Book Look Back to See Ahead

Download or read book Look Back to See Ahead written by B. G. Dyck and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2011-07 with total page 264 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bernice G. Dyck has been a school teacher and a follower of Christ all the years of her life. She learned to serve others at a very young age. When she was in Kindergarten, she was already singled out as the person who was ready, willing, and able to help those who need it. She taught for more than 30 years in the public school system, and has done part-time teaching at Red River College and at the University of Winnipeg. While keeping busy and involved with the organizations that she worked for, she spent many years writing books in her spare time. She recently went back to the 'education system' as a student of theology, and has spent two years preparing to help churches that need a Lay Worship Leader for a period of time. During those experiences, some as long as several months, at the request of the congregation, her passion for Christ has continued to grow, and the novels and Christian books she has written should help us to know and understand our God, who made us with the potential to be an excellent servant, following in Jesus' footsteps. Now, with several books ready for publication, she is happy to share her passion for living with and for God. Whether you are a declared Christian or not, God has already been working in your life! This book should lead you to see how that has already happened as you Look Back over your life. It should also help to See Ahead and determine how God's work in the past will strongly influence your future, and how it will help you to share God's love with others! Retrospection can, and will change your life! Thanks be to God!

Book Looking Back to See Ahead

Download or read book Looking Back to See Ahead written by Helen Harris Perlman and published by University of Chicago Press. This book was released on 1989-11-06 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In over sixty years of involvement in social work—as practitioner, supervisor, teacher, consultant, and author—Helen Harris Perlman has become all but a legend. She has served on national policy committees, lectured around the world, and participated in pioneering social work programs and research. Her wide-ranging experiences enrich her vision of the social work profession: typically she is able to see the forest and the trees. Grounded in psychodynamic and social theory, lucid, forthright, and compassionate, her writings serve to inspire and guide experienced practitioners, teachers, and present-day students. Looking Back to See Ahead offers pieces chosen for their centrality to Perlman's thinking on some of the major problems of social work practice and education. To each essay she has added her current, informal comments. Refreshingly original is the section "After Hours," in which she captures, in sketches and verse, the humor and heartache that are inevitable in any profession that deals with hurt and troubled people.

Moving forward can mean a lot of things to a lot of people, but what if it meant first looking back in order to look ahead? Through her own deepest valleys and highest peak moments, Courtney seeks to share love, joy, and healing from the God who has brought her through so much. The world seemed dark from unwelcome hospital stays, her Dad's fight with ALS, combating the need to forgive, and the loss of some of her favorite people. Anxiety, fear, and depression came knocking, but Courtney chose to fight. With the help of a godly and trusted counselor, Courtney walked through some dark days. She had to look back at some of her greatest fears and break them down so that she could adequately cope with them in order to look ahead to a future full of much hope and anticipation. Your story matters too, no matter what the pages hold. Choose to keep showing up and remember that sometimes we have to look back in order to look ahead.

Book A Look Back to See Ahead

Download or read book A Look Back to See Ahead written by James R. Fisher, Jr. and published by Author House. This book was released on 2007-06-04 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In A LOOK BACK TO SEE AHEAD, Dr. Fisher argues that early twenty-first century America is not unlike the 1970s when young people were forced to participate in an unpopular war; when political upheaval was in the air; when corrupt politicians who lied and deceived the electorate reached a crescendo with Watergate; when drugs were ruining lives; when morality took a holiday; when new forms of bigotry and hatred were hatching; when the automotive industry was in sharp decline, while foreign automakers were eating our lunch; when an energy crisis rocked the land with OPEC's oil embargo; when a paranoid president hunkered down and became a law unto himself; when Congress stayed the same, missed the changes, wouldn't face them, and left the future up for grabs. Sound familiar? Well, it should because today we are stuck in the 1970s, and haven't found a way to be unstuck. Dr. Fisher brings these facts to the fore and lays down some guidelines for dealing with this by looking back to where we've been to see why we are stuck where we are. He cuts through the psychobabble to show that talent is not enough to find happiness; nor is a winning personality with its many masks enough to ensure success. Each of us must find emotional balance in an irrational world because as he puts it, "the heart can get us into a lot more trouble than the head." The world as it was some thirty years ago is shown with people chasing safety while not moving forward at all. He asks, "Has it or we changed? If not, why not?" This book breaks through our cool façade, canned rhetoric, and mania for being insiders with such chapters as the "wisdom of insecurity" and "movement to sense from nonsense." Dr. Fisher chides the reader to give up the obsession with the future and find fulfillment in the present. He shatters the big lie that science holds the key to our wellness, as it is not immune to the same disease. Only we can unlock that door. The book is an invitation to do just that.

In Look Back Wisely, Look Ahead Decisively, the author and teacher Gordon Kainer shares the "small" happenings in his life that turn out to be unforgettable and life-changing. In so doing, he shows how God, in His own time and way, comes through for those who trust in Him. The three sections of the book are titled "My Story" chronicles ofthe author's life, "His Story" the good news of Jesus Christ, and "Our Story" an account of their grace-based relationship. Some events have been stored deep in the archives of American history. All history (good and bad) needs to be shared among people you associate with at different levels to avoid past misfortunes. It's not to pursue anyone to redirect their life, but to understand a history and not step on a past in a disrespectful way.Remember, you cannot change the past, but know of it and learn from it. You can than have an impact on the present to help change the future. And again, I am not trying to please anyone, but pleasing man is only a bi-product of pleasing God. I only want to inform you of a part of American history, so that you may understand. And if needed, use this information to know of a history that's not presented in plain view. As we live in the Present, we must know our Past in order to preserve our Future.

This book was released on 2014-01-08 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Heart Has Its Reasons, Looking Back Looking Ahead. What if we could look ahead while still looking back? What if hard-won insight was ours to use when we needed it? This short book puts such possibilities within our reach. In a series of brief articles, the author explains important thoughts in relating to God, oneself and others. These insights, gained with age and experience, nudge us to find a new path. Then the rest of our journey becomes transforming. With God back in the center, others in their rightful place, and we striving harder, our relationships could regain the luster they once had. The heart, the seat of love, looks back to learn lessons and looks ahead in hope. When lessons of the past become sentinels for the future, we gain peace and joy. To attain that state we must learn to open our hearts to God and others. The theme on the heart throbs in the two parts of the book: One, Love yourself and bleed for others; two, Love God above all else. Twenty-two chapters, a Prologue and an Epilogue resonate the theme. Here are some titles: * Reflections on the year gone by * Does evil serve a purpose? * Does pain heal? * How do we respond to those who offend us? * A crusade for healing * Why do we treat God so badly? The author does not stop at asking questions. In a simple and direct style he answers them - without preaching. Journey with him to look upon a new horizon! Praise for the book: "The thoughts are of Christian inspiration and stimulating, the language is mellifluous and racy, and the book makes pleasant reading. This is a valuable book that can surely help the interested reader towards betterment of self and society." Dr George Kaitholil, Author and Former General Editor of St. Pauls and Better Yourself Books.
