They ultimately wind up on opposite sides of the fence, for Scott 'Zipper' Conlon is a member of the Skuldmen, an outlaw motorcycle club, and Henry Baker is a federal law enforcement officer. During a stakeout, when FBI agent Mitchell Gates observes Zipper leaving the apartment of a suspected terrorist, he implores his old Army buddy to learn what he can about the man. Although uncomfortable doing so, Zipper feels obligated, not only as an American, but because Gates saved his life during the first Gulf War. Due to the Skuldmen's anti-law enforcement beliefs, they agree that their cooperation be kept secret. A terrorist plot to kill thousands, combined with a woman's revelation that Zipper is Henry Baker the cop, sets off a chain reaction that will shake the Skuldmen to the core, as the brothers react. In an unpredictable story of suspense, murder and mistaken identity, three tales merge into one during the biggest biker party of the year, when All Roads Lead to Sturgis.

Book Freedom s Rush Tales from The Biker and The Beast

Download or read book Freedom s Rush Tales from The Biker and The Beast written by Foster Kinn and published by Hugo House Publishers, Ltd.. This book was released on 2013-09-26 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When you're out riding, things happen. If you keep at it, everything happens.... Thus goes the simple wisdom of Foster Kinn in Freedom's Rush: Tales from a Biker and His Beast. Join Foster as he travels through the continental United States with an occasional detour into Canada, experience with him all that can happen in the "day in a life" of a biker: "Sometimes you're hungry, sometimes you eat too much. Sometimes you're unbearably hot, sometimes painfully cold. You lose things and get lost; you find things and find your way. You fall in love, you find things to despise. You bleed and you heal; you get sick, then you're invincible. The rains pelt, the snows blind, the winds make you helpless. You ride through gorgeous scenery and through desolate wastelands; all places are the way they're supposed to be and they're all perfect. It's life in microcosm." In part a celebration of the grandness of this wide, wonderful world, in part a meditation on the meaning of freedom and our sacred right to create, you will laugh with Kinn at all the wonderfully wacky characters he meets on the road, and you will be dazzled by the utter joy he finds as he rides. When you read the last line, you will know what he means when he writes: As long as freedoms exist, we will ride; As long as we ride, freedoms will exist.

Book The Original Wild Ones

Download or read book The Original Wild Ones written by Bill Hayes and published by Motorbooks. This book was released on 2010-11-10 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Get an inside look at the real beginning of outlaw biker culture with this “raucous and heartfelt recounting of the early days of biker clubs” (Roadbike). The story starts one weekend in 1947, at a motorcycle race in Hollister, California. A few members of one club, the no-holds-barred “Boozefighters,” got a little juiced up and took their racing to the street. Word of the fracas spread, and soon enough Life magazine was on hand to tell the world, with sensational (albeit posed) pictures of the outlaws. And then the “Hollister riot” made its way into the movies, immortalized in Marlon Brando’s “The Wild One.” What was the reality behind the myth? Through interviews with the surviving members of the Boozefighters, current member Bill Hayes and club historian Jim “JQ” Quattlebaum take readers right into the fray for a firsthand account of what happened in Hollister, and the formation of the Boozefighters, where the outlaw biker culture truly began. The book, “with its great stories and entertaining real-life characters” (MotorcycleUSA.com), is “mandatory reading for anyone interested in American motorcycling history “(Minnesota Motorcycle Monthly).

Setting out on a motorcycle, the two seasoned travelers rode through Germany, Denmark, and Sweden to the Arctic Circle, then on to Finland, Russia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland. Though they’d been together for seven years, and thought they knew what to expect from an extended road trip, they couldn’t foresee the unrelenting natural elements, shifts in once-shared dreams, or fissures in their relationship that lay ahead. Often darkly humorous, Storm reveals a couple’s love and the fragility of human connections as it recounts the journey that became a test of both riders’ physical and emotional endurance.

Book excerpt: Popular motojournalist Clement Salvadori has been sharing his stories from the road with the readers of Rider magazine since 1988. Now, 101 of those engaging Road Tales have been brought together in one book, cleverly illustrated by his long-time friend Gary Brown. Salvadori loves to travel by motorcycle and loves to write. His combining the two has given him a thoroughly satisfactory life, and his contentment and joy of living shine through this collection of columns from the past two decades. Though he does admit to being destination-oriented at times, many of his columns focus on the little things that make the journey itself the most memorable -- the rhythm of the road, the music of the bike, the beauty of the ride, and the exhilaration of being at one with the bike and the road. Meet some of the characters he has encountered, laugh with him at some of his blunders, and join him for bread, cheese, wine, and a stupendous vista somewhere away from the hustle and bustle of humanity.

Book 50 Wild Motorcycle Tales

Download or read book 50 Wild Motorcycle Tales written by Walter F. Kern and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2014-06-21 with total page 210 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is an anthology of motorcycle stories. These 50 stories were submitted to me over a 13-year period by a wide range of motorcyclists from all walks of life. These authors tell their own personal stories of what happened to them as they rode their motorcycles. Among these writers are a few professionals who made some of their works available to me early in their careers. They now have books of their own. Some tales are very short, and some are very long. I've tried to mix them up. You may find the stories of some authors grouped together. Each tale was intensively edited to provide a good reader experience. You'll find humor, risk-taking, adventures, poetry, rhyming verse, 2-up excursions, world travelers, stupid tricks on bikes, lessons learned, winter riding perils, hazards while riding, and stories told by returning riders. I wrote five of these stories. Two of my stories relate my experiences on my motorcycle trips. Two stories are fictional children's stories that involve fantasy and motorcycles. The last story is a short fictional tale that describes an alternate world of motorcycles. Got a better original tale? Send it to me for consideration in a possible sequel.

Book Slim

Download or read book Slim written by Slim Spires and published by Allen & Unwin. This book was released on 2012 with total page 281 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: MEET SLIM. He bought his first motorcycle, a Bridgestone 175 cc, at age sixteen in 1968. Since then, he's been in and out of trouble (mainly in) and experienced the thrills and perils of riding on the highway. He's been a guest inside some of Australia's toughest jails where he learned a lifetime's worth of human behaviour and handy life skills, such as how not to do an armed hold-up. Never one to shy from a punch or retreat from a fight, Slim is as tough as they come. If something's worth doing, it's worth overdoing. He sees no point in fearing the unknown, whether it be cops, brothers or betrayers. Slim's first-hand account takes you into the world of bikers' clubs: built around motorcycles and the men who ride. And the moral of the story? Just a life lived on Slim's terms, through fists and boots, but always with an unswerving loyalty to the international brotherhood.
