Book Single Carrier FDMA

Download or read book Single Carrier FDMA written by Hyung G. Myung and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2008-11-20 with total page 198 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Single Carrier Frequency Division Multiple Access (SC-FDMA) is a novel method of radio transmission under consideration for deployment in future cellular systems; specifically, in 3rd Generation Partnership Project Long Term Evolution (3GPP LTE) systems. SC-FDMA has drawn great attention from the communications industry as an attractive alternative to Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA). Introduction to Single Carrier FDMA places SC-FDMA in the wider context of wireless communications, providing the reader with an in-depth tutorial on SC-FDMA technology. The book introduces the reader to this new multiple access technique that utilizes single carrier modulation along with orthogonal frequency multiplexing and frequency domain equalization, plus its applications in communications settings. It considers the similarities with and differences from orthogonal frequency division modulation, multiplexing, and multiple access used extensively in cellular, broadcasting, and digital subscriber loop applications. Particular reference is made to the peak power characteristics of an SC-FDMA signal as an added advantage over OFDMA. Provides an extensive overview of the principles of SC-FDMA and its relation to other transmission techniques. Explains how the details of a specific implementation influence the tradeoffs among various figures of merit. Describes in detail the configuration of the SC-FDMA uplink transmission scheme published by 3GPP. Features link level simulation of an uplink SC-FDMA system using MATLAB. This is an essential text for industry engineers who are researching and developing 3GPP LTE systems. It is suitable for engineers designing wireless network equipment, handsets, data cards, modules, chipsets, and test equipment as well as those involved in designing LTE infrastructure. It would also be of interest to academics, graduate students, and industry researchers involved in advanced wireless communications, as well as business analysts who follow the cellular market.

Book A detailed Study of 4G in Wireless Communication Looking insight in issues in OFDM

Download or read book A detailed Study of 4G in Wireless Communication Looking insight in issues in OFDM written by Neelam Dewangan and published by Anchor Academic Publishing (aap_verlag). This book was released on 2014-02-01 with total page 92 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As a promising technique, OFDM has been widely used in emerging broadband communication systems, such as digital audio broadcasting (DAB), high-definition television (HDTV), and wireless local area network (IEEE 802.11a and HIPERLAN/2). However, as the OFDM signals are the sum of signals with random amplitude and phase, they are likely to have large PAPR that require a linear high-power- amplifier (HPA) with an extremely high dynamic range which is expensive and inefficient. Furthermore, any amplifier nonlinearity causes intermodulation products resulting in unwanted out-of-band power. A number of approaches have been proposed to deal with the PAPR problem, including amongst others, clipping, clipping-and-filtering (CF), coding, companding transform, active constellation extension (ACE), selected mapping (SLM), and partial transmit sequence (PTS). This book proposes an improvement in the selected mapping technique. The resulting scheme can also be applied to the multiple transmitting antenna cases. Further, it compares the simulation results to the existing techniques namely exponential companding transform, repeated clipping and filtering, and adaptive active constellation extension.

Download or read book Access Networks written by Xiao Jun Hei and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-02-17 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With the rapid growth of the Internet as well as the increasing demand for broadband services, access networks have been receiving growing investments in recent years. This has led to a massive network deployment with the goal of eliminating the ba- width bottleneck between end-users and the network core. Today many diverse te- nologies are being used to provide broadband access to end users. The architecture and performance of the access segment (local loop, wired and wireless access n- works, and even home networks) are getting increasing attention for ensuring quality of service of diverse broadband applications. Moreover, most access lines will no longer terminate on a single device, thus leading to the necessity of having a home network designed for applications that transcend simple Internet access sharing among multiple personal computers and enable multimedia support. Therefore, the access network and its home portion have become a hot investment pool from both a fin- cial as well as a research perspective. The aim of the annual International Conference on Access Networks (AccessNets) is to provide a forum that brings together scientists and researchers from academia as well as managers and engineers from the industry and government organizations to meet and exchange ideas and recent work on all aspects of access networks and how they integrate with their in-home counterparts. After Athens in 2006, Ottawa in 2007, and Las Vegas in 2008, this year AccessNets moved to Asia for the first time.

Book Multi point Cooperative Communication Systems Theory and Applications

Download or read book Multi point Cooperative Communication Systems Theory and Applications written by Ming Ding and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-15 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Multi-point Cooperative Communication Systems: Theory and Applications mainly discusses multi-point cooperative communication technologies which are used to overcome the long-standing problem of limited transmission rate caused by the inter-point interference. Instead of combating the interference, recent progress in both academia and industrial standardizations has evolved to adopt the philosophy of “exploiting” the interference to improve the transmission rate by cooperating among multiple points. This book addresses the multi-point cooperative communication system systematically giving the readers a clear picture of the technology map and where the discussed schemes may fit. This book includes not only the theories of the paradigm-shifting multi-point cooperative communication, but also the designs of sub-optimal cooperative communication schemes for practical systems. Ming Ding is a senior researcher at Sharp Laboratories of China; Hanwen Luo is a professor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
