Book A Statistical Description of Electrical Transport in Disordered System

Download or read book A Statistical Description of Electrical Transport in Disordered System written by Debnarayan Jana and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2011-07 with total page 420 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the last few years, there has been extensive research work in the conduction mechanisms in various disordered systems. This book attempts to provide statistical descriptions of the conduction processes in various amorphous systems which are intrinsically characterized by the presence of randomness. This brings out automatically the scaling features existing among the experimentally observed conduction data. Besides, the scaling plot also helps one to identify any common feature between seemingly different systems. The first part of the book discusses the relevant theoretical background related to the conduction processes in disordered systems. The second part concerns about the analysis of the experimental non-linear conduction in three different types of disordered systems. Depending on frequency or temperature, the electrical conduction in these systems may change from being linear to nonlinear when subjected to sufficiently large bias. This book is suitable for Graduate Students, Condensed Matter Researchers and Material Scientists. We have included few sets of problems for the graduate students including some basic problems in many body physics and condensed matter physics

Book Statistical Mechanics and Applications in Condensed Matter

Download or read book Statistical Mechanics and Applications in Condensed Matter written by Carlo Di Castro and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2015-08-27 with total page 549 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This innovative and modular textbook combines classical topics in thermodynamics, statistical mechanics and many-body theory with the latest developments in condensed matter physics research. Written by internationally renowned experts and logically structured to cater for undergraduate and postgraduate students and researchers, it covers the underlying theoretical principles and includes numerous problems and worked examples to put this knowledge into practice. Three main streams provide a framework for the book; beginning with thermodynamics and classical statistical mechanics, including mean field approximation, fluctuations and the renormalization group approach to critical phenomena. The authors then examine quantum statistical mechanics, covering key topics such as normal Fermi and Luttinger liquids, superfluidity and superconductivity. Finally, they explore classical and quantum kinetics, Anderson localization and quantum interference, and disordered Fermi liquids. Unique in providing a bridge between thermodynamics and advanced topics in condensed matter, this textbook is an invaluable resource to all students of physics.

Book Statistical Mechanics And The Physics Of Many particle Model Systems

Download or read book Statistical Mechanics And The Physics Of Many particle Model Systems written by Alexander Leonidovich Kuzemsky and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2017-02-24 with total page 1259 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book is devoted to the study of the correlation effects in many-particle systems. It presents the advanced methods of quantum statistical mechanics (equilibrium and nonequilibrium), and shows their effectiveness and operational ability in applications to problems of quantum solid-state theory, quantum theory of magnetism and the kinetic theory. The book includes description of the fundamental concepts and techniques of analysis following the approach of N N Bogoliubov's school, including recent developments. It provides an overview that introduces the main notions of quantum many-particle physics with the emphasis on concepts and models. This book combines the features of textbook and research monograph. For many topics the aim is to start from the beginning and to guide the reader to the threshold of advanced researches. Many chapters include also additional information and discuss many complex research areas which are not often discussed in other places. The book is useful for established researchers to organize and present the advanced material disseminated in the literature. The book contains also an extensive bibliography. The book serves undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate students, as well as researchers who have had prior experience with the subject matter at a more elementary level or have used other many-particle techniques.

Book Electrical Transport in Nanoscale Systems

Download or read book Electrical Transport in Nanoscale Systems written by Massimiliano Di Ventra and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2008-08-07 with total page 477 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In recent years there has been a huge increase in the research and development of nanoscale science and technology. Central to the understanding of the properties of nanoscale structures is the modeling of electronic conduction through these systems. This graduate textbook provides an in-depth description of the transport phenomena relevant to systems of nanoscale dimensions. In this textbook the different theoretical approaches are critically discussed, with emphasis on their basic assumptions and approximations. The book also covers information content in the measurement of currents, the role of initial conditions in establishing a steady state, and the modern use of density-functional theory. Topics are introduced by simple physical arguments, with particular attention to the non-equilibrium statistical nature of electrical conduction, and followed by a detailed formal derivation. This textbook is ideal for graduate students in physics, chemistry, and electrical engineering.
