The diatom thanatocoenosis represents a littoral constituent marked by the preponderance of benthic and epontic species and a neritic component manifested by meroplanktonic forms with cryophilic diatoms and stenothermal taxa. Floristic analysis indicates that deposition occurred in a shallow coastal marine environment having lowered salinities and cold water conditions influenced by ice.
