Book A Study of Job Satisfaction of Air Force Civilian Employees

Download or read book A Study of Job Satisfaction of Air Force Civilian Employees written by Phillip A. Branson and published by . This book was released on 1976 with total page 117 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study analyzes the determinants of job satisfaction for United States Air Force civilian employees as reported by 16,751 respondents to a survey conducted by the Air Force Management Improvement Group (AFMIG) in the summer of 1975. The primary technique used is the Monitored Automatic Interaction Detection Multivariate (MAID-M) program. MAID-M is a computerized program which selects and builds up the smallest number of predictors which can explain the largest proportion of variance of the criterion variable. Analyses are made of the relationships between three categories of predictor variables and job satisfaction. The three categories of predictor variables are demographic characteristics, Air Force Quality of Life indicators and job related factors. The most important predictor variables found in each category are then combined and analyzed as predictors of civilian employee job satisfaction. The primary conclusion from the analysis is that the major determinants of job satisfaction for Air Force civilian employees are job related factors. The most significant factors found were as follows: job challenge, job freedom, satisfaction with personal growth; and job preparation for greater responsibility. (Author).

Book A study of the job satisfaction of professional Air Force social work officers

Download or read book A study of the job satisfaction of professional Air Force social work officers written by Daniel William Jablonski and published by . This book was released on 1984 with total page 510 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The job satisfaction levels of 149 Air Force Social Work Officers were studied by using the Professional Satisfaction Inventory originally developed by Jayaratne and Chess (1982) to study the job satisfaction and job stress of a sample of members of the National Association of Social Workers. The social work officers were found to be generally satisfied with their job roles in the Air Force. Hypotheses dealing with the relationships between professional isolation, organizational size, and marital status and job satisfaction were not confirmed and the null hypotheses were not rejected. Hypotheses dealing with relationships between the geographical location of the assignment, role conflict, gender, and military rank and job satisfaction were confirmed and the null hypotheses rejected. Significant differences were found between the job satisfaction scores of male and female social work officers with the males reporting higher satisfaction scores. Male social work officers also had higher scores on job challenge than did their female counterparts. Regression analysis revealed that job challenge, job comfort, and the package of financial rewards were significant predictors of overall job satisfaction for this sample.

Book An Investigation of the Effects of Pay Inequity Organizational Commitment and Job Satisfaction on Career Intent

Download or read book An Investigation of the Effects of Pay Inequity Organizational Commitment and Job Satisfaction on Career Intent written by James D. Baughman and published by . This book was released on 1982 with total page 103 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Retention of United States Air Force (USAF) middle managers has been identified as a problem. One solution of this problem currently under consideration is to increase military members' monetary compensation. This thesis developed the concept of pay inequity between military and civilian monetary compensation and investigated how pay inequity combined with job satisfaction and organizational commitment to predict career intent. In order to gather data for this investigation, a survey was administered to active duty USAF personnel at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, during the summer of 1982. Results indicated that pay inequity and job satisfaction did not contribute to career intent in the presence of organizational commitment. However, organizational commitment and five other factors did contribute to career intent. The other factors found to contribute to career intent were time in service, future career mobility, sex, the perceived opportunity for a civilian job which offered more enjoyment than the USAF job, and age. Limitations of these results are discussed. Recommendations for further research and use of these results are presented. (Author).

Book Job Satisfaction and Civilian Auditor Turnover Within the Air Force Audit Agency

Download or read book Job Satisfaction and Civilian Auditor Turnover Within the Air Force Audit Agency written by George E. Hanby and published by . This book was released on 1981 with total page 231 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This research uses a conceptual model as the medium through which elements of job satisfaction are related to turnover. A survey questionnaire was developed for this study and administered to all AFAA civilian auditors. Responses to the questions were analyzed using factor analysis, multiple linear regression, and comparative analyses. The result of these analyses was a synthesized model that identifies seven significant determinants of job satisfaction for civilian auditors, the variable 'opportunity' intervening between satisfaction and turnover, and two demographic variables that significantly correlate to the propensity to leave the organization. A regression equation is presented which indicates that Audit Agency management could most significantly influence job satisfaction through psychological needs of employees, promotion opportunities, and characteristics of supervisors. Comparative analyses of the components of psychological needs suggests that in the categories termed 'esteem need' and 'security need' AFAA civilian auditors have relatively higher need deficiency scores that their counterparts in similar job frameworks. Observed motivating potential scores indicate that job enrichment could meet with favorable results.

Book Job Attitudes of Pacific Air Force Personnel

Download or read book Job Attitudes of Pacific Air Force Personnel written by Joseph C. Menendez and published by . This book was released on 1986 with total page 78 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The study uses statistical analyses of data collected by the Leadership and Management Development Center (LMDC) to compare job attitudes of personnel assigned to the Pacific Air Force (PACAF), with those of USAF personnel assigned to other commands and theaters. The data base was arranged according to two major categories, PACAF and other USAF personnel. These were then organized into three personnel categories: officers, enlisted, and civilian personnel. The comparison of these subcategories shows that job attitudes for PACAF personnel differed significantly from other USAF personnel in 15 of 21 measured attitudinal factors. The study finds PACAF personnel generally show greater job satisfaction than USAF personnel assigned elsewhere.

Book The Effects of Job Satisfaction on Air Force Enlistee Retention

Download or read book The Effects of Job Satisfaction on Air Force Enlistee Retention written by Kenn Finstuen and published by . This book was released on 1981 with total page 10 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this research was to assess the concurrent and predictive validity of occupational attitudes, as measured by the Air Force Occupational Attitude Inventory (OAI), in relation to global job satisfaction, reenlistment intent, and actual reenlistment behavior of first-term enlisted airmen. The OAI was administered to two samples of airmen consisting of 1,217 personnel in 1973 and 4,784 personnel in 1975. When considered as a set, the OAI items were found to bear a strong relationship to global job satisfaction, a somewhat lesser relationship to reenlistment behavior. These relationships maintained their significance when the baseline effects of 53 biographical and job-related variables were held constant in regression analyses. Findings indicated that global job satisfaction was associated with the following: job challenge, the use of airman abilities, and feelings of accomplishment. Reenlistment intent and actual reenlistment were most highly associated with satisfaction with pay and benefits as compared to civilian jobs, the consideration the Air Force gave enlistees, removal of irritants, and contributions to the national defense. Cross-validation of the 1973 and 1975 equations revealed that these relationships were stable through time.

Book Factor analytic Reanalysis of Studies of Job Satisfaction and Morale

Download or read book Factor analytic Reanalysis of Studies of Job Satisfaction and Morale written by Edward E. Cureton and published by . This book was released on 1960 with total page 58 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is one of four papers reporting development of scales for measuring morale among Air Force personnel. Data from published reports of six previously developed scales were reanalyzed and the results compared with those for the scales developed in this project. Factor analyses show nearly all the scales with high loadings on the first centroid factor, indicating a large general factor, termed morale or general attitude tow the organization. The one consistent separate factor was Supervision. Variation of other factors from study to study is attributed in part to differences in attitude structuring among the various samples of workers, but in larger part to differences in the content and organization of the particular scales used. The report includes a discussion of special problems in factoring small matrices.
