In spite of the employment of internal and external remedies, the patient complained, three hours after, of burning pains in the throat, stomach, belly, and in the small of the back; the pulse was weak, 120, intermitting; he was taken with convulsions, lasting five minutes, and various spasmodic twitchings in various parts, particularly in the fingers; the pupils were widely dilated, but contracted upon light being held before them.
