Book Secret Teachings of Padmasambhava

Download or read book Secret Teachings of Padmasambhava written by Padmasambhava and published by Shambhala Publications. This book was released on 2010-10-12 with total page 160 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These Tibetan Buddhist teachings provide instructions for gathering and harnessing basic life energy. According to the tradition, a very effective way to do this is to arouse sexual energy and to direct the essence of that energy toward spiritual realization. According to the philosophy, sexual energy brings one naturally and effortlessly into flow with creativity and awareness in both mind and body—when used skillfully by committed practitioners with appropriate training. These ancient texts, attributed to the great Tibetan meditation master Padmasambhava (who practiced sexual union with the famous Tibetan queen Yeshe Tsogyal), offer traditional Buddhist teachings on the nature of the elements that all beings and our world are made of. They show us a practical view of how to use life-energy for personal development. The teachings are for experienced Buddhist practitioners.

Book Advice from the Lotus born

Download or read book Advice from the Lotus born written by Padma Sambhava and published by Rangjung Yeshe Publications. This book was released on 1994 with total page 188 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: " Don't mistake mere words to be the meaning of the teachings. Mingle the practice with your own being and attain liberation from samsara right now." Padmasambhava Padmasambhava is the primary master of Vajrayana, the teachings for our time. Out of his great compassion and wisdom, he instructed his main disciple Yeshe Tsogyal to conceal terma treasures to be revealed at the destined time for future practitioners. The profundity of this advice is meant to be personally applied by all individuals in all circumstances. It is a classic work, which contains valid truth for anyone who sincerely wants to follow a spiritual path. "The chief compiler of Padmasambhava's teachings was Yeshe Tsogyal, an emanation of a female Buddha. There may be some people who believe that only men can attain enlightenment, but her life is proof to the opposite. The awakened state of mind is neither male or female." Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche, from Introductory Teachings

Book Liberating Duality with Wisdom Display

Download or read book Liberating Duality with Wisdom Display written by Khenchen Palden Sherab Rinpoche and published by . This book was released on 2013 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Guru Padmasambhava is generally referred to as Guru Rinpoche, which means "precious master." Guru Rinpoche is a buddha, a fully awakened one. He did not become enlightened gradually, or start practicing the teachings of Buddha Shakyamuni and eventually gain enlightenment. Guru Rinpoche incarnated as a totally enlightened being. Through his form, primordial wisdom manifests in the world to benefit all sentient beings.Guru Rinpoche is a direct reincarnation of Buddha Shakyamuni. Buddha Shakyamuni said, "Eight years after my mahaparinirvana, a remarkable being with the name Padmasambhava will appear in the center of a lotus and reveal the highest teaching concerning the ultimate state of the true nature, bringing great benefit to all sentient beings." The Buddha also said that Padmasambhava would be an emanation of Buddha Amitabha and Avalokiteshvara, and referred to him as the "embodiment of all the buddhas of the three times."Buddha Shakyamuni mainly presented Hinayana and Sutra Mahayana teachings, while Guru Padmasambhava taught the Vajrayana. Both revealed the complete and perfect path to awakening so that individuals of all capacities would benefit. The absolute level of the Buddha's teaching is beyond conception. If it didn't go beyond the conceptual level, there would be no need to change our normal way of understanding things. To help us realize the primordial nature, Buddha Shakyamuni and Guru Padmasambhava repeatedly taught that we must transcend clinging to our ordinary dualistic conceptions, narrow attitudes, close mindedness, traditional rules, beliefs, and limitations. The enlightened activities of Guru Rinpoche's eight emanations are especially powerful and effective in destroying the solidity of our dualistic concepts and fixed opinions, and in awakening us to true freedom.

