Download or read book Fabry Perot Interferometers written by G. Hernandez and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 1988-08-26 with total page 364 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book describes the Fabry-Perot interferometer and its variants as well as its use, optimisation and applications. The author begins with an historical perspective on the development of the instrument. Because of the quantitative uses of the device, the text tends to be mostly mathematical in its treatment. However, there is also much practical detail on the use and optimization of the Fabry-Perot interferometer and discussion of its classical uses (such as in metrology) and its contemporary applications (such as in lasers). In addition the book contains a comprehensive bibliography summarizing the extensive literature on the subject. This book will appeal both to high-resolution practitioners, such as spectroscopists, and to the laser community, since the Fabrv-Perot is not only an integral part of the laser but is also usea to characterize its optical and spectroscopic behaviour.

Download or read book Fiber Optic Sensors written by Eric Udd and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2011-10-11 with total page 514 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the technology has moved strongly into a number of different areas a textbook of this sort could be used by a wide variety of academic departments including physics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, aerospace engineering and bioengineering. To make the second edition as widely appealing as possible a series of significant upgrades were made. 1. The book is structured to support a variety of academic programs and it can also be used as a general reference by practicing engineers and scientists. 2. The introductory chapter has been revised to outline the new content of the second edition and provide a overview of the current status of fiber optic sensor technology. 3. A new, extensive chapter has been added covering fiber optic grating sensor technology and its application to aerospace, civil structures, oil and gas and power generating applications. 4. A second new chapter has been added on the emerging field of biomedical fiber optic sensors. This is one of the most rapidly growing fields of use for fiber optic sensors and with rising health costs and medical advances promises to be an important area for many years to come.

Book Regions of Recent Star Formation

Download or read book Regions of Recent Star Formation written by R.S. Bohn and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 490 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The symposium on "Neutral Clouds near HII Regions" was prompted by an obvious need to bring together workers specifically interested in the dynamical and photochemical effects in regions showing clear evidence of on-going star formation. This is currently an are a of considerable research activity with much new observational material over the wavelength range from X-ray to radio. Furthermore, the field isbeginning to mature. No longer is molecular spectroscopy concerned only with the search for new lines and with preliminary surveys. No longer are evolving HII regions modelled with the naive assumption of constant density. Similarly, ideas of successive star formation, "champagne" and "blister" models of HII regions, and refinements to abundance calculations are examples which show that theoretical initiative is keeping pace. We were both surprised and gratified by the number of contributed papers and the extent to which they addressed the subject matter. In the proceedings we have grouped these papers near the most appropriate of the four invited review papers. The subjects of these reviews are in the general areas of "Evolution of HII Regions", "Dynamical Interactions", "Chemistry in Active Regions" and "Infrared and Maser Sources". The symposium comprised 42 orally presented papers and 23 poster papers. AII but two are reproduced in this volume.

This book was released on 1995-06-29 with total page 486 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These proceedings sample new results derived from extended-objected IR observations and explore the capabilities of large-aperture, low-scattered-light instrumentation. The latest results from IR solar observations are described and a broad range of night-time problems from gravitational lens detection to planetary detection are explored in the context of what capabilities a large reflecting coronagraphic telescope could offer.
