Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book constitutes refereed proceedings of the Workshops of the 16th European Dependable Computing Conference, EDCC: 1st Workshop on Articial Intelligence for Railways, AI4RAILS 2020, 1st Worskhop on Dynamic Risk Management for Autonomous Systems, DREAMS 2020, 2nd Workshop on Dependable Solutions for Intelligent Electricity Distribution Grids, DSOGRI 2020, 12th Workshop on Software Engineering for Resilient Systems, SERENE 2020, held in September 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the workshops were held virtually. The 12 full papers and 4 short papers were thoroughly reviewed and selected from 35 submissions. The workshop papers complement the main conference topics by addressing dependability or security issues in specic application domains or by focussing in specialized topics, such as system resilience.
Download or read book Intelligent Vehicles written by Felipe Jiménez and published by Butterworth-Heinemann. This book was released on 2017-09-08 with total page 505 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Intelligent Road Vehicles examines specific aspects of intelligent vehicles such as enabling technologies, human factors and an analysis of social and economic impacts. The book is an invaluable resource for those pursuing deeper knowledge in the intelligent vehicles field, providing readers with an idea of current and future technologies, current projects and developments and the future of intelligent vehicles. Intelligent road vehicles are becoming a challenging area of research worldwide. Apart from the final applications and systems in vehicles, there are many enabling technologies that should be introduced. Communications and automation are two key areas for future automobiles. This book benefits from collaboration on the Thematic Network on Intelligent Vehicles led by Felipe Jimenez. - Provides a general overview of different aspects related to intelligent road vehicles (sensors, applications, communications, automation, human factors, etc.) - Addresses the different components and building blocks of intelligent vehicles in a single, comprehensive reference - Explains how sensors are interpreted, including how different sensor readings are fused - Addresses issues involved with avoiding collisions and other factors such as pot holes, unclear road lines or markings, and unexpected weather conditions

Download or read book City Logistics written by Eiichi Taniguchi and published by Emerald Group Publishing. This book was released on 2001-01 with total page 252 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents fundamental concepts and general approaches to City Logistics. City Logistics is the process of totally optimising urban logistics activities by considering the social, environmental, economic, financial and energy impacts of urban freight movement. City Logistics initiatives are required to solve urban freight transport problems including high levels of traffic congestion, negative environmental impacts, high energy consumption and a shortage of labour. The focus of this work is on modelling City Logistics. Modelling is of crucial importance, since estimates of the impacts generated by City Logistics measures are required for evaluating them. It highlights the formulation of mathematical models of vehicle routing and scheduling with Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), optimal terminal locations and impact estimation by City Logistics measures. Heuristics techniques such as genetic algorithms, simulated annealing and tabu search are also given to identify approximate optimal solution of these combinatorial optimisation problems. ITS provides powerful tools for efficiently managing and operating vehicle fleets. Sophisticated logistics systems can now be developed by integrating Global Positioning Systems (GPS) and Geographical Information Systems (GIS) in conjunction with application software. In this context, the book presents a theoretical and practical treatment of modelling City Logistics based on ITS.
