Book Stability Theory of Differential Equations

Download or read book Stability Theory of Differential Equations written by Richard Bellman and published by Courier Corporation. This book was released on 2013-02-20 with total page 178 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Suitable for advanced undergraduates and graduate students, this was the first English-language text to offer detailed coverage of boundedness, stability, and asymptotic behavior of linear and nonlinear differential equations. It remains a classic guide, featuring material from original research papers, including the author's own studies. The linear equation with constant and almost-constant coefficients receives in-depth attention that includes aspects of matrix theory. No previous acquaintance with the theory is necessary, since author Richard Bellman derives the results in matrix theory from the beginning. In regard to the stability of nonlinear systems, results of the linear theory are used to drive the results of Poincaré and Liapounoff. Professor Bellman then surveys important results concerning the boundedness, stability, and asymptotic behavior of second-order linear differential equations. The final chapters explore significant nonlinear differential equations whose solutions may be completely described in terms of asymptotic behavior. Only real solutions of real equations are considered, and the treatment emphasizes the behavior of these solutions as the independent variable increases without limit.

Book Differential and Integral Inequalities Theory and Applications

Download or read book Differential and Integral Inequalities Theory and Applications written by V. Lakshmikantham and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 1969 with total page 405 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume constitutes the first part of a monograph on theory and applications of differential and integral inequalities. 'The entire work, as a whole, is intended to be a research monograph, a guide to the literature, and a textbook for advanced courses. The unifying theme of this treatment is a systematic development of the theory and applicationsof differential inequalities as well as Volterra integral inequalities. The main tools for applications are the norm and the Lyapunov functions. Familiarity with real and complex analysis, elements of general topology and functional analysis, and differential and integral equations is assumed.

Book Asymptotic Behavior and Stability Problems in Ordinary Differential Equations

Download or read book Asymptotic Behavior and Stability Problems in Ordinary Differential Equations written by Lamberto Cesari and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 278 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This second edition, which has become necessary within so short a time, presents no major changes. However new results in the line of work of the author and of J. K. HaIe have made it advisable to rewrite seetion (8.5). Also, some references to most recent work have been added. LAMBERTO CESARI University of Michigan June 1962 Ann Arbor Preface to the First Edition In the last few decades the theory of ordinary differential equations has grown rapidly under the action of forces which have been working both from within and without: from within, as a development and deepen ing of the concepts and of the topological and analytical methods brought about by LYAPUNOV, POINCARE, BENDIXSON, and a few others at the turn of the century; from without, in the wake of the technological development, particularly in communications, servomechanisms, auto matie controls, and electronics. The early research of the authors just mentioned lay in challenging problems of astronomy, but the line of thought thus produced found the most impressive applications in the new fields.

Book Theory of Integro Differential Equations

Download or read book Theory of Integro Differential Equations written by V. Lakshmikantham and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1995-03-15 with total page 376 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This unique monograph investigates the theory and applications of Volterra integro-differential equations. Whilst covering the basic theory behind these equations it also studies their qualitative properties and discusses a large number of applications. This comprehensive work presents a unified framework to investigate the fundamental existence of theory, treats stability theory in terms of Lyapunov functions and functionals, develops the theory of integro-differential equations with impulse effects, and deals with linear evolution equations in abstract spaces. Various applications of integro-differential equations, such as population dynamics, nuclear reactors, viscoelasticity, wave propagation and engineering systems, are discussed, making this book indispensable for mathematicians and engineers alike.

Book Stability and Control of Nonlinear Time varying Systems

Download or read book Stability and Control of Nonlinear Time varying Systems written by Shuli Guo and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-04-12 with total page 268 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents special systems derived from industrial models, including the complex saturation nonlinear functions and the delay nonlinear functions. It also presents typical methods, such as the classical Liapunov and Integral Inequalities methods. Providing constructive qualitative and stability conditions for linear systems with saturated inputs in both global and local contexts, it offers practitioners more concise model systems for modern saturation nonlinear techniques, which have the potential for future applications. This book is a valuable guide for researchers and graduate students in the fields of mathematics, control, and engineering.
