Book Introduction to Finite Strain Theory for Continuum Elasto Plasticity

Download or read book Introduction to Finite Strain Theory for Continuum Elasto Plasticity written by Koichi Hashiguchi and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2012-10-09 with total page 371 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Comprehensive introduction to finite elastoplasticity, addressing various analytical and numerical analyses & including state-of-the-art theories Introduction to Finite Elastoplasticity presents introductory explanations that can be readily understood by readers with only a basic knowledge of elastoplasticity, showing physical backgrounds of concepts in detail and derivation processes of almost all equations. The authors address various analytical and numerical finite strain analyses, including new theories developed in recent years, and explain fundamentals including the push-forward and pull-back operations and the Lie derivatives of tensors. As a foundation to finite strain theory, the authors begin by addressing the advanced mathematical and physical properties of continuum mechanics. They progress to explain a finite elastoplastic constitutive model, discuss numerical issues on stress computation, implement the numerical algorithms for stress computation into large-deformation finite element analysis and illustrate several numerical examples of boundary-value problems. Programs for the stress computation of finite elastoplastic models explained in this book are included in an appendix, and the code can be downloaded from an accompanying website.

Book Elastic Plastic Theory at Finite Strain

Download or read book Elastic Plastic Theory at Finite Strain written by Stanford University. Department of Applied Mechanics and published by . This book was released on 1973 with total page 56 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is shown that in order to solve certain technological problems, it is necessary to develop elastic-plastic theory for which both components of strain can be finite. This poses a challenging problem because of the need to include nonlinear discontinuous response to loading history, that is to determine nonlinear discontinuous functionals. Various approaches to this challenge are considered and contrasted. The possible advantages of direct extension of classical approaches is expressed. Questions of the validity and applicability of suggested theories are considered from the standpoints of invariance, convenience of representation for specific materials and for introduction into stress and strain analysis evaluations. Thermodynamic aspects are also discussed. (Author).

Book The Analysis of Elastic plastic Deformation and Stress at Finite Strain and Their Evaluation

Download or read book The Analysis of Elastic plastic Deformation and Stress at Finite Strain and Their Evaluation written by Erastus Henry Lee and published by . This book was released on 1983 with total page 28 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Several aspects of elastic-plastic analysis relevant to technological applications which have been investigated on the project are discussed. References to the reports or papers dealing with these aspects are given. The topics are: (1) the generation of residual stress in metal-forming processes, in particular extrusion; (2) finite-deformation elastic-plastic theory based on the nonlinear coupled kinematics; (3) stress analysis in the presence of anisotropic hardening, in particular kinematic hardening; and (4) computer program development to improve accuracy and generality. Book Elastic plastic Deformation at Finite Strains

Download or read book Elastic plastic Deformation at Finite Strains written by E. H. Lee and published by . This book was released on 1968 with total page 27 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In some circumstances, elastic-plastic deformation occurs in which both components of strain are finite. Such situations fall outside the scope of classical plasticity theory which assumes either infinitesimal strains or plastic-rigid theory for large strains. The present theory modifies the kinematics to include finite elastic and plastic strain components. For situations requiring this generalization, dilatational influences are usually significant including thermo-mechanical coupling. This is introduced through the consideration of two coupled thermodynamic systems: one comprising thermo-elasticity at finite strain and the other the irreversible process of dissipation and absorption of plastic work. The present paper generalizes a previous theory to permit arbitrary deformation histories. (Author).

Book Some Remarks on Elastic Plastic Deformation at Finite Strain

Download or read book Some Remarks on Elastic Plastic Deformation at Finite Strain written by Albert Edward Green and published by . This book was released on 1971 with total page 25 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A number of papers, e.g., by Lee and Liu, have appeared recently which are concerned with a non-isothermal theory of large elastic-plastic deformations. This theory is not entirely satisfactory in the sense that not all of its constitutive equations are invariant under superposed rigid body motions. Moreover, apart from this defect (and aside from certain ad hoc thermodynamical assumptions employed), the limitations of this theory and its relationship to the more general thermodynamical theory of Green and Naghdi has not been made clear. The present paper is intended to provide the needed clarifications pertaining to the above remarks. (Author).

Book Constitutive Equations for Elastic plastic Materials at Finite Strain

Download or read book Constitutive Equations for Elastic plastic Materials at Finite Strain written by L. B. Freund and published by . This book was released on 1969 with total page 32 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Constitutive equations are suggested for describing the behavior of elastic-plastic materials undergoing large strains. A special kinematical viewpoint is taken, so that the elastic and plastic deformation processes can be considered separately. This separation is also accomodated by a simplified thermodynamical theory of the deformation process. The general elastic constitutive equation is written as a rate equation, after examining the interpretation of elastic isotropy in view of the particular kinematical description employed. To describe plastic deformation, a general rate equation, which exhibits no dependence on the rate at which previous states have been traversed, is suggested. After the general relations have been put in appropriate form some simplifications based on physical assumptions are considered. The physical assumptions are based on the behavior of metals under large stress, high speed loading, such as in the penetration problem. Under these operating conditions, the thermoelastic effects dominate and plasticity plays a minor role. Consequently, a simple model of plastic deformation usually suffices. The analysis is presented in direct (matrix) notation and is valid for arbitrary stress states. (Author).
