Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dont let the title mislead. This book is about surfing and the people who lived the surfing experience in Australia in the 1970s and, through flashbacks, to as early as the 1950s. The title refers to the dilemma of the lead character, Alexander Scott. He is trapped by family circumstances in a place that can never satisfy his needs. He loses his father at a young age and is brought unwillingly out of a very sheltered upbringing. Though his stepfather cares for him, he is unable to provide the father figure Alex needs. Surfing provides the escape, but it also puts him in conflict with his family. When his mother passes away, his stepfather remarries, and Alex is left with two stepparents and a family to whom he cannot relate emotionally. His stepsister provides a partial bridge, but in reality, they are worlds apart. She is a product of the wealthy Sydney society while Alex prefers his surfing companions. When Alex meets Julianne Cameron, there is an instant rapport. She becomes the love of his life, and he sees a way to find the emotional peace he seeks. But Julianne is cruelly taken from him in an accident that leaves Alex with injuries from which he can never recover.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Embedded controller electronics are at the heart of virtually all modern electronic devices today with a market of more than $86 billion per year and growing. To serve the needs of designers creating products for this huge market, this practical book covers topics crucial for modern electronics design. Author Jerry Twomey examines the methods necessary to help you create a trouble-free integrated system for your product, with an emphasis on hardware design. You'll explore topics from the perspective of real-world applications, including discussions about non-ideal components, noise, and methods for avoiding problematic scenarios. Topics include: Ideal versus actual connections, components, digital, signals Architecting an embedded system Digital interface selection by application, speed, distance Multivoltage power supplies High frequency power integrity Battery and charging systems EMI reduction and ESD protection Driving and sensing peripherals Digital feedback control Optimization of power consumption and cost Specialty systems: medical, industrial, aerospace PCB design including manufacturability, yield, and low noise This book guides you through all of the techniques listed, which are required for a reliable integrated system. Through extensive illustrations and minimal equations, anyone with an interest in electronics will quickly grasp the ideas discussed.

Book Dynamic Simulations of Multibody Systems

Book Brain Computations and Connectivity

Download or read book Brain Computations and Connectivity written by Edmund T. Rolls and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2023-06-30 with total page 1174 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is an open access title available under the terms of a CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 International licence. It is free to read on the Oxford Academic platform and offered as a free PDF download from OUP and selected open access locations. Brain Computations and Connectivity is about how the brain works. In order to understand this, it is essential to know what is computed by different brain systems; and how the computations are performed. The aim of this book is to elucidate what is computed in different brain systems; and to describe current biologically plausible computational approaches and models of how each of these brain systems computes. Understanding the brain in this way has enormous potential for understanding ourselves better in health and in disease. Potential applications of this understanding are to the treatment of the brain in disease; and to artificial intelligence which will benefit from knowledge of how the brain performs many of its extraordinarily impressive functions. This book is pioneering in taking this approach to brain function: to consider what is computed by many of our brain systems; and how it is computed, and updates by much new evidence including the connectivity of the human brain the earlier book: Rolls (2021) Brain Computations: What and How, Oxford University Press. Brain Computations and Connectivity will be of interest to all scientists interested in brain function and how the brain works, whether they are from neuroscience, or from medical sciences including neurology and psychiatry, or from the area of computational science including machine learning and artificial intelligence, or from areas such as theoretical physics.

Book Trading Between the Lines

Download or read book Trading Between the Lines written by Elaine Knuth and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2011-03-15 with total page 243 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Insights into a pattern-based method of trading that can increase the likelihood of profitable outcomes While most books on chart patterns, or pattern recognition, offer detailed discussion and analysis of one type of pattern, the fact is that a single pattern may not be very helpful for trading, since it often does not give a complete picture of the market. What sets Trading Between the Lines apart from other books in this area is author Elaine Knuth's identification of sets of patterns that give a complete analysis of the market. In it, she identifies more complex chart patterns, often several patterns combined over multiple time frames, and skillfully examines these sets of patterns called "constellations" in relation to one another. These constellations turn sets of individual patterns into a more manageable set of patterns, where the relationship between them can lead to tactical trading opportunities. Shows how to apply complex patterns to specific trades and identify opportunities as well entry and exit points Markets covered include commodities, equities, and indexes Presents an effective trading approach based on real market cycles-as opposed to computer simulations-that are found in active markets Moving beyond the simple identification of basic patterns to identifying pattern constellations, this reliable resource will give you a better view of what is really going on in the market and help you profit from the opportunities you uncover.
