Book 69th International Symposium on Molecular Spectroscopy

Download or read book 69th International Symposium on Molecular Spectroscopy written by Ben McCall and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2014-05-21 with total page 310 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The International Symposium on Molecular Spectroscopy is the premier annual meeting in this exciting and interdisciplinary field. The symposium uniquely combines plenary talks from world leaders in the field with parallel sessions comprising shorter talks, many presented by graduate students, and fosters a collegial and collaborative atmosphere with a multitude of formal and informal interactions. Registration and housing costs are kept low to enable entire research groups to attend, and in fact most senior people in the field gave their very first conference presentation at this symposium (to a very friendly audience). A wide range of topics is covered, from theory to experiment, from gas-phase to condensed-phase, from low resolution to ultra-high resolution, from the microwave to the ultraviolet, and from fundamental science to applications such as astronomy and atmospheric science. Each year's meeting also includes three "mini-symposia" on topics of special interest.

Book High Resolution Electronic Spectroscopy of Small Molecules

Download or read book High Resolution Electronic Spectroscopy of Small Molecules written by Geoffrey Duxbury and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2017-08-02 with total page 310 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over recent years electronic spectroscopy has developed significantly, with key applications in atmospheric chemistry, astrophysics and astrochemistry. High Resolution Electronic Spectroscopy of Small Molecules explores both theoretical and experimental approaches to understanding the electronic spectra of small molecules, and explains how this information translates to practice. Professors Geoffrey Duxbury and Alexander Alijah present the links between spectroscopy and photochemistry, and discuss theoretical treatments of the interaction between different electronic states. They provide a thorough discussion of experimental techniques, and explore practical applications. This book will be an indispensable reference for graduate students and researchers in physics and chemistry working on theoretical and practical aspects of electronic spectra, as well as atmospheric scientists, photochemists, kineticists and professional spectroscopists.

Download or read book A Dirty Window written by Loris Magnani and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-04-06 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides an introduction to the physics of interstellar gas in the Galaxy. It deals with the diffuse interstellar medium which supplies a complex environment for exploring the neutral gas content of a galaxy like the Milky Way and the techniques necessary for studying this non-stellar component. After an initial exposition of the phases of the interstellar medium and the role of gas in a spiral galaxy, the authors discuss the transition from atomic to molecular gas. They then consider basic radiative transfer and molecular spectroscopy with particular emphasis on the molecules useful for studying low-density molecular gas. Observational techniques for investigating the gas and the dust component of the diffuse interstellar medium throughout the electromagnetic spectrum are explored emphasizing results from the recent Herschel and Planck missions. A brief exposition on dust in the diffuse interstellar medium is followed by a discussion of molecular clouds in general and high-latitude molecular clouds in particular. Ways of calibrating CO observations with the molecular hydrogen content of a cloud are examined along with the dark molecular gas controversy. High-latitude molecular clouds are considered in detail as vehicles for applying the techniques developed in the book. Given the transient nature of diffuse and translucent molecular clouds, the role of turbulence in the origin and dynamics of these objects is examined in some detail. The book is targeted at graduate students or postdocs who are entering the field of interstellar medium studies.

Book Advances in Molecular Spectroscopy

Download or read book Advances in Molecular Spectroscopy written by A. Mangini and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-09-17 with total page 516 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Advances in Molecular Spectroscopy, Volume 1 covers the proceedings of the Fourth Meeting of Molecular Spectroscopy, held in Bologna, Italy on September 7-12, 1959. This book is organized into three parts encompassing 69 chapters. The first part presents first some experimental and correlations studies on molecular structure, followed by discussions on the application of molecular spectroscopic techniques for molecular structure determination. Part II reviews experimental determination of Raman intensities, vibrations of aromatic rings, and IR spectra and electronic structure of various organic compounds. Part III considers the general theories on molecular spectroscopy. This topic is followed by surveys on electron energy, orbital valency, relations among potential energy of diatomic molecules, and determination of rotation structure. This book will be of value to molecular spectroscopists and analytical and organic chemists.
