Book The First Principles of Law Classic Reprint

Download or read book The First Principles of Law Classic Reprint written by Henry Taylor Terry and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-01-31 with total page 708 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The First Principles of Law The aim of this book is to set out in as plain and simple a manner as possible, and' in what the author ventures to think 18 a somewhat more philosophical arrangement than the usually accepted one of Blackstone, the most general and elementary principles of the law. It was written primarily for the use of the author's students beginning the study of the law; but it is hoped that it may be of service to students of law elsewhere, as well as possibly to readers who without intending to become lawyers wish to get a knowledge in outline of the nature and methods of legal science. It is not designed to take the place of the laiger and more complete treatises with which students generally, begin the1r legal studies, but rather to be used in connec tion with them: and for this reason many subjects have been omitted, such as Agency, Partnership and the greater part of the Law of Persons, which, though 01 the greatest interest and importance in themselves, may still be looked upon as being, so to speak, detachable from the main fabric of legal principles and affording merely special applications of rules and principles which the student ought to understand before he comes to the study of those special branches. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Government Class Book: A Youth's Manual of Instruction in the Principles of Constitutional Government and Law Part II., Principles of law, contains also two divi sions, the first one presenting the main principles which govern the rights and duties of man to man in his every-day life, and his varied rights connected with personal security, liberty, and property and the second giving the rules by which the relations of nations to each other are regulated. Thus the volume presents a general view of the position of the citizen in all the relations he may sustain in this country: to his fellow citizen, to his State, to his Nation, and to foreign nations. Extensive improvements were made by Salter S. Clark, Esq., of New York, in the original form of this work. Changes and additions had been rendered necessary by historic events. A more natural and logical order was pursued, with proper subordination of topics. Each paragraph of a chapter was confined to a single specified subject. Analyses and diagrams were added, where appropriate, to be used as black board exercises, with review questions for the use of both pupil and teacher. The present edition has been carefully revised. Very few material changes have been made, but some corrections and additions were required to adapt the book to present needs. It is confidently hoped that this work, tested by long experience, may find as much favor in the future as it has received in the past. This book was released on 2015-06-24 with total page 452 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from General Principles of Constitutional Law in the United States of America The manual which follows has been prepared for the use of students in law schools and other institutions of learning. The design has been to present succinctly the general principles of constitutional law, whether they pertain to the federal system, or to the state system, or to both. Formerly, the structure of the federal constitutional government was so distinct from that of the States, that each might usefully be examined and discussed apart from the other; but the points of contact and dependence have been so largely increased by the recent amendments to the federal Constitution that a different course is now deemed advisable. Some general principles of constitutional law, which formerly were left exclusively to state protection, are now brought within the purview of the federal power, and any useful presentation of them must show the part they take in federal as well as state government. An attempt has been made to do this in the following pages. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book A Manual of the Principles of Roman Law Relating to Persons Property and Obligations

Download or read book A Manual of the Principles of Roman Law Relating to Persons Property and Obligations written by Robert Dundonald Melville and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-02-07 with total page 478 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from A Manual of the Principles of Roman Law Relating to Persons, Property, and Obligations: With a Historical Introduction This work has been prompted as the result of the experience obtained by the author during a number of years in lecturing to Egyptian students. The Egyptian Native Codes being based, in very large measure, upon the French Codes, a knowledge of the principles of Roman Law is essential to the student of law in Egypt, who, however, suffers from the disadvantage that he has no knowledge of the Latin language. While it is, therefore, impossible to expound the subject to him either directly or by way of commentary upon the Latin texts, it is, at the same time, necessary to present to the student, in language that will be readily understood, a statement of the main principles of the Roman Law in such a manner as will both compensate for his lack of a classical education and do fair justice to the subject. With this object in view, the subject is here expounded by a method of divisions and sub-divisions, each of which is, as far as possible, self-contained; on which account, indeed, there may appear to be, at times, somewhat of redundancy. For the sake of greater simplicity and clearness moreover. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book excerpt: Excerpt from A Manual of Common School Law In the second place, the authority of the teacher as a teacher, independent of that which is dele gated to him by the trustees, has been established upon a definite basis. The decision on page 140 is of great importance as fixing the relation between trustees and teachers. On the other hand, the authority of the teacher over the child has been noticeably narrowed. Such decisions as those on page 152 would probably be now impossible anywhere, and there is more and more recognition of the principle that the school is for the child, not the child for the school. Finally the general adoption of compulsory laws puts suspension and expulsion for misconduct upon a new footing, as shown on pages 207 - 210. Book The Inventor s Manual of Legal Principles and Guide to the Patent Office Classic Reprint

This book was released on 2015-07-10 with total page 334 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Inventor's Manual of Legal Principles, and Guide to the Patent Office This little work has been abridged from, the authors larger Treatise on Patent Law, for the use of inventors. In the experience of ingenious men, engaged in prosecuting discoveries and inventions, there often occurs, in the first place, the interesting and important question, what constitutes a patentable invention? This is a question, upon which, in many, if not in most cases, no inventor will do well to trust entirely to his own judgment, even for the preliminary purpose of an application to the Patent Office. But it must be a great aid to any inventor, in presenting to counsel in the first instance the nature of his discovery or invention, to have some knowledge of the general principles of that system of law whose protection he wishes to invoke. Such a general knowledge may save him many useless experiments, and will enable him to present the case, on which he wishes advice, clearly and intelligibly, and perhaps save him from the consequences of an infringement on the rights of others. It will also enable him to know what diligence he must use, in a case where he supposes himself to be in danger of rivalry from the simultaneous efforts of other persons. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Commercial Law: A Practical Manual Covering the Fundamental Principles of Law as Applied to Business in General, With Special Reference to Common Law Affecting the More Usual Commercial Transactions HE purpose of the author in writing this article was to furnish a book of instruction for those unacquainted with legal principles, rather than to furnish a legal guide for trained men. However, because of the care with which the subjects have been treated, it is hoped that the work will be found to appeal to the latter as well as the former class of readers. 11] The most important subjects of the common law, arranged with a view of their logical development, are discussed. By common law, is meant the customs of the people, recognized by the written or unwritten decisions of the courts, as distinguished from legis lative acts, known as statute or written law. (11 The author has discussed those statutes only which are quite universally recognized. Students of business administration require a knowledge of the principles of common law. They do not require a knowledge of the great mass of statutes, differing in the different States and subject to frequent change. Even attorneys do not attempt to keep posted on the statutes of different States, but examine them only as occasion requires.
