This book was released on 1987 with total page 66 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Summaries of long-term current, temperature and pressure measurements from moored instruments in the western Pacific Ocean (ranging from 152 W to 165 E longitude and 31 N to 41 N latitude) are presented. There were two consecutive settings of instruments, referred to as Zonal I and Zonal II, each spanning a one-year interval. There were, for the first time, 2 two-year mooring deployment, which were successful. Tables, plots and statistics include filtered and unfiltered data, as well as merged and single setting data. The objective of the experiment was to define the basic properties of the low frequency variability in the mid-latitude North Pacific.

It was located along 175 W from 51 N to 46 N, and instruments were set at 2000 m and deeper. The objective was to explore the northern boundary current system of the North Pacific. Current and temperature measures were made. The data are presented graphically as time series, histograms, scatter plots, progressive vector diagrams and spectral plots. Tables of statistics of temperature and velocity are also shown.

This book was released on 1980 with total page 1488 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Current and temperature measurements are presented from instruments deployed during May of 1976 in the western Indian Ocean, between 50 deg E and 57 deg E and between 1 deg S and 5 deg N. The experiment was part of the INDEX program. Seven mooring sites were occupied. Fourteen current meters and five temperature/pressure recorders were on WHOI moorings at 4 of the sites. Two current meters and eleven temperature/pressure recorders were on MIT moorings at 3 sites. Most of resulting data records are of eight months duration. A current profiler, the White Horse, was also used, and 41 profiles were taken over a six-week period. Basic data from the current meters are presented in statistical tables and graphically as scatter plots, progressive vector plots, spectral plots and time series plots. Filtered time series are shown in composite displays. Basic White Horse data are presented as east and north current component profiles, position plots and perspective vector plots. Selected CTD data are displayed as plots of potential temperature and salinity versus pressure, and as T-S diagrams. Data from four XBT sections are displayed graphically.

This book was released on 1979 with total page 52 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Summaries of observations from moored stations taken during POLYMODE Array I are presented. Currents and water temperatures were measured at various depths, including 500, 800, 1000, 2000 and 4000 meters. Data series are of 9 months duration from August 1974 to May 1975. Low passed east and north current components are displayed as vector stick diagrams and progressive vector plots. Basic 1-hour current meter and temperature data are displayed as time series plots, spectral plots and in statistical tables. Selected CTD data are presented as potential temperature and salinity values plotted against pressure, and as T-S diagrams. (Author).

Book excerpt: The Long-Term Upper Ocean Study (LOTUS) was a two-year field experiment near 34°N, 70°W, designed to acquire a continuous set of measurements of currents and temperatures in the upper, open ocean together with local hydrography, meteorology, and mesoscale oceanographic features. The first scientific moorings were deployed in May 1982. The first year of mooring data, from May 1982-April 1983, is presented by Tarbell, Pennington and Briscoe (1984, W.H.O.I. Tech. Rept. 84-36). The second year of mooring data, from April 1983-May 1984, when the final mooring recovery occurred, is presented here.

This book was released on 1978 with total page 101 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Summaries of observations from moored stations and CTD profiles taken during POLYMODE Array 11 are presented. Data series of twenty-seven months duration at 12 locations were achieved with 3 consecutive deployments. Current meters were set at nominal depths of 600, 1000, 1500 and 4000 meters at eight of the locations and at 4000 meters at the remainder. Nine data series of eight months duration were obtained at similar depths at 3 additional locations. Low passed east and north current components, temperature and pressure from current meters and temperature/pressure recorders are displayed graphically and in tabular form. Spectral diagrams are plotted for temperature and the vector components when a continuous two year time series was achieved. Progressive vector plots are included for velocity data. Selected CTD data are presented as potential temperature and slainity values plotted against pressure. (Author).
