Book Testing and Diagnosis of Analog Circuits and Systems

Download or read book Testing and Diagnosis of Analog Circuits and Systems written by Ruey-wen Liu and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 290 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: IS THE TOPIC ANALOG TESTING AND DIAGNOSIS TIMELY? Yes, indeed it is. Testing and Diagnosis is an important topic and fulfills a vital need for the electronic industry. The testing and diagnosis of digital electronic circuits has been successfuIly developed to the point that it can be automated. Unfortu nately, its development for analog electronic circuits is still in its Stone Age. The engineer's intuition is still the most powerful tool used in the industry! There are two reasons for this. One is that there has been no pressing need from the industry. Analog circuits are usuaIly small in size. Sometimes, the engineer's experience and intuition are sufficient to fulfill the need. The other reason is that there are no breakthrough results from academic re search to provide the industry with critical ideas to develop tools. This is not because of a lack of effort. Both academic and industrial research groups have made major efforts to look into this problem. Unfortunately, the prob lem for analog circuits is fundamentally different from and much more diffi cult than its counterpart for digital circuits. These efforts have led to some important findings, but are still not at the point of being practicaIly useful. However, these situations are now changing. The current trend for the design of VLSI chips is to use analog/digital hybrid circuits, instead of digital circuits from the past. Therefore, even Ix x Preface though the analog circuit may be small, the total circuit under testing is large.

Book Fault Diagnosis of Nonlinear Analog Circuits Volume III Fault Diagnosis in the Tableau Context

Download or read book Fault Diagnosis of Nonlinear Analog Circuits Volume III Fault Diagnosis in the Tableau Context written by Larry Rapisarda and published by . This book was released on 1983 with total page 73 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report derails a multifrequency tableau approach for the fault diagnosis of analog linear circuits and systems. The approach utilizes a modified Newton-Raphson solution algorithm to solve a nonlinear (often quadratic) set of tableau equations which characterize the parameters to be identified for the purposes of fault diagnosis. The theory and algorithm are applied to the fault diagnosis of a video amplifier circuit. (Author).

Book Fault Diagnosis of Nonlinear Analog Circuits Volume IV An Isolation Algorithm for the Analog Fault Dictionary

Download or read book Fault Diagnosis of Nonlinear Analog Circuits Volume IV An Isolation Algorithm for the Analog Fault Dictionary written by Y. S. Elcherif and published by . This book was released on 1983 with total page 58 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A new approach for fault location in an analog fault dictionary has been adopted on the basis of quantizing circuit responses. The possibility of quantization is offered by faults having nearly the same effect on some test measurements. This produces multivalued logic responses which can be manipulated logically to obtain decision rules for fault location. A logical isolation algorithm has been introduced to form a dictionary for hard fault diagnosis using d.c. voltage measurements. The dictionary consists of tables containing voltage ranges of quantized response and numerical codes identifying different faults inthe dictionary. The test measurements chosen by the algorithm are free from redundancy and provide the maximum fault isolation capability of all initially chosen measurements. The algorithm can be easily implemented with some extra software added to the circuit simulator used in fault simulation. Hardware implementation of a logical isolation ATE is simple and efficient compared to a least squares based dictionary. The algorithm has been extended to handle multiple test input conditions. Book Fault Diagnosis of Nonlinear Analog Circuits Volume II A Multifrequency Method for Soft Failure Analysis

Download or read book Fault Diagnosis of Nonlinear Analog Circuits Volume II A Multifrequency Method for Soft Failure Analysis written by L. Rapisarada and published by . This book was released on 1982 with total page 134 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report is a companion report (Volume II) of TR-EE-82-21. this volume describes multifrequency testing of interconnected analog circuits assuming soft failures. In particular the report details two approaches to soft failure multifrequency diagnosis: the composite system transfer function approach and the tableau approach. The two approaches are evaluated theoretically and numerically with the tableau approach shown to be far superior.

Book Fault Diagnosis of Nonlinear Analog Circuits Volume I DC Diagnosis of Hard Failures

Download or read book Fault Diagnosis of Nonlinear Analog Circuits Volume I DC Diagnosis of Hard Failures written by P. M. Lin and published by . This book was released on 1982 with total page 62 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The dc fault dictionary approach has been found very useful for locating hard failures (open circuits and short circuits) in nonlinear analog circuits. In this research project, we have introduced several new techniques to enhance the capability of the dc fault dictionary. Among our new results, the most significant ones are: (1) The use of the complementary pivot method to find test node voltages under all faults. (2) The set-up of the fault dictionary in the form of integer codes instead of test node voltages. The former technique makes it possible to rapidly analyze large circuits under all fault conditions. This book was released on 2002-05-06 with total page 773 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The tools and techniques you need to break the analog design bottleneck! Ten years ago, analog seemed to be a dead-end technology. Today, System-on-Chip (SoC) designs are increasingly mixed-signal designs. With the advent of application-specific integrated circuits (ASIC) technologies that can integrate both analog and digital functions on a single chip, analog has become more crucial than ever to the design process. Today, designers are moving beyond hand-crafted, one-transistor-at-a-time methods. They are using new circuit and physical synthesis tools to design practical analog circuits; new modeling and analysis tools to allow rapid exploration of system level alternatives; and new simulation tools to provide accurate answers for analog circuit behaviors and interactions that were considered impossible to handle only a few years ago. To give circuit designers and CAD professionals a better understanding of the history and the current state of the art in the field, this volume collects in one place the essential set of analog CAD papers that form the foundation of today's new analog design automation tools. Areas covered are: * Analog synthesis * Symbolic analysis * Analog layout * Analog modeling and analysis * Specialized analog simulation * Circuit centering and yield optimization * Circuit testing Computer-Aided Design of Analog Integrated Circuits and Systems is the cutting-edge reference that will be an invaluable resource for every semiconductor circuit designer and CAD professional who hopes to break the analog design bottleneck.
