Book Essentials of Job Attitudes and Other Workplace Psychological Constructs

Download or read book Essentials of Job Attitudes and Other Workplace Psychological Constructs written by Valerie I. Sessa and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2020-12-21 with total page 332 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although the topic of job attitudes and other workplace psychological constructs such as perceptions, identity, bonds, and motivational states is important, there are no books addressing the topic as a whole. Essentials of Job Attitudes and Other Workplace Psychological Constructs seeks to fill that void in a comprehensive edited volume that compiles chapters by experts on each construct. Essentials of Job Attitudes and Other Workplace Psychological Constructs begins with a review of the concept of job attitudes and other workplace psychological constructs, then devotes a single chapter to each construct. These chapters focus on organizational justice, perceived organizational support, organizational identification, job involvement, workplace commitments, job embeddedness, job satisfaction, employee engagement, and team-related work attitudes. Each of these chapters addresses parallel content including definitions, history, theory, a critique of the field to date with future research recommendations, and how the given construct can be used in practice. There are two additional features that make this book unique: first, each chapter provides a nomological network figure of the workplace psychological construct addressed; and second, each chapter provides one or more of the current measures used to assess the construct of interest. Essentials of Job Attitudes and Other Workplace Psychological Constructs is an ideal text for students and professionals in industrial-organizational psychology, organizational behavior, and human resource management.

Book An Exploratory Factor Analysis Examining Traits Perceived Fit and Job Satisfaction in Employed College Graduates

Download or read book An Exploratory Factor Analysis Examining Traits Perceived Fit and Job Satisfaction in Employed College Graduates written by John R. Brandon and published by . This book was released on 2011 with total page 214 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study is an analysis of 24 variables associated with employee attitudes, behaviors and outcomes. A total of 140 college graduates participated in the study. Utilizing exploratory factor analysis (EFA) techniques, the research examined relationships among the following variables: perceived fit, job satisfaction, cognitive ability, vocational personality, academic achievement and gender. Components were extracted using Principal Components Analysis (PCA) and orthogonally rotated resulting in three component solution. A simple interpretable structure was revealed, demonstrating a strong but differentially related association among three forms of perceived fit and facet level job satisfaction. The person-trait variables in the study were minimally related to perceived fit and satisfaction.

Book The Psychology of Work

Download or read book The Psychology of Work written by Jeanne M. Brett and published by Psychology Press. This book was released on 2002-03-01 with total page 376 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This edited volume is derived from a conference held in honor of Charles Hulin's contribution to the psychology of work. His research has carefully developed and tested theory related to job satisfaction, withdrawal from work, and sexual harassment. Edited by Hulin's students, The Psychology of Work discusses research in job satisfaction. This research shows that job satisfaction plays an essential role in theories of organizational behavior. Formal models are used, such as item response theory, structural equation modeling, and computational models. Three general and consistent themes in Hulin's research are represented in this book's chapters. The first theme is a focus on broad, general constructs, such as job satisfaction. The virtue of this approach is that a wide range of behavior can be explained by a small number of variables. The second theme involves the examination of the antecedents and consequences of job satisfaction. This theme is increasingly important because it ties research on job attitudes and job behaviors where links are consistently found to social attitudes and behaviors where links are rarely found. The third theme consists of Hulin's interest in the use of formal models to characterize and understand behavior. This volume will be of interest to scholars and students in industrial/organizational psychology, human resources, organizational behavior, and management.
