Download or read book Integrated Care in Europe written by Arno van Raak and published by Reed Business. This book was released on 2003 with total page 216 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book Integrated Care in Europe examines the provision of integrated care in Finland, Sweden, Austria, Spain, the Netherlands, and England. It is written by authors from these countries. Several target groups are described, but the elderly with multiple needs are the main focus. The country-specific chapters address the main characteristics of their care systems, and cover care sectors, funding, legislation and policy; the nature of integrated care (target groups, providers and services, organisational features of care delivery); promoting and inhibiting factors; a case description for illustrative purposes; and reflections. Taking the six countries as the basis the book compares and contrasts the countries, draws lessons, presents a number of useful tools, and makes a number of suggestions for further study and research. There is also an appendix with a checklist for managers interested in optimising integrated care.
Download or read book EBOOK Decentralization in Health Care Strategies and Outcomes written by Richard Saltman and published by McGraw-Hill Education (UK). This book was released on 2005-12-16 with total page 276 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Decentralization has become a popular management strategy in many European health care systems. The term describes a wide variety of power transfer arrangements and accountability systems. The logic of decentralization is grounded in an intrinsically powerful idea; that smaller organizations, properly structured and steered, are inherently more agile and accountable than larger organizations. In a world where large organizations control wide swathes of both public and private sector activity, the possibility of establishing more locally operated, locally responsible institutions holds out great attraction. This text explores the capacity and impact of decentralization within European health care systems. It examines both the theoretical underpinnings as well as recent practical experiences, drawing upon both published literature and evidence collected directly from the field. The book also assesses the appropriateness of management processes within health systems for implementing a successful decentralization strategy. Decentralization in Health Care will appeal to health policy makers, postgraduates taking courses in health services management, HR, health policy and health economics, and human resource professionals.
Download or read book Transport Environment and Health written by World Health Organization. Regional Office for Europe and published by WHO Regional Office Europe. This book was released on 2000 with total page 87 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book brings together the scientific evidence on the main effects of transport on human health and the environment. It sets the conceptual framework for future analyses of the health burden and health gains from transport policies. It outlines how these health concerns have been reflected in policy tools such as impact assessment, regulation and economic analysis, and identifies the areas where action is most needed. Discussions of the environment and health effects of transport need to be communicated in a way that is relevant for policy-makers and easily understood by nonscientists. That is the aim of this book, which summarizes the results of extensive reviews of the issues prepared by groups of prominent international experts. It is also planned to release the reviews themselves, to give a more detailed account of the scientific evidence. [Foreword]
Download or read book Osteoporosis written by and published by . This book was released on 2012 with total page 97 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There are a number of therapies and treatments available for the prevention of fragility fractures in people thought to be at risk, or to prevent further fractures in those who have already had one or more fragility fractures. However, identifying who will benefit from preventative treatment is imprecise. A number of risk assessment tools are available to predict fracture incidence over a period of time, and these may be used to aid decision making. These tools are limited in that they may not include all risk factors, or may lack details of some risk factors. Tools are dependent on the accuracy of the epidemiological data used to derive them and tools validated in other populations may not apply to the UK. Two tools, FRAX and QFracture, are available for use in the UK. It is not clear whether these tools are equally accurate and whether choice of tool should depend on circumstances. This short clinical guideline aims to provide guidance on the selection and use of risk assessment tools in the care of people who may be at risk of fragility fractures in all settings in which NHS care is received.
