Download or read book The Evidence written by Carlene Rodgers and Elene Rodgers and published by Eliyah's Tidings Publications. This book was released on 2019-09-05 with total page 164 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Genesis starts off with, "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth:" (Genesis 1:1 ). This is the beginning of time. In Revelation 21:6 Jesus says, "It is done." This is the end of time. This book charts the time that God has given. As you study the Bible you will see that God gives us a detailed account of the years since Creation. This information reveals the age of the earth and looks forward to the time when God will make a "new heaven and a new earth:' It is an excellent reference to assist your Bible study in understanding the timing of significant biblical events, prophecies given and the timing of their fulfillment, and to see how history corresponds with the Bible. Time is of no human origin; it comes from God. God has given us time to display His awesome power, endearing love, and righteous character. In Isaiah 46:9,10, He says, "Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, 10 Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure." Declaring means to make known, to proclaim, or to publish by posting. God has made known "the end from the beginning" and He put it in writing in the Holy Bible as a written record to the world. This is another evidence of His divine authority because only God can do this! The purpose of time is not simply to count the years gone by, but to schedule an appointment of an anticipated event. Understanding time helps us know where we are in the stream of time in relation to that appointment. After tracing all the time that God has given, we should ask, "What is the divine appointment that God wants us to be aware of since He has provided all this information in the Bible for us to keep track of the time?" Acts 17:26 says that He "hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;" This biblical chart of time reveals The Evidence that God is the "Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end:" It should inspire us with faith to trust Him. As we recognize the Creator's hand in time we should humbly bow and worship Him in sincerity and truth.

Book Blockbusters and the Ancient World

Download or read book Blockbusters and the Ancient World written by Chris Davies and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2019-03-21 with total page 257 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Following the release of Ridley Scott's Gladiator in 2000 the ancient world epic has experienced a revival in studio and audience interest. Building on existing scholarship on the Cold War epics of the 1950s-60s, including Ben-Hur, Spartacus and The Robe, this original study explores the current cycle of ancient world epics in cinema within the social and political climate created by September 11th 2001. Examining films produced against the backdrop of the War on Terror and subsequent invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan, this book assesses the relationship between mainstream cinema and American society through depictions of the ancient world, conflict and faith. Davies explores how these films evoke depictions of the Second World War, the Vietnam War and the Western in portraying warfare in the ancient world, as well as discussing the influence of genre hybridisation, narration and reception theory. He questions the extent to which ancient world epics utilise allegory, analogy and allusion to parallel past and present in an industry often dictated by market forces. Featuring analysis of Alexander, Troy, 300, Centurion, The Eagle, The Passion of the Christ and more, this book offers new insight on the continued evolution of the ancient world epic in cinema.

Download or read book Drawn into Controversie written by Michael A. G. Haykin and published by Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht. This book was released on 2011-07-20 with total page 338 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: By their very nature, traditions are diverse. This is particularly the case with theological traditions, even including those cases where they have been named for a single individual (e.g. Augustinianism, Thomism, Lutheranism, and Calvinism). In the eras of the Reformation and of Reformed orthodoxy there was intense theological debate, leading to confessional identity and confessional boundaries; hence the Remonstrant controversy in the early seventeenth century. What the essays of this volume look at, however, are the debates that took place within the Reformed theological tradition, particularly within Puritan England. Some of the debates considered here threatened to rise to a confessional level whereas others were not so serious insofar as they did not press on confessional boundaries. The Puritan tradition surveyed in these essays looks at both major and minor intra-Reformed debates. Most of these debates analyzed have been passed over in the older scholarship in its quest to find the few true Calvinians to oppose to the so-called Calvinists. By contrast, none of the studies included in the present volume brands one side of a seventeenth-century debate as un-Calvinian or identifies an alteration of doctrinal perspective as a declension from Reformation-era purity. Calvin no longer appears as a norm, although he does appear, with other Reformers, as an antecedent of certain lines of argument. Lastly, the essays document the ongoing concern among Reformed theologians to further the Reformation cause. In this pursuit, Reformed theologians, as they did during the time of the Reformation theologians, often found themselves disagreeing on a number of theological doctrines.
