Download or read book A Reference Hand Book for Nurses Classic Reprint written by Amanda Kathryn Beck and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-05-22 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from A Reference Hand-Book for Nurses As a probationer doing class and hospital work and as a graduate trained nurse I took notes of all the various formulae, directions, etc., that might at some time be useful to me in the pursuit of my duties. My class work was productive of 'many valuable items of information these and such other items as I gathered in the course of my hos pital work and while on private duty, and others which were the result of my own experience and observation, I kept in a memorandum book which soon became indispensable to me, and which I used until the leaves became worn and fell apart. I rewrote this memorandum book three times, and the task of its fourth rewriting made me wish that I had its contents in a form more easily preserved. The inspiration followed that my notes in book form would be of general use to most nurses and of some use to many physicians. This little vol ume is the result. This book was released on 2017-10-22 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from A Reference Handbook of Obstetric Nursing It is assumed by the author that the foundation of the nurse's general knowledge has been laid at the hospital bed-side. The author aims to present the details of his subject in simple form, so that they may be fixed permanently in the reader's mind. He recognizes that a text-book of this character should deal with the practical points which, when mastered, consti tute the nurse's stock of knowledge, rather than with medical considerations. Thanks are due Mrs. Mary E. Baker, former Superintendent of the Philadelphia Lying - in Charity, for suggestions in the presentation of the subject suitably for the undergraduate nurse; also Miss Helen M. Patterson for her advice in carry ing out the practical arrangement of the subject. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Dietetics for Nurses The third edition of this little book has received such warm support from the nurses and the training-schools that it has been a pleasure to add to it the changes needed to bring it up to date. The subject of diet, particularly in its relation to disease, has been receiving a great deal more careful attention of recent years, and a very considerable number of advances have been made, and it may confidently be expected that the next few years will see many more important facts added to our knowledge. We have made a large number of changes and additions; the article on diabetes has been largely rewritten and valuable diet lists added. The sections on infant feeding and nephritis have been augmented and information added on vitamins, the amino-acids, and many other subjects too numerous to mention. We have also added a number of new recipes. In a book of this size it is impossible to do more than give the facts which we believe a nurse should know. Those having to do with special dietetic nursing and also those who wish further information will find it in our larger book, Diet in Health and Disease. Download or read book State Registration for Nurses Classic Reprint written by Louie Croft Boyd and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2015-07-28 with total page 172 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from State Registration for Nurses In amending the laws some of the states neglected to rearrange the wording in different sections applicable to the same provision. This mistake will lead to a misunderstanding on the part of the nurse practitioner and may eventually bring unnecessary legal complica tions. Another Source of possible trouble, noticed in a few instances, is to make a positive statement and follow it up in the same section with a proviso that negatives it. This opportunity gives the author the privilege of extending her thanks to the secretaries of the different State Boards and State Associations for the copies of the laws furnished and the granting of such other information made necessary for the completion of this revision; also to those who kindly assisted in the sorting and compila tion of the material for publication, and in the proof-reading of the copy that came from time to time. Book Clinical Laboratory Technic for Nurses Classic Reprint

Download or read book Clinical Laboratory Technic for Nurses Classic Reprint written by Anna L. Gibson and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-11-25 with total page 236 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Clinical Laboratory Technic for Nurses This book owes its existence to the frequent request on the part of graduate nurses, whom it has been my pleasure to instruct in laboratory technic during the past three years, for a simple, comprehensive text-book, that the nurses might be able to grasp the principles of clinical laboratory technic. The book was originally compiled as a handbook for practical clinical laboratory work, since no single text book covered the work. The arrangement of the several chapters has worked itself out from a series of lessons which give simple and reliable methods. By these methods information may be obtained without unnecessary detail which requires a considerable knowledge of general chemistry and elab orate apparatus. Standard works on Bacteriology, Chemistry, Hema tology, Histology, and Parasitology have been consulted freely, and references are given at the end of each chapter from which more detailed information may be obtained. A great deal of the material and the drawings have been taken from my notebook. Grateful acknowledgment is made to Dr. Thomas Ordway, Dean of Albany Medical College, with whom I have had the privilege of working the past three years at the Huntington Hospital; to Dr. Ellis Kellert, Director of the Bender Laboratory, Albany, New York, who gave me valuable assistance the two years we were associated at the Huntington Hospital; and to Dr. Ernest Tyzzer, Assistant Professor of Pathology.
