Book Rohan Bullkin and the Shadows A Story about ACEs and Hope

Download or read book Rohan Bullkin and the Shadows A Story about ACEs and Hope written by Juleus Ghunta and published by Cas. This book was released on 2021-11 with total page 48 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rohan Bullkin is haunted by sinister Shadows that fuel his fear of reading. He hates books so much that he often rips their pages. But when the Shadows become intolerable, Rohan accepts an offer of friendship from a special book. This marks the beginning of a remarkable journey during which he not only learns how to conquer Shadows but also develops a love of books and life. Rohan Bullkin and the Shadows highlights connections between adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), toxic stress and many children's academic weaknesses and disruptive behaviours. It shows how supportive environments and the ability to read well significantly improve children's odds of overcoming trauma and becoming successful. In addition to providing a medium for children and adults to explore their ACEs, this book aims to help others develop a deeper understanding of the symptoms of toxic stress and ways in which they can be allies to those who need support.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The authors adverse childhood experiences are an example of how society has mistreated children over many years, while pretending to be a sophisticated, first world country. The reality is very different. Children, and there are many thousands of them, have had their life chances completely destroyed by adults who abused their power and influence. The war, and it is a war, against the violation of children in our country and many others, has only just begun. It will be a long war. The ACEs movement is one of the battalions fighting for change. Graham Wilmer MBE - Director Lantern Project This is an open and unrestricted account of the impact on ACEs for not only children but adults. The bravery of the Author to place this in the public arena is not unrecognised. Having established the England North ACEs Network, it has been a pleasure to work with The Cumbria Resilience Project and ACEs Cumbria Forum and to support their efforts to become an ACEs aware region. The momentum of this movement in the North is testimony to those who are 'driving' the bus forward and believe that it doesn't have to be this way. This book is written to allow anyone to understand what ACEs are and why they are important for every single person no matter who you are. Dr Wendy Thorley PhD, M.Ed., B.A (Hons) Ed. R.G.N.

Book Teddy Suhren Ace of Aces

Download or read book Teddy Suhren Ace of Aces written by Teddy Shuren and published by Pen and Sword. This book was released on 2011-04-20 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Reinhard ‘Teddy’ Suhren fired more successful torpedo shots than any other man during the war, many before he even became a U-boat commander. He was also the U-boat service’s most irreverent and rebellious commander; his lack of a military bearing was a constant source of friction with higher authority. Valued for his good humour and ability to lead, his nickname was acquired because he marched like a teddy-bear. Despite his refusal to conform to the rigid thought-patterns of National Socialism, his operational successes protected him, and he found himself accepted in the highest circles of power in Germany. He was one of the lucky third of all U-boat crewmen who survived the war, largely because his abilities led to a senior land-based command. He was also one of the first to publish his reminiscences, his account being typically forthright – its German title, Nasses Eichenlaub, suggesting that although he was decorated with the Oak Leaves, he was always in hot water. He died in 1984 but interest in his career was revitalized by the discovery of photographs documenting one of his operations in U 564, published with great success in 2004 as U-Boat War Patrol by Lawrence Patterson.
