Book Efficacy of Separate and Premix Formulation of Herbicides on Weeds

Download or read book Efficacy of Separate and Premix Formulation of Herbicides on Weeds written by Rakesh Kumar and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2013 with total page 72 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) is second most important food grain crop of India and is associated with the food security of the country.India needs more food around 105 million tonnes for feeding the increasing population by 2020 A.D. and this demand has to be met primarily from wheat crop as this is the only assured food crop which production and productivity could be sustained. Further wheat area is decreasing every year and there is very little scope for expansion of area in the future. So there is urgent need to vertical increase in yield per hectare to ensure household food security.Herbicide rotation and use of herbicide mixture are two major strategies to prevent the selection of resistant biotypes of a weed species. Herbicides with different mode of action when mixed together, bind to different target site in weeds and prevent the probability of target site resistance in susceptible species. Today, most of the commercially available herbicides are mixture of grassy and non-grassy herbicides and have efficiency against these types of weeds only. Therefore, targeted weed control mixtures are required to prevent resistance in one or more weed species.

Book Weed and Crop Resistance to Herbicides

Download or read book Weed and Crop Resistance to Herbicides written by Rafael de Prado and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1997-05-31 with total page 366 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In recent decades, repeated use of herbicides in the same field has imposed selection for resistance in species that were formerly susceptible. On the other hand, considerable research in the private and public sectors has been directed towards introducing herbicide tolerance into susceptible crop species. The evolution of herbicide resistance, understanding its mechanisms, characterisation of resistant weed biotypes, development of herbicide-tolerant crops and management of resistant weeds are described throughout the 36 chapters of this book. It has been written by leading researchers based on the contributions made at the International Symposium on Weed and Crop Resistance to Herbicides held at Córdoba, Spain. This book will be a good reference source for research scientists and advanced students.

Book Herbicides

Download or read book Herbicides written by Andrew Price and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2015-12-02 with total page 346 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Herbicides are one of the most widely used groups of pesticides worldwide for controlling weedy species in agricultural and non-crop settings. Due to the extensive use of herbicides and their value in weed management, herbicide research remains crucial for ensuring continued effective use of herbicides while minimizing detrimental effects to ecosystems. Presently, a wide range of research continues to focus on the physiology of herbicide action, the environmental impact of herbicides, and safety. The authors of Herbicides, Physiology of Action, and Safety cover multiple topics concerning current valuable herbicide research.

Book Save and Grow in practice maize rice wheat

Download or read book Save and Grow in practice maize rice wheat written by Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and published by Food & Agriculture Org.. This book was released on 2018-06-21 with total page 124 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: FAO’s best-selling 2011 publication, Save and Grow, proposed a new paradigm of agriculture, one that is both highly productive and environmentally sustainable. This new book looks at the application of “Save and Grow” practices and technologies to production of the world’s key food security crops – maize, rice and wheat. With examples drawn from developing countries worldwide, it shows how eco-friendly farming systems are helping smallholder producers to boost cereal yields, improve their incomes and livelihoods, conserve natural resources, reduce negative impacts on the environment, and build resilience to climate change. The book will be a valuable reference for policymakers and development practitioners guiding the transition to sustainable food and agriculture.
