Book Super and Hypersonic Aerodynamics and Heat Transfer

Download or read book Super and Hypersonic Aerodynamics and Heat Transfer written by V.Z. Parton and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-03-29 with total page 352 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recent government and commercial efforts to develop orbital and suborbital passenger and transport aircraft have resulted in a burgeoning of new research. The articles in this book, translated from Russian, were contributed by the world's leading authorities on supersonic and hypersonic flows and heat transfer. This superb book addresses the physics and engineering aspects of ultra high-speed aerodynamic problems. Thorough coverage is given to an array of specific problem-solving equations. Super- and Hypersonic Aerodynamics and Heat Transfer will be essential reading for all aeronautical engineers, mechanical engineers, mathematicians, and physicists involved in this exciting field of research.

Book Numerical Prediction of Flow Heat Transfer Turbulence and Combustion

Download or read book Numerical Prediction of Flow Heat Transfer Turbulence and Combustion written by D. Brian Spalding and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2015-07-14 with total page 445 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Numerical Prediction of Flow, Heat Transfer, Turbulence and Combustion: Selected Works of Professor D. Brian Spalding focuses on the many contributions of Professor Spalding on thermodynamics. This compilation of his works is done to honor the professor on the occasion of his 60th birthday. Relatively, the works contained in this book are selected to highlight the genius of Professor Spalding in this field of interest. The book presents various research on combustion, heat transfer, turbulence, and flows. His thinking on separated flows paved the way for the multi-dimensional modeling of turbulence. Arguments on the universality of the models of turbulence and the problems that are associated with combustion engineering are clarified. The text notes the importance of combustion science as well as the problems associated with it. Mathematical computations are also presented in determining turbulent flows in different environments, including on curved pipes, curved ducts, and rotating ducts. These calculations are presented to further strengthen the claims of Professor Spalding in this discipline. The book is a great find for those who are interested in studying thermodynamics.

Book The Role of the Zone of Dependence Concept in Three dimensional Boundary layer Calculations

Download or read book The Role of the Zone of Dependence Concept in Three dimensional Boundary layer Calculations written by Clarence W. Kitchens (Jr.) and published by . This book was released on 1975 with total page 48 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The subject is studied for the general initial-value problem which arises in several applications; e.g., a spinning body at incidence. An exact solution which simulates the essential features of the boundary layer on such a body is used as a test case. The zone of dependence concept places a restriction on the local mesh aspect ratio that may be used. Results from four finite-difference schemes are compared against the exact solution for various wall speeds and mesh aspect ratios. Error growth occurs when the zone of dependence rule is not satisfied. The sensitivity and manner of error growth for the four schemes are different; two of them are relatively insensitive. From stability analyses it is shown that the concepts of stability and zone of dependence are not the same. Our numerical experiments partly contradict the stability analyses.
