Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Athletes and fitness warriors in the West are constantly looking to train and recover better. They gain muscle mass through weight training but find that their sports performance suffers. They reach a target weight by following a strict diet but feel bloated or tired. They appear to be in great shape but consistently underperform because of mental stress. We need to know how to balance the different training variables available to us in order to achieve and sustain optimum fitness and performance in our lives. In Dynamic Balance, authors Andy (Tsz Chiu) Chan and Stella (Yat Kwan) Wong show why the rigors of Western approaches to training often create imbalances in our physical and mental health. They explain traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) principles and techniques in simple terms and demonstrate how incorporating TCM into our lifestyle and workouts can help us perform at our best and be at our healthiest. TCM is not a myth or weird alternative to real medicine but an ancient practice that’s based in science and relevant to us today. In this book, you’ll learn how to: • evaluate the current state of your body and figure out your constitution type • find the root causes of your imbalances • adapt your diet and workouts • strengthen your breathing and develop harmony in your movements • make better-informed decisions about your health Your body and fitness needs are dynamic and always changing, as are the situations in the world around you. Dynamic Balance will show you how to adjust your training, diet, and mentality to improve your performance, live a healthier life, and reach your goals.

Book Handbook of Human Motion

Download or read book Handbook of Human Motion written by and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-04-24 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Handbook of Human Motion is a large cross-disciplinary reference work which covers the many interlinked facets of the science and technology of human motion and its measurement. Individual chapters cover fundamental principles and technological developments, the state-of-the-art and consider applications across four broad and interconnected fields; medicine, sport, forensics and animation. The huge strides in technological advancement made over the past century make it possible to measure motion with unprecedented precision, but also lead to new challenges. This work introduces the many different approaches and systems used in motion capture, including IR and ultrasound, mechanical systems and video, plus some emerging techniques. The large variety of techniques used for the study of motion science in medicine can make analysis a complicated process, but extremely effective for the treatment of the patient when well utilised. The handbook descri bes how motion capture techniques are applied in medicine, and shows how the resulting analysis can help in diagnosis and treatment. A closely related field, sports science involves a combination of in-depth medical knowledge and detailed understanding of performance and training techniques, and motion capture can play an extremely important role in linking these disciplines. The handbook considers which technologies are most appropriate in specific circumstances, how they are applied and how this can help prevent injury and improve sporting performance. The application of motion capture in forensic science and security is reviewed, with chapters dedicated to specific areas including employment law, injury analysis, criminal activity and motion/facial recognition. And in the final area of application, the book describes how novel motion capture techniques have been designed specifically to aid the creation of increasingly realistic animation within films and v ideo games, with Lord of the Rings and Avatar just two examples. Chapters will provide an overview of the bespoke motion capture techniques developed for animation, how these have influenced advances in film and game design, and the links to behavioural studies, both in humans and in robotics. Comprising a cross-referenced compendium of different techniques and applications across a broad field, the Handbook of Human Motion provides the reader with a detailed reference and simultaneously a source of inspiration for future work. The book will be of use to students, researchers, engineers and others working in any field relevant to human motion capture.

Book Earth s Atmosphere Dynamic Balance Meteorology

Download or read book Earth s Atmosphere Dynamic Balance Meteorology written by Cesar MBANE BIOUELE and published by Scientific Research Publishing, Inc. USA. This book was released on 2015-01-12 with total page 110 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Meteorology, as practiced and universally taught today, only describes the behavior of ideal gases. Unfortunately, a huge portion of the troposphere, revealed by the mathematical formulation of earth’s atmosphere dynamic balance delivered in 2009 by Cesar Mbane Biouele, has thermal behaviors diametrically opposed to those of ideal gas. Due to this mistake, many things meteorology offers in this pertinent region of the Troposphere, wrongly regarded as an ideal gas, are completely false. The effectiveness of the earth’s atmosphere dynamic balance equation derived in 2009 by C. M. Biouele is proved in his recent papers and can help to eliminate multiple errors that each of us will next time easily discover in some literary and audiovisual works on climate or meteorology. Approaches suggested by the earth’s atmosphere dynamic balance Meteorology will greatly improve our knowledge on kinematics and thermodynamics profiles of several weather events. Especially: Earth’s Atmosphere General Circulation, Earth’s atmosphere prevailing surface winds, Hurricanes and Cyclones wind’s profiles, Relationships between earth’s rotation or revolution and geographical extent of the global surface monsoons and Physics of Atmosphere Dynamic or Electric Balance Processes Such As Thunderclouds and Related Lightning Flashes.

  • Pages : 537 pages

Download or read book Cerebral Palsy written by Freeman Miller and published by JHU Press. This book was released on 2006-05-08 with total page 537 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When a child has a health problem, parents want answers. But when a child has cerebral palsy, the answers don't come quickly. A diagnosis of this complex group of chronic conditions affecting movement and coordination is difficult to make and is typically delayed until the child is eighteen months old. Although the condition may be mild or severe, even general predictions about long-term prognosis seldom come before the child's second birthday. Written by a team of experts associated with the Cerebral Palsy Program at the Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children, this authoritative resource provides parents and families with vital information that can help them cope with uncertainty. Thoroughly updated and revised to incorporate the latest medical advances, the second edition is a comprehensive guide to cerebral palsy. The book is organized into three parts. In the first, the authors describe specific patterns of involvement (hemiplegia, diplegia, quadriplegia), explain the medical and psychosocial implications of these conditions, and tell parents how to be effective advocates for their child. In the second part, the authors provide a wealth of practical advice about caregiving from nutrition to mobility. Part three features an extensive alphabetically arranged encyclopedia that defines and describes medical terms and diagnoses, medical and surgical procedures, and orthopedic and other assistive devices. Also included are lists of resources and recommended reading.

Book Dynamic General Equilibrium Modeling

Download or read book Dynamic General Equilibrium Modeling written by Burkhard Heer and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-10-20 with total page 719 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Modern business cycle theory and growth theory uses stochastic dynamic general equilibrium models. In order to solve these models, economists need to use many mathematical tools. This book presents various methods in order to compute the dynamics of general equilibrium models. In part I, the representative-agent stochastic growth model is solved with the help of value function iteration, linear and linear quadratic approximation methods, parameterised expectations and projection methods. In order to apply these methods, fundamentals from numerical analysis are reviewed in detail. In particular, the book discusses issues that are often neglected in existing work on computational methods, e.g. how to find a good initial value. In part II, the authors discuss methods in order to solve heterogeneous-agent economies. In such economies, the distribution of the individual state variables is endogenous. This part of the book also serves as an introduction to the modern theory of distribution economics. Applications include the dynamics of the income distribution over the business cycle or the overlapping-generations model. In an accompanying home page to this book, computer codes to all applications can be downloaded.
