Download or read book The Invisible Middle Term in Proust s A la Recherche Du Temps Perdu written by Roxanne Hanney and published by Edwin Mellen Press. This book was released on 1990 with total page 186 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume seeks to offer a new way of reading A la Recherche du Temps Perdu, using a fluid manner of interpretation which suggests process rather than product. This study contends that everything in Proust's work is threefold. The middle term is the common ground shared by the two terms of comparison that constitute a metaphor.

Book De l univers visible et invisible

Download or read book De l univers visible et invisible written by Cyrille Latour and published by . This book was released on 2012-12-15 with total page 206 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book La plus belle ruse de la lumi re written by David Elbaz and published by Odile Jacob. This book was released on 2021-10-27 with total page 65 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book L Homme au coeur de l Univers written by Marguerite Berline-Helouin and published by Editeur Guy Tredaniel. This book was released on 2000 with total page 140 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book The Children of Time

    Book Details:
  • Author : Rémy Lestienne
  • Publisher : University of Illinois Press
  • Release : 1995
  • ISBN : 9780252064272
  • Pages : 244 pages

Download or read book The Children of Time written by Rémy Lestienne and published by University of Illinois Press. This book was released on 1995 with total page 244 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "A work of scientific substance and critical wisdom, developed in the urbane idiom of a French scholar." -- J. T. Fraser, founder, International Society for the Study of Time "This is the book for those of us who couldn't wade completely through Hawking's A Brief History of Time and now have it collecting dust on our bookshelves. Well written, thought-provoking, and, most important, understandable." -- Michael Epstein, analytical spectroscopist/chemist, National Institute of Standards and Technology What is time? Does it really pass? These and other fascinating questions about the nature of time animate a continuing philosophical and scientific debate. In this popular French book, now available for the first time in English; my Lestienne moves to make the bewildering concepts of time accessible--and interesting. He uses Galileo, Newton, Einstein, and others to demonstrate how the concepts of causality and entropy became so pervasive that they eventually were substituted for time itself. He also shows how recent advances in astronomy, particle physics, developmental life sciences, and the neurosciences are helping to shape a new philosophical vision of time.

Book Of Minstrelsy and Masks

Download or read book Of Minstrelsy and Masks written by Christine Matzke and published by Rodopi. This book was released on 2006 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This collection is dedicated to a distinguished scholar and writer who for a quarter of a century wrote consistently on African literature and the arts and was a major voice in Nigerian literary circles. Ezenwa-Ohaeto made a mark in contemporary Nigerian poetry by committing pidgin to written form and, by so doing, introducing different creative patterns. He also saw himself as a 'minstrel', as someone who wanted to read, express and enact his work before an audience. First and foremost, however, Ezenwa-Ohaeto was someone who 'un-masked' ideas and meanings hidden in the folds of literary works and made them available to an international academic public. With his outstanding work on Chinua Achebe, he influenced the reception of African literary biography. His networks and connections were extensive and wide-ranging, and they are partly reflected in the essays, creative writing and personal notes assembled in this volume. In their various modes and expressions, the contributions included here constitute a tribute to Ezenwa-Ohaeto's many talents and achievements. As an extension of Ezenwa-Ohaeto's legacy, they expand on various aspects of minstrelsy and the un/masking of texts in a Nigerian and broader African context. The book is divided into six sections. "In Memoriam" contains personal tributes by long-standing colleagues, mentors and friends. "Poetry and Fiction" collects the voices of three generations of Nigerian writing from the 1960s to the present day, followed by poetic and pictorial insights into the domestic and social life of the scholar and family man. Section Four comprises two interviews, while Sections Five and Six are devoted to critical evaluations of Ezenwa-Ohaeto's work and to contemporary perspectives on Nigerian literature respectively.

In Religion et rationalité, ten scholars offer a new insight into the way Philo of Alexandria creates an original rationality while commenting on the Scripture, and into the posterity of this method.
