Download or read book Advanced Psychosomatic Research in Obstetrics and Gynecology written by Dietmar Richter and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 249 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Gynecologists cannot fulfill the commitments of their profession without being psychosomatically oriented. Nevertheless, this field needs methodology and scientific thinking just as does any other subspeciality in clinical medicine. Although practiced by all gyne cologists, creative work is needed in order to develop the various aspects properly and to establish postgraduate training on a firm and sound basis. For this purpuse the European Symposia have been planned by several European Researchers on Psychosomatic Obstetrics and Gynecology in order to stimulate and integrate clinical scientific data and therapeutic skills in the bio-psycho-social field of obstetrics and gynecology. The first European Symposium in Leuven 1985 concentrated on the psychosomatic aspects of infertility and high risk pregnancies. This second European Symposium in Bad Sackingen centered around disturbed body perception, disturbances of the menstrual cycle, climacteric syndrome, and senium. These topics were elaborated in main lectures and workshops held by outstanding researchers in this rapidly expanding field. The second European Symposium on Psychosomatic Obstetrics and Gynecology was organized by the German Society of Psycho somatic Obstetrics and Gynecology, supported by the University Hospital Freiburg/Br., the University Hospital Basel, and the Women's District Hospital in Bad Sackingen.

Book excerpt: We are delighted to publish this second edition of Anorexia Nervosa: Guidelines for Assessment and Treatment in Primary and Secondary Care, based on the first author's long-standing "St George's" Approach, which has been so well received since it was first published in 1994. The book aims to outline in a clear, practical way, the minimal intervention necessary within primary and secondary care settings if the psychopathology of this serious and life-threatening illness is first to be identified and then treated with some hope of success. This first attempt at a time-limited and basic meaningful intervention involves concurrent use by both patient and therapist (and also, to some extent, the family) of the 'self-help' book Anorexia Nervosa: The Wish to Change and the Patient's Log Book, and all three books can be purchased as a package.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The fourth edition of this book updates and elaborates on the seven dimensions of maternal emotional health that have significant impact on delivery, postpartum adaptation, infant health, and early childhood development. The book provides a theoretical framework with rationales for the seven psychosocial dimensions, therapeutic and counseling intervention strategies to improve adaptive development in each of the seven psychosocial dimensions, findings specific to women in diverse cultural groups, a chapter devoted to women in the military and military spouses, and discussion of salient issues of pregnancy, including physical changes, body image, intimacy, trust, and ambivalence. The book focuses on the seven dimensions of maternal prenatal emotional health: Acceptance of the pregnancy. Motivation and preparation for motherhood. Relationship with husband/partner. Relationship with her own mother. Preparation for labor. Sense of control in labor Self-Esteem and Well-Being in labor. Psychosocial Adaptation to Pregnancy is a significant addition to the psychosocial assessment literature, a needed resource for clinical and health psychologists, clinical social workers, marriage and family therapists, professional counselors, midwives, and obstetrical nurses. Book Management of Labor and Delivery

Download or read book Management of Labor and Delivery written by George A. Macones and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2016-01-13 with total page 568 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The process of labor and delivery has been one of the most perilous activities in human life. The awkward evolutionary compromises giving rise to humans makes birthing potentially life threatening for both mother and child. Despite the development of modern care, labor and delivery continues to be a dangerous process even though the levels of fatality have decreased over the past several decades. This clinically focused guide to modern labor and delivery care covers low and high-risk situations, the approach of the team in achieving a successful outcome and what to consider when quick decisions have to be made. Aimed at both trainee and practicing obstetrician-gynecologists, this new edition includes practical guidance such as algorithms, protocols, and quick-reference summaries. It is squarely focused on the process of birth and concentrates on modern clinical concerns, blending science with clinical applications.
