Comparisons of theoretical and computer solutions for a variety of test problems demonstrate close agreement. Instructions for use of the program are included. (Author).

Book Formulation of Stiffness Equation for a Three dimensional Isoparametric Element with Elastic plastic Material and Large Deformation

Download or read book Formulation of Stiffness Equation for a Three dimensional Isoparametric Element with Elastic plastic Material and Large Deformation written by and published by . This book was released on 1975 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The formulation of the stiffness equation for an 8 to 21 node isoparametric element with elastic-plastic material and large deformation is presented. The formulation has been implemented in a nonlinear finite element program for the analysis of three-dimensional continuums. To demonstrate the utility of the formulation, a thick-walled cylinder was analyzed and the results are compared favorably with a known solution. The element type presented can be applied not only to 3-D continuums, but also to plate or shell structures, for which degenerated isoparametric elements may be used. (auth).

Book Two and Three dimensional Isoparametric Finite Elements for Axisymmetric Micropolar Elasticity

Download or read book Two and Three dimensional Isoparametric Finite Elements for Axisymmetric Micropolar Elasticity written by Fuang-Yuan Huang and published by . This book was released on 1986 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Finite element analysis program for isotropic and orthotropic axisymmetric micropolar (Cosserat) elastic solids are developed in this thesis. Isoparametric elements of 8- and 20- node are used to solve general three-dimensional problems, arid both 4- and 8-node elements are used for two-dimensional cases. Three-dimensional finite element formulation for cylindrical coordinate system is derived. Corresponding Fortran programs are then developed. Patch tests are performed for two-dimensional cases to verify the applicability of the finite element method to non-rectangular geometries. Several two-dimensional and three- dimensional problems for micropolar elastic solids are solved to verify the formulations arid computer program.

Book The Finite Element Method for Three Dimensional Thermomechanical Applications

Download or read book The Finite Element Method for Three Dimensional Thermomechanical Applications written by Guido Dhondt and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2004-11-19 with total page 362 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Though many 'finite element' books exist, this book provides a unique focus on developing the method for three-dimensional, industrial problems. This is significant as many methods which work well for small applications fail for large scale problems, which generally: are not so well posed introduce stringent computer time conditions require robust solution techniques. Starting from sound continuum mechanics principles, derivation in this book focuses only on proven methods. Coverage of all different aspects of linear and nonlinear thermal mechanical problems in solids are described, thereby avoiding distracting the reader with extraneous solutions paths. Emphasis is put on consistent representation and includes the examination of topics which are not frequently found in other texts, such as cyclic symmetry, rigid body motion and nonlinear multiple point constraints. Advanced material formulations include anisotropic hyperelasticity, large strain multiplicative viscoplasticity and single crystal viscoplasticity. Finally, the methods described in the book are implemented in the finite element software CalculiX, which is freely available (www.calculix.de; the GNU General Public License applies). Suited to industry practitioners and academic researchers alike, The Finite Element Method for Three-Dimensional Thermomechanical Applications expertly bridges the gap between continuum mechanics and the finite element method.

Book Inversion of Isoparametric Mappings and Applications of Computer Graphics to Three Dimensional Finite Element Analyses

Download or read book Inversion of Isoparametric Mappings and Applications of Computer Graphics to Three Dimensional Finite Element Analyses written by Charles A. Hall and published by . This book was released on 1979 with total page 32 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Finite element analyses of two and three dimensional structures often require the use of curved isoparametric elements. The overall effectiveness of such analyses by large scale finite element computer programs is often handicapped by the costly and tedious job of verifying input data and the lack of a comprehensive graphical presentation of the output. This contract work involved mathematical research concerning various approaches to improving this pre- and post processing of finite element data utilizing interactive computer graphics. A key aspect of this work was the characterization of the existence of the inverses of isoparametric mappings, as well as the development of efficient algorithms for the numerical inversion of such mappings.
