Download or read book Business Statistics written by Gopal Chaudhuri and published by Independently Published. This book was released on 2019-10-24 with total page 283 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book Business Statistics using R is grown out of my teaching experience over a decade at reputed institutes including Indian Institute Managements at Ahmedabd and Kozhikode and School of Management, Asian Institute of Technology at Bangkok. The quantitative techniques discussed in Business Statistics using R help the reader easily master the underlying concepts of fundamental Statistical Methods. The data analysis is performed with the open source R language that can be installed in the readers' computer without effort. The book, giving explicit details, is also suitable for self-study. In my book I have used R extensively and R is available free online. A systematic development of statistical procedures is done in the book with real-life cases in the form of examples---this will help the reader grasp the essentials of statistical tools in order to be successful in the future courses of MBA and advanced data analytic career in particular. This is an era of Data Science. In this field, a sound knowledge of basic statistical concepts coupled with appropriate statistical software like R is a must.A number of books on Business Statistics exist in the market; but they mostly fail to address the statistical depth a reader needs in order to apply the technique in a variety of different practical situations. The problem is aggravated while actually doing the data analysis with statistical software like Excel; we know how tedious it is to draw a histogram using Excel. One can do statistical analysis with SPSS which is very expensive at least in the Indian context. The R provides excellent graphics as we all know. The R programming has been woven into the fabric of my Business Statistics book. Step-by-step detailed solutions of the real-life international cases embodied in the form of Examples are given in the text while explaining statistical techniques. Keeping in mind the background of the reader, who are basically beginners in the field of Decision Sciences, every attempt is made to include materials based on which the reader would be ready for an advanced career in the related field. The most important feature of Business Statistics using R is that it has a lot of worked out real life data analysis examples integrated with R language. Even though the Excel software is not believed to be superior to other standard statistical packages like SPSS and MINITAB, I have take every care to use it extensively throughout the text to perform data analysis. The SPSS (which is very popular among practitioners) output analysis is also carried out simultaneously. There is practically no book dealing Business Statistics with the R software, at least in Indian context. Each topic is discussed with a case study in the form of example containing R output explained in detail. In the current age of data-driven decisions making by Managers, it is important to master the fundamental statistical tools with appropriate depth and easy-to-use data analysis statistical software like R.

Book Abstracts of Early East Texas Newspapers 1839 1856

Download or read book Abstracts of Early East Texas Newspapers 1839 1856 written by and published by . This book was released on 1994 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: By: Linda Cheves Nicklas, Pub. 1994, Reprinted 2017, 166 pages, Index, ISBN #0-89308-503-0. This new title of newspaper abstracts covers papers in Clarksville, Marshall, Nacogdoches, and San Augustine. Texas did not require the filing of death certificates until 1903 and hence for someone trying to locate the death of a family member for early to mid 19th century deaths. The author has attempted to locate all death notices found in these papers, as well as marriage notices which generally gave additional information not available elsewhere, such as parents' names, state of origin and full name of the parties. Also included is data of historical interest, such as the establishment of new towns and steamship travel. A number of EAST TEXAS counties have suffered devastating losses of records due to courthouse fires. In cases of "burned" counties, not only were marriages included, but so is other information ordinarily found in county records, such as probate notices.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is designed both for introductory courses in computer problem solving, at the freshman and sophomore college level, and for individual self study. An earlier version of the book has been used seven times for teaching large introductory classes at University of California San Diego (UCSD). This preface is intended for the instructor, or for anyone sophisticated enough in contemporary computing practice to be able to advise the prospective student. The amount of material presented has been completed by about 55 percent of all students taking the course, where UCSD schedules 10 weeks of classes in a quarter. We have taught the course using Keller's Personalized System of Instruction (PSI), though the organization of the book does not require that plan to be used. PSI methods allow slightly more material to be absorbed by the students than is the case with the traditional lecture/recitation presentation. PSI allows grading according to the number of chapter units completed. Virtually all students who pass the course at UCSD do complete the first ten essential chapters and the Exercises associated with them. For a conventional presentation under the semester system, the 15 chapters should present an appropriate amount of material. For a conventional course under the quarter system, one might not expect to complete more than the first 12 chapters except on an extra credit basis.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: After the 2004 election, the Republican Party held the White House, both houses of Congress, twenty-eight governorships, and a majority of state legislatures. One-party rule, it seemed, was here to stay. Herding Donkeys tells the improbable tale of the grassroots resurgence that transformed the Democratic Party from a lonely minority to a sizable majority. It chronicles the inside story of Howard Dean's visionary yet deeply controversial fifty-state strategy, charting his unpredictable journey from insurgent presidential candidate, to front-running flameout, to chairman and conscience of the Democratic Party in an unexpected third act. Ari Berman reveals how the Obama campaign built upon Dean's strategy when others ridiculed it, expanding the ranks of the party and ultimately laying the groundwork for Obama's historic electoral victory—but also sowing the seeds of dissent that would lead to legislative stalemate and intraparty strife. Revelatory and entertaining, in the vein of Timothy Crouse's The Boys on the Bus and Rick Perlstein's Nixonland, Herding Donkeys combines fresh reportage with a rich and colorful cast of characters. It captures the untold stories of the people and places that reshaped the electoral map, painting a vivid portrait of a shifting country while dissecting the possibility and peril of a new era in American politics.

Book Lincoln s Journalist

Download or read book Lincoln s Journalist written by Michael Burlingame and published by SIU Press. This book was released on 2006-08-09 with total page 428 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Michael Burlingame presents anonymous and pseudonymous newspaper articles written by Lincoln's assistant personal secretary, John Hay, between 1860 and 1864. In the White House, Hay became the ultimate insider, the man who had the president's ear. "Only an extremely small number of persons ever saw Abraham Lincoln both day and night in public as well as private settings from 1860 to 1864," notes Wayne C. Temple, chief deputy director, Illinois State Archives. "And only one of them had the literary flair of John Milton Hay." Burlingame takes great pains to establish authorship of the items reproduced here. He convincingly demonstrates that the essays and letters written for the Providence Journal, the Springfield Illinois State Journal, and the St. Louis Missouri Democrat under the pseudonym "Ecarte" are the work of Hay. And he finds much circumstantial and stylistic evidence that Hay wrote as "our special correspondent" for the Washington World and for the St. Louis Missouri Republican. Easily identifiable, Hay's style was "marked by long sentences, baroque syntactical architecture, immense vocabulary, verbal pyrotechnics, cocksure tone (combining acid contempt and extravagant praise), offbeat adverbs, and scornful adjectives."