Book Remembering the Lotus Born

Download or read book Remembering the Lotus Born written by Daniel Hirshberg and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2016-10-25 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Remembering the Lotus-Born sheds light on the work of Nyangrel Nyima Öser (1124–92), one of the most influential yet least known figures in the history of Tibetan Buddhism. His pivotal work, the Copper Island, is the story of how the Indian tantric master Padmasambhava brought Buddhism to the region. This work elevated Padmasambhava to central importance in Tibetan history, and made treasure revelation and recognized reincarnations among the institutions that still define Tibetan culture. Tibetan and Western scholars alike have long assumed that the Copper Island Biography of Padmasambhava was originally presented as a treasure text (terma). However, investigating the sources of this narrative shows that rather than wholesale invention or simple revelation, the Copper Island was a product of the Tibetan assimilation and innovation of core Indian Buddhist literary traditions. These traditions were well known to Nyangrel, who is renowned as the first of the great Buddhist treasure revealers. Remembering the Lotus-Born takes an unprecedented look at Nyangrel’s work in the Copper Island, including his contributions to hagiography, reincarnation theory, treasure recovery, historiography. Drawing all these threads together, it concludes by comparing all the available versions of Nyangrel’s Padmasambhava narrative to challenge long-held assumptions and clarify its origin and transmission.

Download or read book White Lotus written by Jamgon Mipham and published by Shambhala Publications. This book was released on 2015-09-01 with total page 145 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The commentary translated in these pages is unusual and rare. But if the commentary is a rarity, its subject matter—the seven-line invocation of Padmasambhava—is one of the best-known prayers in the Tibetan Buddhist world. The overall significance of the Seven-Line Prayer is perhaps best appreciated in relation to a practice called guru-yoga, or "union with the nature of the guru." The purpose of guru-yoga is to purify and deepen the student's relationship with his or her teacher. It is introduced as one of the preliminary practices, and it remains crucial—in fact, its importance increases—as one progresses through the more advanced levels of the tantric path. The cultivation of devotion to the guru and the blending of one's mind with his or her enlightened mind is, in the words of Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, "the most vital and necessary of all practices and is in itself the surest and fastest way to reach the goal of enlightenment." Regarding the origin of this commentary, Mipham refers in the colophon to an event that triggered the abrupt appearance in his mind of the hidden meaning of the prayer. It is interesting to note that the language Mipham uses suggests that the commentary itself is not an ordinary composition but perhaps a treasure teaching, specifically a "mind-treasure" or gongter.

Vajrakilaya embodies the enlightened activity of all the buddhas that subjugates delusion and negativity in order to clear obstacles to spiritual practice. The essential purpose of Vajrakilaya practice is to discover the absolute vajra nature that will transform every duality hindrance into clear wisdom and compassion. In this text, the renowned scholars and meditation masters Khenchen Palden Sherab Rinpoche and Khenpo Tsewang Dongyal Rinpoche present the history of this lineage and the miraculous story of how Tsasum Lingpa revealed this terma teaching. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Seven Chapter Prayer is one of the most renowned practices in Tibetan Buddhism. It condenses and embodies all the teachings of Buddha Shakyamuni into a single practice. Since its discovery by the great terton Rigdzin Godemchen in the 14th century, it has been regarded as one of the most essential and powerful ways to practice on Guru Padmasambhava. This Seven Chapter Prayer practice is popular in the Nyingma school, as well as in the Kagyu and Sakya schools. Because of its immense popularity, many Seven Chapter Prayer lineages have developed. In particular, there is the Northern Treasures lineage in which the teaching itself originated. Later, the great scholar and siddha Karma Chagme condensed the teachings and practices of all the Seven Chapter Prayer lineages, and it is his commentary that we are following. All the great masters of Tibetan Buddhism have said that Guru Padmasambhava is the Buddha of the Degenerate Age. During this present time, he is the sole protector and refuge for all sentient beings. When we connect to Guru Padmasambhava, we're connecting to all enlightened beings throughout space and time. The Seven Chapter Prayer unites devotion, bodhichitta, and Dzogchen meditation in the form of a Guru Yoga practice on Guru Rinpoche. As the great master Karma Chagme said, absolute Guru Padmasambhava is the innate nature of mind, and the innate nature of the mind is the innate nature of everything. In order to fully realize this, we need to increase our devotion, joy, and bodhichitta. Then we visualize and supplicate Guru Padmasambhava with practices like the Seven Chapter Prayer, and we complete everything by resting in Dzogchen meditation and then dedicating the merit for our families, friends, and all living beings. This is the way to achieve enlightenment. It is how we can increase our inner beauty and let it shine to the world.Note: According to the Inner Tantras, as well as the great master Khedrub Karma Chagme, it is necessary and important that you first receive a Guru Padmasambhava empowerment from a qualified lama before you practice the Seven Chapter Prayer.

