. If you can’t read, then ask your mother or father to read them to you at bedtime. Only, be sure not to fall asleep in the middle of an adventure! 10% of the profit from the sale of this book will be donated by the publisher to charity. ======= KEYWORDS/TAGS: Teddy Bears, adventures, action, travel, , Peter Pan, Sally, Bedelia, beautiful, Bob, children, discover, mamma, North, nursery, queer, strange, Tim, toys, twins, two, water, well, white, Farm, Valley, Sweet, Visit, John, Tumble, fall, a New Idea, at the Cleaners, Ball, Abscond, Sea Voyage, Literary, Halloween, Dream Child, home

This book was released on 2020-04-26 with total page 152 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ROOTABAGA STORIES were born of Carl Sandburg's imagination and desire to inspire intellectual freedom and curiosity within children's lives. Sandburg creates a world where children's hearts and minds are freed from “normality” and are set free to soar. The land of Rootabaga is inspired by the magic of the American Midwest. Rootabaga country comes alive with friends with fantastic names and creatures like, Corn Fairies, Broom Can Handle It, Hot Dog the Tiger, and the Wind Blue Boy. In Rootabaga “the first words they speak as soon as they learn to make words shall be their names,” he said. “They shall name themselves.” That's how things go in Rootabaga, Axe me no questions, for Please Gimme don't knows-- here the windows are either open or shut, either upstairs or downstairs, just keep your eyes open and keep breathing, believing, and reading. They explore farms, trains, sidewalks, and skyscrapers- embrace the unknown and create the impossible. Potato Face Blind Man, an old minstrel of the Village of Liver-and-Onions, hangs out in front of the local post office telling stories and is the narrative guide in Rootabaga Country. The village of Liver-and-Onions is in Rootabaga Country, and is the silliest, biggest village of Rootabaga land. Potato Face Blind Man sits with his accordion on the corner nearest the post office. With his unseeing eyes, looking out and always searching, he sometimes finds within himself the whole human procession." The lesson of the Rootabaga books is, never restrict a child’s imagination, for it is from the imaginations of minds, unfettered by the rules and conventions taught in schools that amazing, innovative leaps in technology are made. Gene Roddenberry, who wrote the Star Trek series, also conceived of the hand held, mobile communicator, which we know today as cell, or, mobile phone. 10% of the profit from the sale of this book is donated to charities. Download or read book THE NURSERY ALICE A Children s Edition of Alice s Adventures in Wonderland written by Lewis Carroll and published by Abela Publishing Ltd. This book was released on 2020-03-11 with total page 67 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The Nursery Alice" is a shortened and simplified version of "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" also created by Lewis Carroll in 1889/90 especially for children aged “0 to 5”. This edition was created twenty-five years after the original full-length work was published. Adapted by the author himself for children this is in effect an easy-to-read edition for preschool children. It includes 20 of John Tenniel's illustrations from the original book, redrawn, enlarged, coloured – and, in some cases, revised – by Tenniel himself The work is not merely a shortened and simplified version, along the lines of “Alice's Adventures in Wonderland” retold in words of one syllable. It is written as though the story is being read aloud by someone who is also talking to the child/listener, with many interpolations by the author, pointing out details in the pictures and asking questions, such as "Which would you have liked the best, do you think, to be a little tiny Alice, no larger than a kitten, or a great tall Alice, with your head always knocking against the ceiling?" There are also additions, such as an anecdote about a puppy called Dash, and an explanation of the word "foxglove". ============== KEYWORDS/TAGS: Alice in Wonderland, adventures, white rabbit, mad hatter, tea party, queen of hearts, knave of hearts, dream, fantasy, unreal, nursery Alice, mothers with children, parents with children, fathers with children, grandparents, accident, accused, afraid, alone, amusement, angel-hands, angry, animal, Ann, archers, arm-chair, asleep, babies, Baby, balls, Bantam-Cock, beautiful, Bill, birthday, present, birthday treat, Bliss, bread and butter, breast, buns, calf’s head, Caterpillar, cathedral, Caucus Race, Cheshire Cat, Child, children, chimney, Christmas tide, Churchpocket, corners, Croquet, crokay, dance, Dash, deedy, Dodo, dogs eared, doll, Dormouse, Duchess, Duck, Eaglet, Easter, Fairies, folklore, myth and legend, Ferret, fire place, Flamingo, Folk’s Gloves, fountain, Foxes, Fox Glove, foxglove, gay, glee, glitter, glorious, God, good-bye, goodbye, grand, Grew, grey headed, grinning, Gryphon, Hare, Hatter, Heaven, Hedgehog, hedge-hog, Hippopotamus, hookah, Judge, Jury, King, kiss, Knave, Jack of Hearts, laughter, Lizard, Lobster-Quadrille, Lory, Love, Mad, magic, March, Mary, Mists, mouse hole, naked, Nursery, oatmeal porridge, Pig baby, pocket, handkerchief, poem, prisoner, Puppy, Queen, Prince, Rabbit, rabbit hole, racecourse, robber, roses, rose tree, rumpled, saucer, serpent, shillings, Shower, Song, Squirrel, Storkling, Sun, sweet, swimming, tarts, Tea, teacups, thimble, toy cupboard, ugly, undraw, vain, vanity, vanish, waggon, waistcoat, White rabbit, wicked, Wonderland, wooden, wriggle, young, fables, bedtime stories, children’s stories,

