Book Partitioned convolution algorithms for real time auralization

Download or read book Partitioned convolution algorithms for real time auralization written by Frank Wefers and published by Logos Verlag Berlin GmbH. This book was released on 2015-05-11 with total page 278 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This work discusses methods for efficient audio processing with finite impulse response (FIR) filters. Such filters are widely used for high-quality acoustic signal processing, e.g. for headphone or loudspeaker equalization, in binaural synthesis, in spatial sound reproduction techniques and for the auralization of reverberant environments. This work focuses on real-time applications, where the audio processing is subject to minimal delays (latencies). Different fast convolution concepts (transform-based, interpolation-based and number-theoretic), which are used to implement FIR filters efficiently, are examined regarding their applicability in real-time. These fast, elementary techniques can be further improved by the concept of partitioned convolution. This work introduces a classification and a general framework for partitioned convolution algorithms and analyzes the algorithmic classes which are relevant for real-time filtering: Elementary concepts which do not partition the filter impulse response (e.g. regular Overlap-Add and Overlap-Save convolution) and advanced techniques, which partition filters uniformly and non-uniformly. The algorithms are thereby regarded in their analytic complexity, their performance on target hardware, the optimal choice of parameters, assemblies of multiple filters, multi-channel processing and the exchange of filter impulse responses without audible artifacts. Suitable convolution techniques are identified for different types of audio applications, ranging from resource-aware auralizations on mobile devices to extensive room acoustics audio rendering using dedicated multi-processor systems.

Book Zeroing Dynamics Gradient Dynamics and Newton Iterations

Download or read book Zeroing Dynamics Gradient Dynamics and Newton Iterations written by Yunong Zhang and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-10-09 with total page 310 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Neural networks and neural dynamics are powerful approaches for the online solution of mathematical problems arising in many areas of science, engineering, and business. Compared with conventional gradient neural networks that only deal with static problems of constant coefficient matrices and vectors, the authors’ new method called zeroing dynamics solves time-varying problems. Zeroing Dynamics, Gradient Dynamics, and Newton Iterations is the first book that shows how to accurately and efficiently solve time-varying problems in real-time or online using continuous- or discrete-time zeroing dynamics. The book brings together research in the developing fields of neural networks, neural dynamics, computer mathematics, numerical algorithms, time-varying computation and optimization, simulation and modeling, analog and digital hardware, and fractals. The authors provide a comprehensive treatment of the theory of both static and dynamic neural networks. Readers will discover how novel theoretical results have been successfully applied to many practical problems. The authors develop, analyze, model, simulate, and compare zeroing dynamics models for the online solution of numerous time-varying problems, such as root finding, nonlinear equation solving, matrix inversion, matrix square root finding, quadratic optimization, and inequality solving.

Book Recurrent Neural Networks

Download or read book Recurrent Neural Networks written by Larry Medsker and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1999-12-20 with total page 414 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With existent uses ranging from motion detection to music synthesis to financial forecasting, recurrent neural networks have generated widespread attention. The tremendous interest in these networks drives Recurrent Neural Networks: Design and Applications, a summary of the design, applications, current research, and challenges of this subfield of artificial neural networks. This overview incorporates every aspect of recurrent neural networks. It outlines the wide variety of complex learning techniques and associated research projects. Each chapter addresses architectures, from fully connected to partially connected, including recurrent multilayer feedforward. It presents problems involving trajectories, control systems, and robotics, as well as RNN use in chaotic systems. The authors also share their expert knowledge of ideas for alternate designs and advances in theoretical aspects. The dynamical behavior of recurrent neural networks is useful for solving problems in science, engineering, and business. This approach will yield huge advances in the coming years. Recurrent Neural Networks illuminates the opportunities and provides you with a broad view of the current events in this rich field.

Book Sampling Theory and Applications

Download or read book Sampling Theory and Applications written by Stephen D. Casey and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-05-20 with total page 210 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The chapters of this volume are based on talks given at the eleventh international Sampling Theory and Applications conference held in 2015 at American University in Washington, D.C. The papers highlight state-of-the-art advances and trends in sampling theory and related areas of application, such as signal and image processing. Chapters have been written by prominent mathematicians, applied scientists, and engineers with an expertise in sampling theory. Claude Shannon’s 100th birthday is also celebrated, including an introductory essay that highlights Shannon’s profound influence on the field. The topics covered include both theory and applications, such as: • Compressed sensing• Non-uniform and wave sampling• A-to-D conversion• Finite rate of innovation• Time-frequency analysis• Operator theory• Mobile sampling issues Sampling: Theory and Applications is ideal for mathematicians, engineers, and applied scientists working in sampling theory or related areas.
