In one single day, at Augusta, in the State of Georgia, I saw several white slave girls, with blue eyes and dazou hair, and I bought a curl from one of them for a dollar to bring home with me to show what sort of wool some of the Southern female slaves have on their heads; many of my friends saw it with astonishment.