Download or read book AS THE GOOSE FLIES A Magical Children s Adventure Story written by Katharine Pyle and published by Abela Publishing Ltd. This book was released on 2020-03-12 with total page 127 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “As the Goose Flies” written and illustrated by Katherine Pyle. Ellen stood at the nursery window looking out at the gray sky and the wet, blowing branches of the trees. It had been raining and blowing all day. The roof pipes poured out steady waterfalls; the lilacs bent over, heavy with the rain. Up in the sky a bird was trying to beat its way home against the wind. But Ellen was not thinking of any of these things. She was thinking of the story that her grandmother had forgotten again. Ellen's grandmother was very old; so old that she often called Ellen by the names of her own little children; children who had grown up or died years and years ago. She was so old she could remember things that had happened seventy years before, but then she forgot a great many things, even things that had occurred only a few minutes before. While she stood there it occurred to her that she should put the bookcase in order before she went down to the sewing-room. That was just the thing to do on a rainy day. So, she sat down before the shelves and began pulling the books out. The nursery walls were covered with a flowered paper, and when Ellen had almost emptied the shelves she noticed that the paper back of them was of a different color from that of the rest of the room. It had not faded. The blue color between the vines looked soft and cloudlike, too, and almost as though it would melt away at a touch. Ellen put her hand back to feel it. Instead of touching a hard, cold wall as she had expected, her hand went right through between the vines as though there were nothing there. Ellen rose to her knees and put both hands across the shelf. She found she could draw the vines aside just as though they were real. She even thought she caught a glimpse of skies and trees between them. In haste she sprang to her feet and pushed the bookcase to one side so that she could squeeze in behind it. Download or read book GOBLIN TALES OF LANCASHIRE 26 illustrated tales about the goblins fairies elves pixies and ghosts of Lancashire written by Anon E. Mouse and published by Abela Publishing Ltd. This book was released on 2018-09-13 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Herein are 26 illustrated tales about the goblins, fairies, elves, pixies, and ghosts of Lancashire for children. As you can see this book is not only about goblins but rather about the many beings which inhabit the lands of the Fairy Kingdom. Herein you will find stories like: * The White Dobbie * The Skriker, or Shrieker * The Unbidden Guest * The Fairy's Spade * The King Of The Fairies * The Captured Fairies * The Pillion Lady * The Fairy Funeral * The Silver Token * The Rescue Of Moonbeam; plus many, many more. But are goblins really as bad as they’ve been made out to be? Over the years, we have been told to think of Goblins as the most undesirable members of the Fairy kingdom. Well, if all the stories we read are only about the bad, or evil, Goblins, then that is likely to sway our opinion. It reminds me of the old adage, “The victorious in battle, get to write the world’s history.” In times well past, it is easy to understand how the unlettered peasant could people desolate areas with beings of another world; either the bleak fells, the deep and gloomy gorges, the wild cloughs, the desolate moorland wastes; or the salt marshes where the breeze-bent and mysterious-looking trees waved their spectral boughs in the wind; the dark pools fringed with reeds, amid which the 'Peg-o'-Lantron' flickered and danced, and over which came the hollow cry of the bittern and the child-like plaint of the plover; and the dreary glens, dark lakes, and long stretches of sand of the north and west. To them the forest was a place of solemn, Rembrandt-esque gloom, where Druids erst heard victims groan, the lonely fir-crowned pikes, and the mist-shrouded mountains, would seem fitting homes for the dread shapes whose spite ended itself in the misfortunes and misery of humanity. Pregnant with mystery to such a mind would be the huge fells, with their shifting 'neetcaps' of cloud, the towering bluffs, the swampy moors, and trackless morasses, across which the setting sun cast floods of blood-red light; and irresistible would be the influence of such scenery upon the imagination of lonely traveler riding, or walking, between villages and towns at night, with a feeling that he was surrounded by the supernatural. So sit back with a steamy beverage and be prepared to be entertained for many-an-hour. 10% of the net sale will be donated to charities by the publisher. ============== KEYWORDS/TAGS: Goblins of Lancashire, fairy tales, folklore, myths, legends, children’s stories, childrens stories, bygone era, fairydom, ethereal, fairy land, classic stories, children’s bedtime stories, happy place, happiness, elf, elves, pixie, piskie, supernatural, Skriker, Unbidden, Guest, Fairy's Spade, King Of The Fairies, Mother And Child, Spectral Cat, Captured Fairies, Pillion Lady, Fairy Funeral, Chivalrous Devil, Enchanted Fisherman, Sands Of Cocker, Silver Token, Headless Woman, Rescue Of Moonbeam, sun, moon, White Dobbie, Little Man's Gift, Satan's Supper, Earthenware Goose, Phantom Of The Fell, Allhallow's Night, Christmas-Eve Vigil, Crier Of Claife, Demon Of The Oak, Black Cock, Invisible Burden
