Book Absolute Gravity Measurements in the United States of America

Download or read book Absolute Gravity Measurements in the United States of America written by Iginio Marson and published by . This book was released on 1980 with total page 72 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The measurements of gravity acceleration described in the report were performed in 1980. The introductory part of the report illustrates the transportable absolute gravimeter and ancillary instrumentation used in measurements, and describes the measurement method applied; uncertainty and errors are analysed as well. Measurements of gravity acceleration made in Europe prior to the USA program are also briefly considered before a detailed account is given of the measurements made in the USA. Numerous tables are provided. Six stations were observed in the USA and approximately 100 measurements made per station. The results show an overall uncertainty in g measurements of the order of 10 microgal.

Book Absolute Gravity Measurements in the United States of America

Download or read book Absolute Gravity Measurements in the United States of America written by Iginio Marson and published by . This book was released on 1978 with total page 79 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The measurements of gravity acceleration described in the report were performed in 1977 within a grant program sponsored by the US Air Force. The numerous tables in the text and at the end of the report form an essential part of it. Six stations were observed in the USA and approximately 100 measurements made per station. The results show an overall uncertainty in g measurements.

Book Results from a U S Absolute Gravity Survey

Download or read book Results from a U S Absolute Gravity Survey written by M. A. Zumberge and published by . This book was released on 1982 with total page 18 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Using the recently completed JILA absolute gravity meter, we made a survey of twelve sites in the United States. Over a period of eight weeks, the instrument was driven a total distance of nearly 20,000 km to sites in California, New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, Maryland and Massachusetts. The time spent in carrying out a measurement at a single location was typically one day. We report the results of the measurements in this survey along with earlier measurements made with the instrument, discuss the measurement accuracy and compare our results with other measurements. Book Gravity Measurements and the Standards Laboratory

Download or read book Gravity Measurements and the Standards Laboratory written by Douglas Roy Tate and published by . This book was released on 1969 with total page 16 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The local value of the acceleration due to gravity is a fundamental datum for almost every standards laboratory as it, together with accurate standards of mass, is the basis for the standards involving force.Instruments used as standards in this area include precise deadweight piston gages, deadweight calibrators for force transducers, liquid manometers, and earth field accelerometer calibrators. The practical realization of the absolute ampere and the absolute volt require a knowledge of force. The paper presents the basic information about how gravity measurements are made and outlines procedures for obtaining a suitable value for a given location. It also gives a brief discussion of the background and meaning of the term 'standard gravity', and its application in the computation of forces in units of the pound-force and the kilogram-force.(Author).
