Book Guidebook for Evaluating Airport Parking Strategies and Supporting Technologies

Download or read book Guidebook for Evaluating Airport Parking Strategies and Supporting Technologies written by and published by Transportation Research Board. This book was released on 2009 with total page 171 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This guidebook presents various parking strategies and technologies that are employed, or have potential applications, at airports in the United States. This guidebook will assist airport operators in (1) determining their specific goals as they relate to public parking and their customer needs; (2) gaining an understanding of the parking strategies and technologies that correspond to their goals; and (3) evaluating benefits, costs, and implementation. With parking as the primary source of non-airline revenue at airports, and usually the customer's first and last experience with the airport, it is an important focus in an airport's overall strategic plan. ACRP Report 24 provides - in a single source - a buffet of parking strategies and technologies to complement and achieve airport operators' long-term goals and objectives. This guidebook will be useful to airport parking owners and operators, and their consultants, as they strive to better accommodate the needs of their customers, improve customer service, increase operational efficiency, and enhance net revenues.

Book Airports and Unmanned Aircraft Systems

Download or read book Airports and Unmanned Aircraft Systems written by Booz, Allen & Hamilton and published by . This book was released on 2020 with total page 87 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The introduction of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) has presented a wide range of new safety, economic, operational, regulatory, community, environmental, and infrastructure challenges to airports and the National Airspace System. These risks are further complicated by the dynamic and shifting nature of UAS technologies. The TRB Airport Cooperative Research Program's ACRP Research Report 212: Airports and Unmanned Aircraft Systems, Volume 1: Managing and Engaging Stakeholders on UAS in the Vicinity of Airports provides guidance for airport operators and managers to interact with UAS operations in the vicinity of airports. The demand for commercial UAS may increase significantly once advanced UAS operations--including beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) operations, operations over people, and operations of multiple UAS by one pilot--are allowed through broader regulatory frameworks. Understanding the nature of UAS operations, platforms, and applications is a topic of interest at most, if not all, airports. Currently, federal regulations allow broad commercial use of UAS in the United States for the first time. However, UAS operations directly over people are still prohibited unless the operator has received a waiver or other approval from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The activities of small UAS (those weighing less than 55 pounds) may take many forms, including multi-rotor, fixed wing, and hybrid vertical take-off and landing with fixed-wing forward flight vehicles. Some UAS operations near airports will require the ability to fly over populated areas and therefore will require waivers to allow operations over people. As a part of managing UAS operations, it will be important for airport operators to understand the regulatory requirements and framework as well as to have the ability to obtain waivers and exemptions. This guidebook describes the regulatory frameworks that currently exist so that airport managers and operators will be in a better position to interact and guide UAS users who fly in their vicinity. Other Resources: Volume 2: Incorporating UAS into Airport Infrastructure--Planning Guidebook provides planning, operational, and infrastructure guidance to safely integrate existing and anticipated UAS operations into an airport environment. Volume 3: Potential Use of UAS by Airport Operators provides airports with resources to appropriately integrate UAS missions as part of their standard operations. ACRP Web-Only Document 42: Toolkits and Resource Library for Airports and Unmanned Aircraft Systems.

Book Guidebook for Developing a Zero Or Low emissions Roadmap at Airports

Download or read book Guidebook for Developing a Zero Or Low emissions Roadmap at Airports written by Geoff Morrison and published by . This book was released on 2021 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Airports worldwide are setting aggressive zero- or low-emissions targets. To meet these targets, airports are deploying new strategies, adopting innovative financing mechanisms, and harnessing the collective influence of voluntary emissions and reporting programs. In tandem, new and affordable zero- or low-emissions technologies are rapidly becoming available at airports. The TRB Airport Cooperative Research Program's ACRP Research Report 220: Guidebook for Developing a Zero- or Low-Emissions Roadmap at Airports covers all steps of roadmap development, from start to finish, using conceptual diagrams, examples, best practices, and links to external tools and resources. While the main focus of this Guidebook is airport-controlled greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, it provides discussion about airport-influenced emissions from airlines, concessionaires, and passengers. Whereas other guidebooks and reference material provide airports with information on emissions mitigation and management (for example, the Federal Aviation Administration's Airport Carbon Emissions Reduction, ACRP Report 11: Guidebook on Preparing Airport Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventories, and the Airport Council International's Guidance Manual: Airport Greenhouse Gas Emissions Management), this Guidebook articulates steps for creating an airport-specific emissions roadmap.
