Book Deer Hunter s Devotional

Download or read book Deer Hunter s Devotional written by Sean Jeffries and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2010-11-04 with total page 150 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Deer Hunter's Devotional steps out into new territory for author Sean Jeffries. While his two previous works explored the world of hunting and fishing from a secular perspective, in this newest volume he combines his love of the outdoors with his Christianity. Exploring topics such as scouting for deer during the preseason, choosing your hunting equipment, and the excitement of opening day, each chapter in the book ties these lessons in with carefully selected scripture chosen to highlight the subject at hand. The author is not afraid to delve deep into the importance of sound doctrine, and each day's reading will leave you with wisdom to apply to your own Christian walk. The first book in the "Hunting for the Heart of God" series, Deer Hunter's Devotional is a timely piece of literature for today's sportsman. Containing over forty entries designed to challenge the reader and provoke him to deep thought about hunting and his own Christianity, the book kicks off the author's new series with a bang and sets the tone for the works that will follow in its trail. This is definitely not your mama's devotional!

In the Shooter’s Bible Guide to Bowhunting Dr. Kuhn examines all things bowhunting and archery. Topics covered include: Compound, recurve, and traditional bows Arrows and broadheads Sights and rests Releases and triggers Quivers Tree stands, blinds, decoys, and other popular gear This exhaustive desk reference provides a never before seen look into the history and engineering of archery, theories and trends in game discipline, and, of course, an exhaustive catalog of archery equipment both new and traditional.

Its 1740-1745 time period makes it the first installment chronologically and in the lifetime of the hero of the Leatherstocking tales, Natty Bumppo. The novel's setting on Otsego Lake in central, upstate New York, is the same as that of The Pioneers, the first of the Leatherstocking Tales to be published (1823). Book Soul Repair

  • Author : Rita Nakashima Brock
  • Publisher : Beacon Press
  • Release : 2012-11-06
  • ISBN : 0807029084
  • Pages : 114 pages

Download or read book Soul Repair written by Rita Nakashima Brock and published by Beacon Press. This book was released on 2012-11-06 with total page 114 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first book to explore the idea and effect of moral injury on veterans, their families, and their communities Although veterans make up only 7 percent of the U.S. population, they account for an alarming 20 percent of all suicides. And though treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder has undoubtedly alleviated suffering and allowed many service members returning from combat to transition to civilian life, the suicide rate for veterans under thirty has been increasing. Research by Veterans Administration health professionals and veterans’ own experiences now suggest an ancient but unaddressed wound of war may be a factor: moral injury. This deep-seated sense of transgression includes feelings of shame, grief, meaninglessness, and remorse from having violated core moral beliefs. Rita Nakashima Brock and Gabriella Lettini, who both grew up in families deeply affected by war, have been working closely with vets on what moral injury looks like, how vets cope with it, and what can be done to heal the damage inflicted on soldiers’ consciences. In Soul Repair, the authors tell the stories of four veterans of wars from Vietnam to our current conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan—Camillo “Mac” Bica, Herman Keizer Jr., Pamela Lightsey, and Camilo Mejía—who reveal their experiences of moral injury from war and how they have learned to live with it. Brock and Lettini also explore its effect on families and communities, and the community processes that have gradually helped soldiers with their moral injuries. Soul Repair will help veterans, their families, members of their communities, and clergy understand the impact of war on the consciences of healthy people, support the recovery of moral conscience in society, and restore veterans to civilian life. When a society sends people off to war, it must accept responsibility for returning them home to peace.
