Download or read book Un demi si cle d acc l rateurs de particules written by Pierre Marin and published by . This book was released on 2009 with total page 159 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Les acc l rateurs l homme et l univers written by Phu Anh Phi Nghiem and published by EDP Sciences. This book was released on 2022-06-02T00:00:00+02:00 with total page 140 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book An Introduction to the Physics of Particle Accelerators

Download or read book An Introduction to the Physics of Particle Accelerators written by Mario Conte and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1991 with total page 268 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a concise and coherent introduction to the physics of particle accelerators. It is written for students at the graduate level in physics and provides the elements to tackle the main problems regarding cyclic particle accelerators. In particular, a thorough introduction is given on the topics of such machines. Phase focusing is also fully treated, together with fundamental topics like synchrotron radiation and linear and nonlinear resonances. A chapter is devoted to rf linear accelerators and rf structures. The chapter on space charge effects deals with tune-shifts and beam-beam interactions. The final chapter treats both electron and stochastic cooling, thus rounding up the treatment of phase-space shrinkage introduced in the chapter on synchrotron.

Book Quantum Mechanics High Energy Physics and Accelerators

Download or read book Quantum Mechanics High Energy Physics and Accelerators written by J. S. Bell and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1995 with total page 953 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The scientific career of John Stewart Bell was distinguished by its breadth and its quality. He made several very important contributions to scientific fields as diverse as accelerator physics, high energy physics and the foundations of quantum mechanics. This book contains a large part of J S Bell's publications, including those that are recognized as his most important achievements, as well as others that are for no good reason less well known. The selection was made by Mary Bell, Martinus Veltman and Kurt Gottfried, all of whom were involved with John Bell both personally and professionally throughout a large part of his life. An introductory chapter has been written to help place the selected papers in a historical context and to review their significance. This book comprises an impressive collection of outstanding scientific work of one of the greatest scientists of the recent past, and it will remain important and influential for a long time to come.

Book Handbook of Accelerator Physics and Engineering

Download or read book Handbook of Accelerator Physics and Engineering written by Alexander Wu Chao and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2013 with total page 849 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Edited by internationally recognized authorities in the field, this expanded and updated new edition of the bestselling Handbook, containing more than 100 new articles, is aimed at the design and operation of modern particle accelerators. It is intended as a vade mecum for professional engineers and physicists engaged in these subjects. With a collection of more than 2000 equations, 300 illustrations and 500 graphs and tables, here one will find, in addition to the common formulae of previous compilations, hard-to-find, specialized formulae, recipes and material data pooled from the lifetime experience of many of the world''s most able practitioners of the art and science of accelerators. The eight chapters include both theoretical and practical matters as well as an extensive glossary of accelerator types. Chapters on beam dynamics and electromagnetic and nuclear interactions deal with linear and nonlinear single particle and collective effects including spin motion, beam-environment, beam-beam, beam-electron, beam-ion and intrabeam interactions. The impedance concept and related calculations are dealt with at length as are the instabilities associated with the various interactions mentioned. A chapter on operational considerations includes discussions on the assessment and correction of orbit and optics errors, real-time feedbacks, generation of short photon pulses, bunch compression, tuning of normal and superconducting linacs, energy recovery linacs, free electron lasers, cooling, space-charge compensation, brightness of light sources, collider luminosity optimization and collision schemes. Chapters on mechanical and electrical considerations present material data and important aspects of component design including heat transfer and refrigeration. Hardware systems for particle sources, feedback systems, confinement and acceleration (both normal conducting and superconducting) receive detailed treatment in a subsystems chapter, beam measurement techniques and apparatus being treated therein as well. The closing chapter gives data and methods for radiation protection computations as well as much data on radiation damage to various materials and devices.A detailed name and subject index is provided together with reliable references to the literature where the most detailed information available on all subjects treated can be found.
