Download or read book Gun Lap written by Robert Wolgemuth and published by B&H Publishing Group. This book was released on 2021-05-25 with total page 177 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: You may think you’re too old to run fast, but you’re not too old to run well. When the lead runner starts his final lap in a long-distance race, the starter fires his pistol for the second time. This signals the start of the gun lap—the last chance to leave it all out on the track. “Gun Lap” is for men who are running their last lap. Or maybe younger men who are looking ahead to their gun lap, but want to live the rest of their lives with purpose and strength. This is no small thing. In fact, it’s a big deal, because we only get one chance at this life. The author of the New Testament book of Hebrews agrees...wrote, “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us” (12:1 CSB). Perseverance. No word better describes the goal of this race…every lap…including the last one. “Gun Lap” will help you pay close attention to the strides you have left.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Introduction to Early Childhood Education provides current and future educators with a highly readable, comprehensive overview of the field. The underlying philosophy of the book is that early childhood educators’ most important task is to provide a program that is sensitive to and supports the development of young children. Author Eva L. Essa and new co-author Melissa Burnham provide valuable insight by strategically dividing the book into six sections that answer the “What, Who, Why, Where, and How” of early childhood education. Utilizing both NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children) and DAP (Developmentally Appropriate Practice) standards, this supportive text provides readers with the skills, theories, and best practices needed to succeed and thrive as early childhood educators.
Download or read book Out of Iran written by Bahram Darugar and published by Wheatmark, Inc.. This book was released on 2014-06 with total page 225 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In many respects, Bahram Darugar's early life was unremarkable. He studied hard, navigated the minefields of puberty and dating, and attended medical school at the University of Tehran. But those years also brought him face-to-face with bigotry and persecution. He was beaten by a soldier who suspected him of protesting against the government. His father was imprisoned for being a member of the Baha'i Faith. His female family members struggled to lead lives that were free of restriction-or as free as they could make them. When Bahram emigrated to the United States in 1960, the culture shock was overwhelming. With fierce tenacity, he mastered the English language and the customs of his adopted country, but he never lost affection for his homeland. And he never lost hope that those he'd left behind would someday enjoy the freedoms most Americans take for granted. Out of Iran chronicles Bahram's journey through two different worlds. Offering a glimpse into Iran's rich culture and the immigrant experience, his story also pays tribute to the "stepchildren of Allah"-those women, religious minorities, and other oppressed people who continue to live under a regime that denies their right to self-expression. Bahram "Barry" Darugar is a retired general and vascular surgeon. He was born in Iran and graduated summa cum laude from Tehran University School of Medicine in 1959. He received a scholarship to further his studies in the United States of America. At Emory University, he completed his studies as a surgeon and became a diplomat of the American College of Surgeons in 1966. After retiring, he completed the MFA program at GCSU. He lives with his wife, Debbie, and two shih tzu dogs named Precious and Bella on Lake Oconee, Georgia. His four children and five grandchildren all live in the USA. Several of his articles and poems have been published in various national journals including Medical Economics, Touchstone, Colere, World Order, Peacock's Feet at GCSU, and The Reach of Song 2013 anthology. He is also the 2004 first place nonfiction award winner at GCSU. He is the first place winner of the 2012 Georgia Poetry society contest and first place winner of the Georgia Writers Museum creative writing contest.

Book excerpt: Sabrina So Far is a coming-of-age story with a metaphysical twist. 25 year old Sabrina Ryder follows her new-found curiosity as it takes her down some strange rabbit holes. Segueing from a strict Mormon lifestyle into the wilds of the open mind/heart, she finds the ‘crossing’ somewhat treacherous and unpredictable. Inclined towards the ideal, her vivid imagination calls forth a teacher/guide from another realm, who just happens to have written a classic little gem called, The Lazy Man’s Guide to Enlightenment. Thadeous Golas, once a hippie living in Haight-Ashbury during the 70’s (now a citizen of the 5th dimension), takes Sabrina on some rawther crazy head trips, hijacking her mind in the most unexpected places: a Narnian style closet, a new-age bookstore, and way out in the Utah Moab desert (I mean, way out, man). On her journey towards Self, Sabrina finds love in non-traditional ways; stares with bravado into the barrel of a shotgun; and encounters God—wait for it—in an elevator.