Download or read book Great Accomplishment written by Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche and published by North Atlantic Books. This book was released on 2013 with total page 257 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Vajrayana system of Tibetan Buddhism has many techniques, few difficulties and is meant for people of higher capabilities. Because each of us possesses the enlightened essence, when many people participate in a great accomplishment practice, then many enlightened essences are gathered together in one place. Hence, practice will be more effective. If we have recognized and realized our enlightened essence, then circumstances will be perfect. Even if we have not, if we participate in the practice and stay within the environment, there will be great benefit. The Vajrayana system has many techniques and skillful means for clearing away the impurities that prevent us from fully realizing our buddha nature. If we weren't already endowed with this pure gold, the buddha nature, but instead possessed mere brass, we could polish and clean as much as possible, but the brass would never turn into gold. Nevertheless, since we already have a divine nature, then if we engage in the development, recitation and completion stage practices, which act like a polish, we can realize what we actually are. The Great Accomplishment book offers detailed explanations of these practices and the underlying theories from which they derive. It gives hands on advice on the meaning, the application and the profound results of working together with other practitioners to accomplish the goal of taming our minds and benefiting others. From the most esoteric to the subtlest of practical details, these three masters, Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche, Orgyen Topgyal Rinpoche and Lama Putsi give a complete guidance manual on this hidden treasure.

Book The Teachings of Padmasambhava

Download or read book The Teachings of Padmasambhava written by Herbert Guenther and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2023-08-21 with total page 245 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study explores the ideas of the enigmatic and controversial visionary, known as Padmasambhava. It takes as its starting point a unique and hitherto untouched source: Padmasambhava's writings preserved in the rNying-ma rgyud-'bum that remain excluded from the standard editions of the Tibetan Tanjur collections to this day. The first chapter explains Padmasambhava's holistic background that reflects an anthropocosmic worldview. The second chapter deals with the problem of how this anthropocosmic whole becomes enworlded as samsara and of how the enworlded experiencer disentangles himself from it and regains his original wholeness. The third chapter assesses Padmasambhava's psychological insights and their hermeneutical interpretations. In this study, Herbert Guenther discloses the mind of one of the greatest spiritual geniuses in human history, Padamasambhava — wanderer, mystic, and one of the original founders of Tibetan Buddhism. Here his teachings step out from obscurity to speak with a wonderful clarity. In them is found a surprisingly postmodern portrait of how process dynamics self-organize to construct and "light up" our worlds of experience.

Download or read book Vajra Wisdom written by Kunkyen Tenpe Nyima and published by Shambhala Publications. This book was released on 2022-11-08 with total page 257 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Vajra Wisdom contains two of the most important explanations of the "development stage" of meditation, relevant for most practitioners in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. Now available in paperback for the first time. The practices of deity, mantra, and wisdom are also known within the Tibetan system as the “development stage," because the practitioner is said to attain spiritual insight by developing meditative visualizations that bring the experience of awakening directly into one's present life, without having to wait for later spiritual fulfillment. Vajra Wisdom presents the commentaries of two great nineteenth-century Nyingma masters, Kunkyen Tenpe Nyima and Shechen Gyaltsap IV, which guide practitioners engaged in development stage practice through a series of straightforward instructions. The rarity of this kind of material in English makes it indispensable for practitioners and scholars alike. The goal of the development stage of meditation in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition is to realize the inseparability of phenomena and great emptiness. Using the methods of deity visualization, mantra recitation, and meditative absorption, the practitioner arrives at this nonconceptual view.
