Book 6 Trios from Scarlatti Keyboard Sonatas

Download or read book 6 Trios from Scarlatti Keyboard Sonatas written by Paul G Young, PH D and published by . This book was released on 2020-08 with total page 38 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Scroll below for a video of several of the Scarlatti sonatas as played in Finale. This is an assemblage of six works originally written for keyboard, arranged as trios for recorders, from the well-known collection of harpsichord sonatas by Italian Baroque composer Domenico Scarlatti. They are arranged as trios for two soprano and one tenor recorder. Performing the sonatas requires the skills and musical maturity of those who have studied beyond the high school level. The selected sonatas are mostly in binary form in varied time signatures, major and minor key signatures, expansive ranges with technically challenging scale and arpeggiated figures. This is a valuable collection of Baroque music for the serious recorder player, appropriate for varied performances in school, church, civic, and more. The volume includes: Sonata, K. 32, L 432; Sonata, K. 34, LS 7; Sonata, K. 40, L 357; Sonata, K. 73, L 217; Sonata, K. 274, L 297. This volume will be a welcome addition to those works that constitute the Recorder Collection by this arranger. Audiences familiar with Baroque harpsichord music will love them!

These serve as a progressive initiation into Scarlatti's keyboard artistry. The sonatas generally follow the simple structure of a single movement divided into two symmetrical refrains, as in the pre-classical dance suites. Embellishments are written in regular note values for ease of playing, and dynamic indications, which were sparse for the harpsichord, are added for the modern piano. Fingerings are included as a suggested guide.
