Book Guide to Quebec Catholic Parishes and Published Parish Marriage Records

Download or read book Guide to Quebec Catholic Parishes and Published Parish Marriage Records written by Jeanne Sauve White and published by Genealogical Publishing Com. This book was released on 2009-06 with total page 153 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The bulk of this work consists of county-by-county lists of parishes within the Province of Quebec, and all known Catholic parishes are listed to 1900. Each list gives the names of all the parishes within that county, arranged in order of formation, with the date of the oldest records for that parish. A reference letter and name after the parish indicates the compiler and publisher of a marriage register for that parish, or whether the marriages for that parish may be found in the important Loiselles Marriage Index.

Book Archival Principles of Churches

Download or read book Archival Principles of Churches written by Jeanette White Ford and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2002-11-09 with total page 155 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a guidebook for archival assistants and new librarians. It is broken down into simple, clear, concise concepts, illustrated in line drawing, cartoon-style. Its generic nature explains the how and why of archival work with only a few sentences; and the illustrations match the concepts. Each section has the same format: introduction and definition, examples, and fill-in-the-blank review-tests for each section and each chapter. The concise five page summary at the end covers the entire book, without the pictures, and substitutes for no index. A one-page bibliography completes the book. I recommend it for large libraries with a large staff." Tim Loud, graduate student, Texas Woman's University The combination of simple statements, with images that illustrate one or two related points in an interesting way, has much to recommend it, particularly to volunteers working in the archive environment who may not have the background, or the opportunity, to digest the contents of a complex manual." Barbara L. Craig, University Archivist and Head of Archives and Special Collections at New York University, North York

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Whether your family tree is partially filled out, mostly complete, or full with many LDS relatives, this step-by-step method will help you discover new relatives and reserve their temple ordinances. You will review the accuracy of your tree, analyze your pedigree, and make a list of ancestors to research. Those with many LDS relatives will locate research opportunities by diving deeper into tree analysis and listing ancestors who were not members of the LDS Church. Using descendancy research to find cousins will open doors for those will full family trees. Instead of selecting random ancestors, you will systematically view descendancy trees for each of the ancestors in your list. By evaluating each descendancy tree, you can determine which branches are most likely to contain candidates for further research likely to be found in available records. Once you have chosen a relative to focus on, you'll begin a research project. Research begins by choosing a research question. Next you will create a simple research plan and research log. When you have completed your searches, you will then record what you found in FamilySearch, including adding sources and new relatives to the tree, and then write a summary of your research. After merging duplicates you will be ready to reserve temple ordinances. After you've successfully found names for the temple, you can repeat the process by going back to your list of candidates for further research and begin again with a new research question. Now you won't run out of research opportunities! As you research each relative one by one, you will grow to love them and think of them as friends. As President Eyring said, "your heart will be bound to theirs forever."

Book Guide to Vital Statistics Records of Church Archives in Louisiana Vol 1

Download or read book Guide to Vital Statistics Records of Church Archives in Louisiana Vol 1 written by U. S. Work Projects Administration and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-10-12 with total page 410 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Guide to Vital Statistics Records of Church Archives in Louisiana, Vol. 1: Protestant and Jewish Churches The dates covered, number of volumes, and names and addresses of custodians have been checked as carefully as possible to insure the greatest accuracy in the data. However, the close attention accorded the larger and more accessible churches could not be given practicably to the smaller and more outlying religious groups. A lack of personnel in some localities has greatly handicapped the preparation of this volume, and for this reason no listing could be made in several parishes. The excluded parishes are as follows: Assumption, Cameron, Lafourche, Plaquemines, St. Martin, St. Nary, Tensas, Vermilion, and West Baton Rouge. The present volume is issued in the nature of a preliminary publication because it was not considered justifiable to delay the r lease of the available information while attempting to secure further coverage. It is regrettable that so Vital a program could not be fully completed, and it is hoped that the two volumes of this series may, by their Simple utility, engender a sufficiently active interest on the part of some agency to extend the inventory to a successful culmination.
