Book Models of Plasma Kinetics and Problems with Their Interpretation in the Current Paradigm

Download or read book Models of Plasma Kinetics and Problems with Their Interpretation in the Current Paradigm written by Vladimir V. Lyahov and published by Nova Science Publishers. This book was released on 2017-12 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Proposed by A.A. Vlasov in 1938, the kinetic equation with a self-consistent electromagnetic field led to a fundamentally new perspective in plasma physics. This equation represents the most profound approach to the description of plasma because it operates directly with plasma particles using the distribution function. Plasma is found everywhere in space; that is why this equation has an extensive application. A large number of works where the study of plasma properties based on the solution of the Vlasov equation have appeared. However, the results based on the solution of the Vlasov equation should be assumed with caution. As noted in the manuscript, the Vlasov equation has a set of formal solutions. The researcher must have the ability to select the correct solutions, correct in the sense of their adequacy to the processes under investigation. Some aspects of the polarization of a magnetoactive plasma are investigated. It is shown that neglecting the electric field in problems of such sharply inhomogeneous structures as a boundary or current layers leads to an inadequate model. Thus, the successive solution of the kinetic equation taking into account the electric polarization field indicates that the equations describing the equilibrium of these sharply inhomogeneous structures become nonlinear and exhibit the property of structural instability. Natural science over time included the expansion of the field of numbers from natural to real. Now, physics is in the stage of semi-recognition of complex numbers. On the one hand, when solving the differential equation, the physicist finds the value of the roots of the characteristic equation in a complex field. However, at the final stage, all imaginary parts are discarded, and only real values of physical quantities are passed in response. In this case, the complex field has a fundamental feature that distinguishes it: it is algebraically closed. The restriction of physical quantities only to the field of real numbers seems logically unsatisfactory since often mathematical operations derive them from the field of the original definition. In this manuscript, some problems of the complexification of physics are investigated

Book Introduction to Plasma Physics

Download or read book Introduction to Plasma Physics written by Donald A. Gurnett and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2017-02-20 with total page 535 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Introducing basic principles of plasma physics and their applications to space, laboratory and astrophysical plasmas, this new edition provides updated material throughout. Topics covered include single-particle motions, kinetic theory, magnetohydrodynamics, small amplitude waves in hot and cold plasmas, and collisional effects. New additions include the ponderomotive force, tearing instabilities in resistive plasmas and the magnetorotational instability in accretion disks, charged particle acceleration by shocks, and a more in-depth look at nonlinear phenomena. A broad range of applications are explored: planetary magnetospheres and radiation belts, the confinement and stability of plasmas in fusion devices, the propagation of discontinuities and shock waves in the solar wind, and analysis of various types of plasma waves and instabilities that can occur in planetary magnetospheres and laboratory plasma devices. With step-by-step derivations and self-contained introductions to mathematical methods, this book is ideal as an advanced undergraduate to graduate-level textbook, or as a reference for researchers.

Book Introduction to Plasma Physics

Download or read book Introduction to Plasma Physics written by R.J Goldston and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2020-07-14 with total page 514 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Introduction to Plasma Physics is the standard text for an introductory lecture course on plasma physics. The text’s six sections lead readers systematically and comprehensively through the fundamentals of modern plasma physics. Sections on single-particle motion, plasmas as fluids, and collisional processes in plasmas lay the groundwork for a thorough understanding of the subject. The authors take care to place the material in its historical context for a rich understanding of the ideas presented. They also emphasize the importance of medical imaging in radiotherapy, providing a logical link to more advanced works in the area. The text includes problems, tables, and illustrations as well as a thorough index and a complete list of references.

Book The Statistical Theory of Non Equilibrium Processes in a Plasma

Download or read book The Statistical Theory of Non Equilibrium Processes in a Plasma written by Yu L Klimontovich and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-09-17 with total page 301 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Statistical Theory of Non-equilibrium Processes in a Plasma covers the modern statistical theory of non-equilibrium processes in a plasma by a unified method, proceeding from the microscopic equations. The book discusses Maxwell equations for slow and fast processes; magnetohydrodynamic equations; microscopic equations for a plasma; and equations with a self-consistent field (Vlasov equations). The text then describes correlation and spectral function; kinetic equations for a plasma; and Landau equations. It also examines the kinetic equations and expressions for spectral functions when the radiation by plasma waves is taken into account; and the hydrodynamic description of processes in a plasma. Physicists and students taking courses in mechanics and mathematics will find the book invaluable.

Book Fundamentals of Plasma Physics

Download or read book Fundamentals of Plasma Physics written by J. A. Bittencourt and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 700 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fundamentals of Plasma Physics is a general introduction designed to present a comprehensive, logical and unified treatment of the fundamentals of plasma physics based on statistical kinetic theory, with applications to a variety of important plasma phenomena. Its clarity and completeness makes the text suitable for self-learning and for self-paced courses. Throughout the text the emphasis is on clarity, rather than formality, the various derivations are explained in detail and, wherever possible, the physical interpretations are emphasized. The mathematical treatment is set out in great detail, carrying out the steps which are usually left to the reader. The problems form an integral part of the text and most of them were designed in such a way as to provide a guideline, stating intermediate steps with answers.

Book Theory of Photon Acceleration

Download or read book Theory of Photon Acceleration written by J.T Mendonca and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2000-12-13 with total page 250 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Photo acceleration has dominated the theoretical plasma physics area in recent years and has found application in all subjects where waves in continuous media are studied - plasma physics, astrophysics, and optics. This theory will provide a modern understanding of photon interaction with matter, helping to develop novel accelerators based on laser-plasma interactions, new radiation sources, and even new models for astrophysical objects. Written by a major player in the field, this book describes the general theory of photo acceleration, which allows fluid, kinetic, quantum, and classical electrodynamical approaches to be formulated. It includes examples from plasma physics, cosmology, fiber optics, mathematical physics, particle accelerator physics, and radiation physics.
