Mais une émotion douloureuse peut-elle vraiment se « gérer » ? Est-elle comparable à un « problème » à résoudre ? Pour apaiser la souffrance, il faut arrêter de la voir comme un ennemi mais plutôt comme un colocataire que l’on « respecte » et avec lequel on cohabite. La thérapie d’acceptation et d’engagement (ou ACT) suit ce procédé et fait partie des récentes thérapies cognitives-comportementales. Ainsi, dans un strict respect des 6 processus de l’ACT, l’auteur : - fournit dans une première partie le cadre théorique et les 6 processus de l'ACT adaptés pour les enfants et les adolescents. Chaque étape est mise en pratique par des exercices. - propose dans une deuxième partie des exercices pour les enfants, adolescents et leurs parents car le succès de la thérapie repose, en outre, sur l’accompagnement des parents considérés ici comme des « co-thérapeutes ».

The diversity in living conditions has translated into diversity in patterns of health across the region. Inequalities in income, education, housing and employment affect population health, both directly (for example, good housing reduces risks associated with poor health) and indirectly through psychosocial factors (such as stress). From the life course perspective, individuals are affected by different sets of risks related to disease and illness; certain diseases and causes of health are more likely to affect young people, whereas the majority are associated with older ages. Investigating differences in health status within and between European countries provides the focus of this report. The relationship between living conditions, socioeconomic factors and health is discussed and analysed with the objective of stimulating a debate and policy action for creating a healthier and more equitable society. We aim to present an overview of key issues and not comprehensive literature review or exhaustive analysis of the topics involved.

Sent by the Social Science Research Council to study the youths of a so-called "primitive" culture, Margaret Mead would spend nine months attempting to ascertain if the problems of adolescences in western society were merely a function of youth or a result of cultural and social differences. "Coming of Age in Samoa" is her report of those findings, in which the author details various aspects of Samoan life including, education, social and household structure, and sexuality. The book drew great public interest when it was first published and also criticism from those who did not like the perceived message that the carefree sexuality of Samoan girls might be the reason for their lack of neuroses. "Coming of Age in Samoa" has also been criticized for the veracity of Mead's account, though current public opinion seems to fall on the side of her work being largely a factual one, if not one of great anthropological rigor. At the very least "Coming of Age in Samoa" remains an interesting historical account of tribal Samoan life during the first part of the 20th century. This edition is printed on premium acid-free paper.
