Book Comparison of the D T Neutron Wall Load Distributions in Several Tokamak Fusion Reactor Designs

Download or read book Comparison of the D T Neutron Wall Load Distributions in Several Tokamak Fusion Reactor Designs written by and published by . This book was released on 1975 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The distributions of the neutron angular and scalar flux and current around the wall of three proposed tokamak fusion reactor designs are investigated in detail. The calculational method involves a numerical solution of the integral form of the neutron transport equation using a ray tracing process. The wall loading in a circular cross section tokamak and in two non-circular tokamaks, the Princeton Reference Design and the University of Wisconsin UWMAK, are compared for three different plasma source distributions. The variation of the angular neutron flux at different wall points is investigated for each design. Neutron wall load peaking factors are also calculated and compared for each design, and are found to be sensitive to both the wall shape and plasma source. The divertors in the two non-circular designs are studied for neutron streaming losses and for the wall load in those regions. (auth).

Book Fundamentals of Magnetic Thermonuclear Reactor Design

Download or read book Fundamentals of Magnetic Thermonuclear Reactor Design written by Vasilij A. Glukhikh and published by Woodhead Publishing. This book was released on 2018-05-21 with total page 476 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fundamentals of Magnetic Thermonuclear Reactor Design is a comprehensive resource on fusion technology and energy systems written by renowned scientists and engineers from the Russian nuclear industry. It brings together a wealth of invaluable experience and knowledge on controlled thermonuclear fusion (CTF) facilities with magnetic plasma confinement – from the first semi-commercial tokamak T-3, to the multi-billion international experimental thermonuclear reactor ITER, now in construction in France. As the INTOR and ITER projects have made an immense contribution in the past few decades, this book focuses on its practical engineering aspects and the basics of technical physics and electrical engineering. Users will gain an understanding of the key ratios between plasma and technical parameters, design streamlining algorithms and engineering solutions. - Written by a team of qualified experts who have been involved in the design of thermonuclear reactors for over 50 years - Outlines the most important features of the ITER project in France which is building the largest tokamak, including the design, material selection, safety and economic considerations - Includes data on how to design magnetic fusion reactors using CAD tools, along with relevant regulatory documents

Book Theory of Tokamak Transport

Download or read book Theory of Tokamak Transport written by Leslie Colin Woods and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2006-05-12 with total page 252 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this new approach for a consistent transport theory in nuclear fusion processes Leslie Woods draws on over 40 years of fusion research to directly compare theoretical findings with experimental results, while taking into account recently discovered phenomena. This is thus the first book to find theoretical explanations to the sometimes-puzzling tokamak observations. Following a look at the quest for fusion power, the author goes on to examine tokamak magnetic fields and energy losses, as well as plasma flow and loop voltage. There is also a discussion of the technical constraints on the recently announced ITER design.

Book MHD Equilibrium Properties of Tokamak Fusion Reactor Designs

Download or read book MHD Equilibrium Properties of Tokamak Fusion Reactor Designs written by and published by . This book was released on 1976 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The equilibrium properties of several Tokamak Reactor Designs are analyzed and compared for varying pressure and current profiles using the Princeton Equilibrium Code. It is found that the UWMAK configuration has a broader range of equilibria than the Princeton Reference Design configuration, but that the safety factor on axis is less than unity for peaked current distributions. The Argonne Experimental Power Reactor has a satisfactory range of equilibria, but a means of limiting or diverting the plasma has not yet been proposed, and this may substantially change the results obtained.
