Book Fancy Yarns

Download or read book Fancy Yarns written by R H Gong and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2002-10-11 with total page 172 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fancy yarns are those produced with some deliberate discontinuity introduced either into the colour or form of the article with the intention of producing an enhanced aesthetic impression. Most fancy yarns are produced by specialist spinners using machines modified or specially developed for the purpose; others are produced from 'fancy slivers' used as minor components of yarns made by spinners with normal equipment; still others are made exclusively by filament yarns, using adaptations of the airjet texturising process. The text is well illustrated with diagrams, drawings and photographs of yarn structures and the equipment used to create them. It contains close-ups of the yarns themselves together with an analysis to show how appearance and texture can be varied by changing the feedstock or machine settings.Textile historians and conservationists will find the book especially useful in helping to identify yarn types in historical fabrics and in developing an understanding of the variety of yarns available in antiquity and typical uses for them.Fancy yarns is an essential reference to a wide range of industrial textile technologists including spinners, knitters and weavers, fabric and garment manufacturers, students of textile technology and design and curators and conservationists of historical textile collections. - The first book to be devoted exclusively to fancy yarns and fancy doubled yarns - Describes all the major yarn types, their manufacture and potential for use in garments and furnishing fabrics - Includes over 100 drawings, diagrams and photographs

Book Value Added Textile Yarns Manufacturing Techniques and its uses

Download or read book Value Added Textile Yarns Manufacturing Techniques and its uses written by Dr. S. S. Bhattacharya and published by Om SaiTech Books. This book was released on with total page 260 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “Value added textile yarns” means a thread increases its value from the conventional ones with respect to price and aesthetic and functional properties or all at a time. These may be the changes of either bulk, colour, using different raw materials, any changes of technical parameters periodically or randomly etc. along the length of the yarns. Value added also refers to the worth added to a product during production process, means the difference between the selling price and the cost of production is more from the normal product. The more the difference, more will be the value added. The global market of “Value added Textile Yarns” and its products is leaping forward as the conscious of the mankind is gradually increasing. The textile products are lighter, stronger, less effective by the environment are getting popularity in each field of engineering. The book deals from the basic value added yarns, like doubled or folded yarns, to the modern concept of novelty yarns in different fields, like fancy yarns, conductive yarns, medical yarns etc. The book is also discussed the production of bottle flake yarns. Manufacturing technology including modern and conventional is also described in short here, but the most important and necessary material are incorporated. Mathematical Calculation, important technical parameters, etc. are also mentioned. We do hope that the book will satisfy the students, researchers and also those who are in the industries.

Book An Exploration of Fancy Yarn Creation

Download or read book An Exploration of Fancy Yarn Creation written by and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this research was to compile a lexicon of fancy yarns, along with explore non-traditional methods of creating fancy yarns for use in the mechanized, or commercial textile industry. There are many different types of fancy yarns throughout the textile industry. Their uses range from upholstery to apparel and from transportation to home furnishings. Fancy yarns are regarded as any yarn which has deliberate inconsistencies applied during processing. This could include variation through the diameter of the yarn, character, or even in the color. Given the large number of fancy yarns, along with the possibility for a large number of variations, there is also a large number of manufacturing processes that are used in the creation of fancy yarns. A few of the processes used to create fancy yarns include hollow-spindle machinery, fancy twisters, ring-spinning, and chenille machines. These methods have been researched and documented thoroughly. After exploring the traditional methods for fancy yarn creation, untraditional methods were explored, mainly the Gilbos Air Twist System. This system consolidates input feedstock and inserts areas of s- and z-twist throughout the length of the yarn. These areas are separated by areas of entanglement, known as tack points. This research explores the possibilities of yarn creation on the Gilbos Air Twist System. Both yarn samples and fabric samples are included.

Book The Production of Fancy Yarns

Download or read book The Production of Fancy Yarns written by Maan Yousif Al-Manaseer and published by . This book was released on 1981 with total page 89 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Fancy yarns are regarded generally as fashion elements as opposed to classic spun yarns which are the bread and butter of the spinning industry. the fancy yarns of today can be the classics of tomorrow."(2) The truth of the above sentence may be considered from two different aspects: 1. The popularity of fancy yarns which is rapidly increasing primarily due to the wide range of effects which it is possible to incorporate in the yarn structure.2. As a result of the first point, several yarn and textile machinery manufacturers have found a prosperous future associated with these yarns. Initially general details on the different types of fancy yarns were collected from several sources, however, it was found that no comprehensive literature had been published on this subject. After considering the different types of machinery available for the production of fancy yarns, the work was continued with an investigation into the factors responsible for the production of the different fancy effects in the yarn structure. Numerous yarns were produced. A method of classification based on that used by the Textile Institute was used to sub-divide the various types of fancy yarns produced, e.g. continuous effect fancy yarns (Gimp, Loop, Corkscrew and Boucle), intermittent effect fancy yarns (Knop, Slub, Flake and Cover). After obtaining the relevant data of folding twist, overfeed, binding twist and the effect thread count, the yarns produced were mounted in a suitable form. Many of those yarns which were considered to have good aesthetic property are illustrated within the thesis. In total it is hoped that these comments on the production of the majority of the basic types of fancy yarns will offer useful references and guidance for those interested in the production details of fancy yarns in general.

Book Yarn Preparation

Download or read book Yarn Preparation written by John A. Iredale and published by Small-Scale Textiles. This book was released on 1992 with total page 56 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Almost all fabrics, whether woven or knitted, are produced from spun thread. However, this thread or yarn, produced by the spinning operation, either by a hand spinner using the simplest drop spindle or spinning wheel, or spun on the latest automated spinning frame, is rarely in a form suitable to be used immediately for producing a fabric. A broad range of tasks must be undertaken before the actual fabric production is reached. "Yarn Preparation" is concerned with the preparation of yarns which have been spun from staple fibres, and describes the post-spinning processes prior to fabric manufacture, such as yarn doubling, winding and spinning. Covers the operations to consider when producing a fabric by even the most basic of techniques. The information on basic processes, machinery and equipment should assist those people involved in the production of fabrics by showing ways to improve the quality to the end product. Includes a list of suppliers, sources of further information and a reading list. This is a valuable book which fills the need for a practical manual specifically about yarn preparation. Much has been published about the main textile areas of yarn manufacture and fabric production (both weaving and knitting), because yarn preparation tends to be a series of link operations, there have been very few books specifically directed to this area of processing. The "Small-Scale Textiles" series aims to present basic information about all aspects of small-scale textile manufacture from raw rmaterials to finished products, and will be of use to fieldworkers, development agencies, and those starting small-scale manufacture or attempting to improve or extend manufacture.
