Book Air Dispersion Modeling

Download or read book Air Dispersion Modeling written by Alex De Visscher and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2013-09-26 with total page 526 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A single reference to all aspects of contemporary air dispersion modeling The practice of air dispersion modeling has changed dramatically in recent years, in large part due to new EPA regulations. Current with the EPA's 40 CFR Part 51, this book serves as a complete reference to both the science and contemporary practice of air dispersion modeling. Throughout the book, author Alex De Visscher guides readers through complex calculations, equation by equation, helping them understand precisely how air dispersion models work, including such popular models as the EPA's AERMOD and CALPUFF. Air Dispersion Modeling begins with a primer that enables readers to quickly grasp basic principles by developing their own air dispersion model. Next, the book offers everything readers need to work with air dispersion models and accurately interpret their results, including: Full chapter dedicated to the meteorological basis of air dispersion Examples throughout the book illustrating how theory translates into practice Extensive discussions of Gaussian, Lagrangian, and Eulerian air dispersion modeling Detailed descriptions of the AERMOD and CALPUFF model formulations This book also includes access to a website with Microsoft Excel and MATLAB files that contain examples of air dispersion model calculations. Readers can work with these examples to perform their own calculations. With its comprehensive and up-to-date coverage, Air Dispersion Modeling is recommended for environmental engineers and meteorologists who need to perform and evaluate environmental impact assessments. The book's many examples and step-by-step instructions also make it ideal as a textbook for students in the fields of environmental engineering, meteorology, chemical engineering, and environmental sciences.

Book Analytical Heat Transfer

Download or read book Analytical Heat Transfer written by Je-Chin Han and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2022-06-24 with total page 467 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Analytical Heat Transfer explains how to analyze and solve conduction, convection, and radiation heat transfer problems. It enables students to tackle complex engineering heat transfer problems prevalent in practice. Covering heat transfer in high-speed flows and unsteady highly turbulent flows, the book also discusses enhanced heat transfer in channels, heat transfer in rotating channels, numerical modeling for turbulent flow heat transfer, and thermally developing heat transfer in a circular tube. The second edition features new content on Duhamel’s superposition method, Green’s function method for transient heat conduction, finite-difference method for steady state and transient heat conduction in cylindrical coordinates, and laminar mixed convection. It includes two new chapters on laminar-to-turbulent transitional heat transfer and turbulent flow heat transfer enhancement, in addition to end-of-chapter problems. The book bridges the gap between basic heat transfer undergraduate courses and advanced heat transfer graduate courses for a single semester of intermediate heat transfer, advanced conduction/radiation heat transfer, or convection heat transfer. Features: Focuses on analyzing and solving classic heat transfer problems in conduction, convection, and radiation Covers 2-D and 3-D view factor evaluation, combined radiation with conduction and/or convection, and gas radiation optically thin and optically thick limits Features updated content and new chapters on mass and heat transfer analogy, thermally developing heat transfer in a circular tube, laminar-turbulent transitional heat transfer, unsteady highly turbulent flows, enhanced heat transfer in channels, heat transfer in rotating channels, and numerical modeling for turbulent flow heat transfer Provides step-by-step mathematical formula derivations, analytical solution procedures, and demonstration examples Includes end-of-chapter problems with an accompanying Solutions Manual for instructors This book is ideal for undergraduate and graduate students studying basic heat transfer and advanced heat transfer.

Book Lecture Notes On Engineering Human Thermal Comfort

Download or read book Lecture Notes On Engineering Human Thermal Comfort written by David S-k Ting and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2020-03-13 with total page 279 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Human thermal comfort, namely in the areas of heating, ventilation and air conditioning (collectively known as 'HVAC'), is ubiquitous wherever human habitation may be found. Today, a large portion of the developed world's current energy demands are used to artificially keep the temperatures of our environments comfortable. It is therefore imperative for everyone, decision-makers and engineers alike, involved with the future of energy to be appropriately acquainted with HVAC.Lecture Notes on Engineering Human Thermal Comfort explains the quintessence of engineering human thermal comfort through straight-forward writing designed to help students better comprehend the materials presented. Illustrative figures, anecdotal banter, and ironical analogies interject the necessary technical humdrum to provide timeous stimuli in the midst of arduous technical details. This book is primarily for senior undergraduate engineering students interested in engineering human thermal comfort. It invokes some undergraduate knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics as needed, to enable students to appreciate thermal comfort engineering without the need to seek out other textbooks.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This text on the statistical theory of nonequilibrium phenomena grew out of lecture notes for courses on advanced statistical mechanics that were held more or less regularly at the Physics Department of the Technical University in Munich. My aim in these lectures was to incorporate various developments of many-body theory made during the last 20-30 years, in particular the correlation function approach, not just as an "extra" alongside the more "classical" results; I tried to use this approach as a unifying concept for the presentation of older as well as more recent results. I think that after so many excellent review articles and advanced treatments, correlation functions and memory kernels are as much a matter of course in nonequilibrium statistical physics as partition functions are in equilibrium theory, and should be used as such in regular courses and textbooks. The relations between correlation functions and earlier vehicles for the formulation of nonequilibrium theory such as kinetic equations, master equations, Onsager's theory, etc. , are discussed in detail in this volume. Since today there is growing interest in nonlinear phenomena I have included several chapters on related problems. There is some nonlinear response theory, some results on phenomenological nonlinear equations and some microscopic applications of the nonlinear response formalism. The main focus, however, is on the linear regime.
