Book The Baha i Response to the Crisis of Our Time

Download or read book The Baha i Response to the Crisis of Our Time written by Joan Hernandez and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2016-06-16 with total page 60 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The times in which we live are characterized by two powerful processes: disintegration and integration. Each and every person has the possibility of contributing to the process of integration. Unfortunately, many remain spectators, either because they don't know what to do, or feel that due to the magnitude of the problems facing society, their efforts would have little effect. Bahá'u'lláh has revealed teachings that give us a clear vision of the future society characterized by unity, justice, and peace that we are called to construct. The Universal House of Justice gives concrete guidance on the most effective actions we can take at this moment, calling us to participate in a world-wide program of moral and spiritual education for different age groups - children, junior youth, youth and adults - offering materials and training for everyone interested in participating in this magnificent undertaking. Those who join the effort become part of a planetary network, receiving guidance and support in their efforts to contribute to a better world. The book integrates easily-understood explanations with relevant quotes from Shoghi Effendi and Messages from the Universal House of Justice.

Book Why Is the World in Such Turmoil

Download or read book Why Is the World in Such Turmoil written by Lucius Joseph and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2011-11-21 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One common notion expressed by most people is, “If God was really powerful and good, He would not allow so much evil and suffering to go on.” On the other hand, there are those who believe that, the victims of calamities are worse sinners than others hence the reason why they suffered. But according to the words of Jesus Christ, “I tell you, No; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.Regardless of what people may want to attribute to the world's increasing state of disaster, woes, crimes and calamities, the word of God reveals that there are three fundamental reasons for all these troubles, and they are correlated to each other. The word of the Lord says; “The earth mourns and fades away, the world languishes and fades away; the heavens languish together with the earth. The earth lies polluted under its inhabitants” (Isaiah 24:4-5).No one is immune from those events that are permeating the whole earth. The prophet Isaiah wrote; “Behold, the Lord is going to lay waste the earth and devastate it; He will ruin its face and scatter its inhabitants. It will be the same for priest as for people, for masters as for servants, for mistress as for maid, for seller as for buyer, for borrower as for lender, for debtor as for creditor. The earth will be completely laid waste and totally plundered. The Lord has spoken this word” (Isaiah 24:1-3).What is happening throughout the entire universe is as a result of three basic, fundamental reasons, and unless one is willing to present his/her body as living sacrifices, holy, and acceptable to God which is our spiritual act of worship, and not to be conformed to this world, but be willing to be transformed by the renewing of their minds, in order to prove what is that good and acceptable will of God, no sigh of relief will be imminent to them, for the world is doomed to destruction. It is therefore incumbent on all those who understands God's perspective of life, to get busy in doing what the Lord says, which is; “O Zion, you who bring good tidings, get up into the high mountain; O Jerusalem, you who bring good tidings, lift up your voice with strength, lift it up, be not afraid; say to the cities of Judah, “Behold your God” (Isaiah 40:9).Our transgressions and our sins are upon us, and we waste away because of them; how then can we live? But this is what the Lord says; “As I live, says the Lord God, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live; turn back, turn back from your evil ways; for why will you die, O house of Israel? The first reason why the earth and its inhabitants are in such a crisis it is because the laws of God are being transgressed. The irony of truth is every aspect of life is governed by a law or principle, and whether one is knowledgeable, or ignorant of these laws they automatically reap the benefits for obeying them, and unfortunately reap the consequences for violating them: Ignorance of the law is no excuse. Laws were designed by God and gave to man for man's good. It is God's way of life to man, and the way the universe is governed. The Lord said to the prophet Ezekiel, “I gave them my statutes and showed them my ordinances, by whose observance man shall live. Moreover I gave them My Sabbaths, as a sign between me and them, that they might know that I the Lord sanctify them. But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness; they did not walk in my statutes but rejected my ordinances, by whose observance man shall live; and My Sabbaths they greatly profaned” (Ezekiel 20:11-13). As long as man continues to violate the laws which God has ordained by which man should live, and by which the earth is governed, man and the earth will continue to be under a curse.

Book The Bah s of America

    Book Details:
  • Author : Michael McMullen
  • Publisher : NYU Press
  • Release : 2015-11-27
  • ISBN : 1479869058
  • Pages : 289 pages

Download or read book The Bah s of America written by Michael McMullen and published by NYU Press. This book was released on 2015-11-27 with total page 289 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Bahá’í Faith had its origins in nineteenth century Shi’ite Islam, but embraces Abraham, Krishna, Moses, Buddha, Jesus, and Muhammad—among others—as prophets, each seen as a divine messenger uniquely suited to the needs of his time. The Bahá’í community has spread to become the second most geographically widespread religion in the world. It has a 120 year history in the United States, where members have promoted their core belief that all people are created equal. American Bahá’ís have been remarkably successful in attracting a diverse membership. They instituted efforts to promote racial unity in the deep South decades before the modern civil rights movement, and despite lip service to fostering multi racial congregations among Christian churches, over half of American Bahá’í congregations today are multiracial, in comparison to just 5 to 7 percent of U.S. Christian churches. This level of diversity is unique among all religious groups in the United States. As the story of a relatively new religious movement, the history of the Bahá’ís in America in the 20th and early 21st centuries offers a case study of institutional maturation, showcasing the community’s efforts to weather conflict and achieve steady growth. While much scholarly attention has been paid to extremist religious movements, this book highlights a religious movement that promotes the idea of the unity of all religions. Mike McMullen traces the hard work of the Bahá’ís’ leadership and congregants to achieve their high level of diversity and manage to grow so successfully in America.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Why do spiritual beings--human souls--begin their lives in the physical world? According to well-known Baha'i author, scholar, and educator John Hatcher, the world is a classroom designed by God to instigate and nurture mental and spiritual growth. The Purpose of Physical Reality examines the components of this classroom to show how everyday experience leads to spiritual insight. Viewing life in this way, we can learn to appreciate the overall justice of God's plan and the subtle interplay between human free will and divine assistance in unleashing human potential. The idea of physical reality as a divine teaching device not only prepares us for further progress in the life beyond, it also provides practical advice about how to attain spiritual and intellectual understanding while we are living on earth.
